Since hitting the 200k sub mark I felt it was only fitting that tonight's teardown include not one but TWO engines in one video!
These two core LS architecture engines were the "worst two" of the last batch of engines that came in... I would tend to agree!
First engine is a 6.2L L94 from a 2013 Yukon Denali. This is a 403HP aluminum block closely related to the LS3, with the addition of VVT, and DOD. The Second engine is a 5.3L LMG, from a 2007-2009 Tahoe/Silverado or other GMT900 chassis. Its an Iron block, 310hp engine.
Both engines suffered major catastrophic failures that were likely preventable, but don't we always say that?
Why do I do this? I own and run a full service salvage business in the Saint Louis Missouri area called Importapart. Part of our business model includes stripping down bad engines and salvaging the good parts to resell. We do not rebuild engines, merely supply parts to those that do!
200k is just mind blowing. I never set out for this, but I am so elated to be here. I can't say thank you all enough.
I really hope you enjoy this double-teardown. As always, I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism.
Catch you on the next one!!

I think one of the reasons that you have so many subs is that you read all the comments, even the bad ones. I have also experienced on a personal level, writing to your company and asking a vehicle question… and you answered me. It’s one of my favorite channels and I hope you get 200,000 more subs!
I have been a car and engine guy for over 60 years, and I want to tell you that your channel, your teardowns, your humility and your good sense of humor have been a delight to watch. I wish for you and yours the best in the future, and I look forward to watching what you have to offer for as long as I'm still in this world. Kudos to you, sir.
Perfectly stated, Bob. 👍🏼
Old blue needs a medal the perfect silent partner to success 🎉😁
@@johnsnow1355 YES! And safety tote
Hey Bob. Is that a Yamaha Seca in your pic? It at least looks like a of 81 Seca 750. Sorry too ask but I'm just curious
Bugatti engine teardown. I'm going to request this everyday.
Good luck coming across one or affording one I'm down
USAF F-22 General Electric engines are easier to come by
Good luck with that
That's the 10 million sub video

I want to thank you for all the time and effort it takes to produce your content. My mother passed last June. A lot of tough times, and one of the things that has helped has been looking forward to your videos. They are fun, light entertainment and help to pass a lonely evening. Thanks again wish you and yours all the best.
Really sorry to hear buddy. Glad I could help distract you from the world even if it’s only for an hour.
These videos are a really good distraction from what can sometimes be a really shitty day 💩. I have put my "issues" aside many times thanks to watching these videos. Thank you my brother 👍🇦🇺🍻🇺🇲
Hope you're doing well. I've been there, and totally agree. My Mom passed a year ago. We knew it was coming for almost a year. At some point, every day, there's nothing left to do. I showed her a few youtube channels, and there were a couple she really liked. We'd watch, and she'd tell me stories of helping her Dad work on a tractor, or whatever. Or laugh about stuff. It was, in it's own way, a good time.
I've been in the auto parts business for 30 years. I am 46 years old, been doing this since I was a sophomore in high school. Been in the dealership setting for 23 years. Absolutely love all of you videos! You deserve the recognition! You're unbiased and love the humor!
I absolutely love it when you pull out a bad part, then proceed to be supremely gentle with it.
That and chucking the good parts across the shop are my absolute favorite parts
Eric you deserve YT recognition. We all love the effort and entertainment you put in your videos. We really appreciate your late night work. Keep it up!! 😊
Congratulations! These teardowns are kind of niche entertainment, but apparently the niche is not that small. You are what makes this channel great. Never change.
200k Woo Hoo. Way to go Eric. A double LS teardown. 🍻
Yes , sometimes it's about the teardown but it is mostly you personality that shines through. Mix the two together and you have a great channel. Keep up the great work.
I remember the 100k video, so happy to see the growth! One of my favorite channels!
Thank you Eric for your excellent show👍
Please dont ever change your way you are doing the show with your honesty and flaws we love it👍
Who’d have thought this many people would tune in to see a man struggle with dipsticks
We all struggle with dipsticks, we just like seeing someone win. He can even use a hammer sometimes without repercussions.

With how in the dunps the world is in right now, and with the recent passing of my father, your videos give me something to look forward to. Every Saturday night, when I get in bed I pull up my CZcams and watch. Your videos are great, your humility, humor, and no-nonsense approach is very easy to watch. Thanks, Eric.
I'm no mechanic, by any stretch of the imagination 😅, but I feel like I learn a lot about how engines work and how they go together from your teardown videos.
Thank you, and congratulations on 200K! 🎉
Your easy going manner, your knowledge and willingness to say you don't know, and of course the amazing humour! You deserve it! Congratulations on the 200k!
A new breaker to go with the shiny engine stand.
Harbor Freight is calling his name...lol
One thing about this channel is the visible pain in tearing down engines wether it is dead tools or engine parts where they should not be. It is all damn funny.
I wanted a proper burial for the broken half inch breaker bar.
My first thought when seeing this title was “200k subs? Must be an old video”. You deserve millions man.
You deserve all these subs!! Those Saturday evening teardowns are a treat, all the time, and those surprise project vids in the middle of the week!!
The 2 things everyone loves to watch are carnage and fixing stuff after carnage, I'm not surprised at all the channel has 200k subscribers. Congrats on reaching the milestone, you really deserve it for your efforts and the humour injected into every teardown.
It is part of my Saturday night routine to watch the latest teardown. Thanks!
A great way to bring home the fact that regularly checking your oil and changing both oil and filter is for you to be an example. By first checking the dipstick, draining the oil, and inspecting the filter on every engine you teardown.
Congratulations on 200k man, youve defintately earned it. Im not sure where i joined your channel at but im glad i found it
As a retired master tech, I love the tear downs and the way you narrate them. You're a funny guy to watch and you have a love affair with timing chains lol. This is a awesome channel and although I'm up to date on your current video's, I'm also going through all the older ones too. Keep up the great work you do.
Your channel is the intersection of those who have the curiosity of how engines work and those that want to see piston nuggets. Double score!!!
"This part is in great shape!" *tosses it across the shop*
"Ooh, that's bad." *delicately handles it*
Never change.
I was a state of Michigan certified master mechanic; I dropped out of that field some years ago and now I work on printing presses and associated equipment. Your videos tell me what a wise decision that was! I won’t lie and say my new occupation is a piece of cake; it isn’t, but I am glad we still have people like you out there, showing us the good, the bad and the ugly.
That 3-cylinder Ford with the “wet” timing belts is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen! At least with most of the engines you’ve torn down here you can see good points to them and your “autopsies” on how and why the engines failed mean a lot. And one thing has become very obvious - you love your line of work! Regardless of what we wrench, MECHANICS FOREVER!!
I watch these videos all the time, and even though my wife knows nothing about engines, she finds your humor and running commentary funny and comforting.
Piston delete & the palace of malice. My favourites so far. Funny guy.
Congratulations on 200k! Happy to be one of them! 300 will be here before you know it!
Loved your live segment yesterday Eric good job!
1:08:19 Engine #2 sequence of event during failure, very well described! Love the autopsy report with story line. Keep doing it!
200K, we won't go away!
Eric, ever thought of using a borescope camera to preview the malice in the combustion palace for us?
wouldn't that take away the suspense of discovery?? I mean the reason most people come to watch is to see the damage as he goes.
@@davidmiller9485I wouldn’t mind a little peep show of the upcoming carnage. An appetizer, if you will.
Sir: You are what I call Automotive Forensics Specialist (You investigate how/why the engine died). I learned a lot from you.
Congratulations on the 200k buddy. You deserve it. This channel is awesome, man. Keep up the great work.
Eric, your commentary is always so entertaining. It's rare to see such expertise and showmanship combined so successfully. Also, great videography and editing. I hope your channel continues to grow!
Congratulations on 200k Eric. Really enjoyed the live show last night too. Keep them coming man.👏👏👏
Congrats man, you deserve it without a doubt....but we do need more E34 content!
Your entertaining attitude and the genuine way that you present yourself is what I feel keeps your channel growing. Thank you !
Congratulations on your success!
300K 3 engines?
There are soo many phonies that have channels now. Your honesty, humor, Midwestern personally come through and people see this in your videos.
Thank You for sharing the engines and your time.
Hey, I don’t only watch your videos because the teardowns are so cool, but also because you’re such a damn good presenter!
Never a dull moment in these videos! Thanks for the entertainment!
Awesome Job Eric!! 200k and I bet your active view rate is through the the roof too! Your attitude and genuine sharing are a real treasure. All the best to you and your family on this milestone in recognizing you and what you do!
Also, I am likely like so many others... Out of all my subscriptions, yours is the one I always have to watch as soon as I can after you post! Makes for a glorious Sunday morning most weeks, but even an occasional Saturday night treat!
200k should not surprise you, your videos are awesome!
Congratulations Eric! You deserve all the subscribers, I enjoy your channel on tearing down engines and South Main Auto Repair on repairing vehicles…by the way his name is Eric too!! Thanks for sharing your videos!!
Congratulations on 200k subscribers over 2 years since making the engine tear down videos! 2 tear downs on two similar engine blocks from GM are worth it for todays video! You are doing pretty well. Hope the best for you and more engine tear down videos to come!
200,000 on the clock? Barely run in! Thank you for the wonderful videos Eric, wishing you and your family all the best for the future and here's hoping you can turn the clock back over to zeros on the channel!
I love your channel. Been working on cars for as long as I can remember. I love to see how engines are put together. Exspecially ones you would never get to see inside of. Thanks for the rocker arms and guide plates from the 454 the other day. And your sense of humor is spot on. Keep up the good work and hope to see you when you hit 500,000.
Congrats! I enjoy your videos! The carnage, the sludge, the used and abused powerplants of many manufactures. Keep up the good work! This is my favorite way of spending saturday night
You deserve your success! Great channel that I look forward to every bit of content you create.
Thank you for your continued efforts!
You absolutely deserve the 200K recognition! Loved this special video.
congrats on the 200k man, always love watching these videos and thinking about how some of these engines you take apart ended up like they did. thanks for the amazing content and lets hope things keep going well
Here’s to another 200k subs. We all love your videos and look forward to your brakedowns. Keep up the good work. Much love from across the pond
Can’t wait for the 1 mil subs video. 10 engine tear down marathon.
The reason why I subscribe is because you seem to be genuine and to have knowledge I need experience that you're willing to share and I appreciate that
"I'll bet we can fix this!" I almost lost it 🤣
The videos are fantastic and your sense of humor in these makes it fun to watch. I've been around since you had 20k subs and still watch every video I see come up. Thank you for not putting terrible intro music and the hard work you put in.
Two engines for 200k? I feel like you're setting a bad precedent here but I can't wait to see five engine teardowns for 500k! Congratulations, well deserved milestone.
way to go Eric, your spirit is very positive and infectious. keep at it, much love
Eric, Congrat's to 200K !! thanks for the educational, entertaining video's !! enjoy the fame and fun while it lasts, remember, nothing is forever,
You deserve it, plain and simple!
Love your channel keep up the great stuff!
been watching for over a year -- 200k subs and not a silly intro, bad music or bs ads. learned a lot and seen more than i could have on my own. my fav part about working in shops were the wizards that would show me their secrets. thank you for your vids!
Your comments are like talking to yourself. That makes it so enjoyable to watch your videos. You love your engines too.
Congratulations on 200,000 subscribers. I can see why you have so many subs. Your videos have a lot of interesting little ad-libs that raise the interest level. Well Done!
congrats on your milestone!!! Love your channel, very informative while being humorous too!
Congrats on 200k subs! I’m glad to be one of them! You’re one of only two YT channels I specifically open to watch every week 👍
A 2 for 1 special. A good way to start a Sunday morning watching these videos. Thanks for sharing
I so look forward to watching your teardowns. I love your sense of humour and your enthusiasm. Thank you.
Thanks for the double teardown and congratulations on making 200K subscribers.
Congratulations on 200K! I'm enjoying my Sunday morning coffee watching your new weekly video.
Congratulations on 200k. I have never seen a destroyed wrist pin until now. DOD really sucks, doesn`t it! These videos help relieve the stress of the week. Thanks Eric.
Congrats Eric! It's been a fun ride so far! Cheers!
Watching your channel has given me the confidence to work on my own classic car...realizing that it isn't that hard to replace carbs, intake manifolds and do other basic work. Seeing how major components are put together via your disassembly is very educating and helpful.
Congratulations Eric on 200,000 subscribers. I enjoy your content and the humor. don’t ever change your format you got this down right.
You rock dude. You always bring a smile to my face
*HA 200K SUBS, YOU'RE ONLY GETTING STARTED*

Congratulations Erik & Fam on 200,000 Subscribers. Watched last night's dysfunctional Late Live Stream all the way to the end. Your Engine Autopsies are very Entertaining. Keep em coming.
Commercial landscape engines are never over worked, Kohler, B&S Vanguard, Kawaski engines are common on stand on and ride on large deck mowers.

Dude, I look forward to your videos every week, keep it up, man!
Congrats Eric on your 200K. I enjoy the videos.
Congratulations on 200K!
You make a great channel thank you. I’m a software engineer by background and there was a time I chose between mechanical engineering and computer science and obviously I didn’t pick engines. I’ve always wondered about the other side and your channel is super informative and practical and just plain interesting. Wishing you every success
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED IN THE PAST YEAR OF WATCHING YUOR CHANNEL: (1) When engines blow, they really blow, (2) Wrist pins are typically built really well no matter who makes them, (3) You are one of the rare people who really love their work.
