This looks like a storage location that heat cycled a lot and had hight moisture. You get condensation if you have warm air getting into a cold engine, which will partially drip down and end up under the oil. This going on for 17 years will give plenty of surface rust all over the insides. Once inside the engine, the water would just not evaporate, since there isn't any draft going on, so it would accumulate quite some water in 17 years.

I have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and I never-ever check the oil........I can't even find the dipstick..... Maybe I should buy a dipstick from you and rig it up so I can get my dipstick fix....I have been going through dipstick withdrawals lately. What was that? ..... My NJSP 2011 crown Victoria had 195,000 and 9400 idle hours No oil use between changes every 3-4000 miles. Original motor. Water pump change out takes 1 hour. Those Cyclone 3.5-3.7 and ecoboost amazing power yes but wow just wow $$ & lots of time to keep on the road. Long live the old warhorse.

I have to say that engine is built like a tank what happened I do not know , but it helps me to put some faith back into Ford. I own a 4.0 liter SOHC that has never been cracked open. a couple of thermostat plastic housings and 1 alternator(1997) Ford Explorer that I have owned since 1999. Maintenance is the key very little sludge really more like varnish and coming from a police car wow other than the kaboom that engine was in nice shape. Remember if it has Tires, Transistors or Testacles one lady told me it can have some issues. Thankyou for a great channel.

Looks like the thermostat got stuck closed due to not changing it out after so many miles and it rusted shut. That in turn caused the over heating and the hot coolant had to go somewhere and that somewhere looks like it was in between the layers that make up the head gasket which looked like it was made of ss or something but that’s in turn caused the piston rings to get too hot also especially cuz once the head gasket blew the vehicle was then driven for awhile after causing the piston ring damage. I’m surprised it was able to start and run after the head gasket seal failure but with so many low miles and a ss head gasket it probably slightly re sealed when it cooled off and the driver thought it was ok to keep driving it till the piston rings failed and it started knocking. And that’s when they took it to a mechanic. I’m surprised the motor didn’t seize

I bought my Odyssey used, but the original tensioner failed. The previous owner took it to Honda and had it replaced. Then at 80,000 miles they had the timing belt service done. 40,000 miles later, with me having bought the car, the OEM tensioner failed again with the infamous knocking sound when cold. So I'm not sold on the OEM hydraulic tensioner at all. I just replaced with AISIN and so far, so good.

So, once upon a time there would have been a V8 in this vehicle. Now there is a V6. But, the weight of the vehicle has not changed (in fact might have increased). But, V6 or V8 the performance needed from the vehicle has not changed. So, it is necessary to abuse the V6 to get the same performance the V8 would have provided just being run more or less normally. The V6 will be run at higher rpm and held at higher rpms longer. Duh, what's this going to do to the V6? It's going to burn it out much sooner than the V8 under identical circumstances. Hence, the only thing really wrong with this engine is that it is missing two cylinders!

I also have a guess of maybe how it got so blown up so with hybrid cars typically they have a very powerful alternator/generator that will also start the car which is normally around 30 hp at least on this car and I’m guessing the card kept on trying to start Initially blew up by running out of oil, which is why so many of rods are exploded out because normal cars won’t try to restart but a hybrid will try to restart, but that’s just speculation that I have this car and knowing how it starts the engine, basically spins the engine very fast with a lot of torque to get it to turn on within a split second

2018 F-150 3.5L with 115k miles. Lots of problems before it was rear ended 3 weeks ago and totaled. 38k cam Phasers replaced 78k cam Phasers failed again Dropped oil pan and found piston shavings! Warranty put a new bottom end in. 101k was on vacation in Louisiana and the starter went out. 114k horn assembly failed! Lol come on. 115k right coil cover cracked. Also transmission failed and cost $9800 to fix. 115k rear ended by a 19 year old and totaled my truck! My Ford was a lemon and all Ford would ever say was Sorry! When the engine failed it was at Ford for 2.5 months! Unreal

Are you positive that this engine is a 5.2?? That thing has more power than a 318 pulling around a 5000 pound truck has a right to have 😆 The frame is so bad that the engine has to run extra good to make up for it.

My 2015, 6 cylinder Legacy's CVT died at 68,000.So the heavier duty ones do also fail.
