Today's video is another day at work! We are a full service auto salvage business and I try to buy as many 99-07 GM Trucks as I can. This 2003 Silverado went cheap! All in, I was just over $800 including delivery, which seemed like a huge win at the time.
WELL! The auction is a gamble. I did not know mileage. I did not know if it would run, or what was damaged or how bad. I bid based on seeing the rear axle, and a few other parts I can sell. Most of the time, the gamble pays off. I've been doing this long enough where I can way the risks and worst case its not a loss, but not a huge win. Today we dive into this truck to see how I did. What survived, what didn't, what I can sell and what I can't.
I really hope you enjoyed this video. As always, I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism.
Catch you on the next one!

Please do more of these Eric, these videos are excellent.
Love how you polished a turd. Very poetic.
Just add gritter to it
I love the teardowns but honestly I like these even more. More please!
+1
Hey Canadian brother.
@DDE_ADDICT hey brotha, hope you and your health are well.
"I bought it at the auction, where I buy most of my mistakes..." LOL, stuff like this is why you have your audience. Keep it up.
Looks like it had a run in with Arkansas State Patrol. 🤣🤣🤣
it might have......
ASP doesn't f around with those PIT manoeuvres 😂
😂
Only if it was a Chrysler product
Perhaps an AR trooper gave it the byrd...
More of these please. I like to watch the ups and downs of these videos. Watching you get a wreck running is an education. Thanks
I can imagine your wife looking in the driveway whenever you come back from an auction going "W... T... F..." 😅
If I brought this stuff home, there would be no wife 🤣
That's the key. He turned his stash house into a business and as long as it turns a profit, she's happy, and he gets to keep buying dumb shit and hoard parts and cars he doesn't want her to know about
That's what we refer to in the business, as a win-win
Yes Eric, more of these please!
@@t-yoonit so the man is clearly a genius that has perfected life
@@I_Do_Cars So That's How I Can Get Rid Of Mine 🤔
Yes lets see more. Reusing some parts that would just become scrap is a win. And opening hoods with a forklift makes good content.
Turning the hood into an advanced design folding hood.
These “just another day at work” videos are my favorites. Please continue!
'We'll cross that bridge when it falls down' - love it!
Love seeing this sort of thing too.
Hey Eric. You asked for feedback on what people want to see. In my humble opinion, I think the key to your ongoing success on CZcams is to keep mixing it up.....don't let your channel stagnate, and also don't be afraid to think outside the box for content ideas.
I actually like content that resembles more of a normal person at work in their business.
Much better than "reaction content"!
Damn, i thought that intro was going to go into a "can't polish a turd...wait yes I can!" joke. Ah well.
Polish it all you want, it's still a turd.
Same!
Same here!!
I'd actually love to see some videos where you take a crashed vehicle and film the tear down on it, showing which parts are junk, which parts are good and the process of dismantling a wrecked vehicle, especially when considering damaged bodywork or running gear etc. Seeing how engines are constructed by deconstructing them is great and I'd imagine that the same would be true for full vehicles. It could even be a series of videos on one particular vehicle, until the remains are scrapped.
I'd like to see this process too. No-one seems to go to that length at the moment, they just list the stuff that might be salvageable off the top of their heads. Then the next episode is another car 😞
I love how committed you are to fully carrying out whatever the joke is and taking much farther than the average person to make it extra funny.
You need to open a comedy club, and be a headliner there. You missed your calling. Oh sorry you ruined the headliner. Love it
I didnt know it was possible, but this type of video is somehow even more interesting than the normal disassembly videos, you are really awesome
Please check tire pressure and maybe check the alignment...if my eyes are good i would say that vehicle is not level...it's leaning to one side
These “Will it Run” videos are my absolute favorites! Great stuff.
I want the water pump , don't chuck it !
I need a timing chain and guides!
I need a busted in half vortec engine.
I want the chain guides
It's probably the only thing not ruined lol. The fan clutch tho...
I called dibs on that oil pan
I would like to see more of these from you as a Salvage Yard owner. Plus your scrapped tow yard vehicle video rehabs are entertaining too.
Thank you for posting Eric.
I'd love to see you do more of this kind of content.
And if that engine is bad and you're gonna tear it down for parts anyway, I hope we see it on Saturday night.
Looked like you may have burnt through the clear in a small spot, might as well junk it now.
Yes Eric! More of these types of videos please.
I'm always down for more "just another day at the office". Came for the engine teardowns, stayed for the "everything else".
After all, You Do Cars, and I for one am down for you doing the entire car, rather than just its engine.
I bought a new 2003 Silverado. I drove it almost 200,000 miles. Never had any trouble with it. Replaced one battery kept it serviced. Best truck I ever owned. It was also black
Haven't watched a video of yours in a couple of months, the comedic quality has definitely gone up a few levels. Died laughing at finding the medication in the cab.
Great video guy!
What a shame to see such a rust free 800 series wrecked like that.
Entertainment value is a 10! More please.😊
I think you have an overwhelming response Eric. Yes, we want more of these videos!
Eric, I enjoy these ‘day in the life’ videos. It’s good to see the effort you put into every aspect of your business!
I enjoy these videos. As a lot of people, my favorite content is the engine teardowns, but I definitely like these too. Keep up the great work.
"I've got a tool for this" and I go "oh sh!t"
Yes! I’d love to see more of these type of videos that lead to a tear down! Or tearing down a full car!!! Love it!!!
I like your "I bid on this thing, let's try to start it!" videos 🙂
I think this was a cool video, Eric. I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 with almost 352k on it, and video like this show me that you are always looking for good sellable parts for the great GMT-800 platform for those of us with old ones that we desperately want to keep on the road!
I have a unique antique; a 90 Geo Storm with 93k miles. It just passed Oregon Dept of environmental quality clean air test and has a new registration & lic tags. I love this manual everything except the 3 speed automatic transmission. It fits your model of a totalled car brought back to clean unbranded title and like new quality. New a/c system all new! New struts all 4. Four new tires too.
I keep it full of gas and clean oil, transmission fluid etc. It is a keeper!
Thanks for trying to salvage the truck. I enjoyed watching!! If more people checked and filled their oil we may not have so much fun with your weekly tear downs. Love your excellent entertainment!!❤
Probably gets better gas mileage than that POS 3 cylinder turbo Nissan rogue he just tore down.
Doing more for the environment than 10 newly manufactured hybrids
@@NoName-qs6ei most new cars are less fuel efficient than their older versions these days.
my old corolla gets better mpg than a new ones do. wild.
When cars were ....cars, and not computers on wheels. I drive a 2006 economy car with 46k.
@@3rdGenGuyit’s the‘emissions’ kit that makes them use way more fuel!! and how is that cleaner???
I was howling at this one Eric. Just love it. Appreciate this stuff man.
Hey Eric, great video and yes, I'd love to see more of them and od course, I still enjoy your teardowns. Cheers!
Eric please please keep these videos coming. Any of your content is so awesome...I admire you...
You can't always win them all but we're so grateful for the video. Cheers and Prosperity... keep those videos coming ❤
Do more of these ! They're interesting as Hell, and your sense of humor is killin' me .....
Yes more of this let's have another day at the office more often
Admire your honesty and hard work!!
Just do your thing, this was fun and entertaining. You know many of us walk junk yards and wonder what happened to this, and that. It is part of the experience. Just do your thing. I like it all.
Keep them coming Eric, I am living vicariously through your videos.
I really enjoy these videos!
Fantastic video. Great sense of humor. Love it!
This was a very nice change of pace from the usual content. Great channel and mixing it up keeps you engaged.
I enjoy whatever you want to show us. Thank you.
Love ALL your content Eric, keep em coming 👍👍
These videos are so awesome! Fall or win!!!
Yup, give us more “a day at the office” vlogs next to the tear down videos, very pleasant, entertaining and informative. Greetings from the Netherlands, Erik.
Every video you've made is gold. You are so entertaining. You can do no wrong!
Great Video. This was a nice change!
Nice to see these mishaps too. Well not nice in the normal context, but its nice to see that you also share the lesser good deals too, that's a very nice content too. Great content as always
More! This was good. I love the engine tear down. I love the transmission tear down. Thank you for the content.
Love this video Eric! It would be great to actually see you dismantle this beast, and salvage the useable parts! Take us through the whole journey, and show us how it pans out financially when all is said and done. Would love to see that!
Yes! Not sure how you count labor which can’t be ignored, but I hope/suspect this isn’t quite as bad as you think.
I love to see you doing anything
If you can't find the key, two suggestions : On top of the left front tire. Mmmm...maybe not. On top of the driver's side visor. Mmmm... maybe not. That truck was a write off before it rolled over.
I honestly enjoy videos like this a little more than the normal tear downs. Kinda fun to see the gamble on scrap rigs like this to find out if you're in the red or not. More please!
Love this content! We need more of this! Thanks Eric! That opening scene with you buffing the paint was AWESOME!👍
I would happily watch more of these types of videos.
Dammit!
Over 150 children alone could have been fed by that sun visor.
I have a 2000 Silverado, how are the frame cross members? My hood release is a zip tie
Love all the “day at the office” content!
Especially fun/funny watching you casually play “Body shop” with the loader!
Loved the video! Yes, we would like to see more. The disassembly to remove the motor and then tear down would also be cool!
You had me with a mouthful of coffee when you brought out the wax a buffer then my coffee was gone .
Funniest shit I have seen from you.
Eric and his salvage lot antics.....Priceless
Dang, that looks like it went off a bridge! Made me wonder how cool it'd be to see you do more videos on this and what you can salvage and make from it eventually. From my untrained eye i'd just presume everything of value was wrecked and essentially welded together. Followed this channel for a good year now but this gave me a new level of appreciation for salvage yard workers. If you can pull more than you paid ($800) from it, that's neigh on a miracle!
these are fun and informative mid week. keep posting.
Love your videos Eric! And love the variety - Keep it up! But please, please don’t risk yourself by getting under an unsecured suspended load like that.
Excellent video. Love the “day in the shop” videos…keep ‘em coming!
That truck was hauling but, hit a solid object down low and went end over on to the roof. Judging by the lack of blood, the passenger either bailed or was ejected
I love these types of videos. Especially when you actually get them running. Keep them coming!
I really like your channel. Keep up the great work! Your talk about parts and their sales value is very interesting to me.
It's good to see the follow through to see what you finally get off this truck that's useable.
Love this type of video, please do more of it!
Excellent. Reality! I love it. Thanks, Eric.
Love this style of video keep them coming
Great video Eric , thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to entertain us . Your videos are awesome .
I like this type of content Eric ...and also the tear-down videos ...pretty much everything you have put out content wise. Thanks!
Love these, keep ‘em coming!
I think I was really enjoying seeing more content like this. It's interesting to see the cars that they engines come out of thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.
I would definitely like to see more content like this. It's fascinating to see and you make it all fun and enjoyable. Thanks.
I like these day at the office videos, its cool to see that other people make auction induced vehicular purchasing mistakes and its not just me
I certainly enjoy these videos in which I am able to learn a bit about your business. I'm interested in learning about an industry that I am not involved in. As always, uou have a bit of fun with it, which makes the video more entertaining. Thank you for sharing it.
Yes give us more of these videos.
That was an enjoyable look into some of the things that happen on the business side of importapart.
Awesome video. Keep these coming!
Eric, your videos are excellent with honest content and humour. Always fascinating to see your latest projects coming through your shop, good and bad which is what business is about. Hope to see you tear down that engine, I am now curious to see the condition of it and how much damage it took!
This is good stuff - nice to see these go through the initial scrap metal weedouts.
I like these videos - the engines are okay but seeing what you bring back from an auction is great also
Love this channel. Not only are you living my dream, you're great on camera and seem to have fun sharing what you think is interesting which obviously, the rest of us find interesting also.
I love watching these! It is so interesting to see what happens to these cars and how much or little is salvageable on them.
i would love to see you to a full part out on a job like this...just to see what you finally get out as saleable.
Would love to see more of these types of videos and your builds. Seen enough tear downs for a while.
Yes, more of these please. Great stuff 😋
I like this video Eric! Thank you for sharing all of your content. I spend most of my time following your new videos.... your amazing! Thank you for making the internet interesting and informative!
Big Hug from the Great White North buddy! THANKS

love these videos just as much as the teardowns!!
Pretty interesting video! Always good to get a peek behind the curtain at the different ways that exist to provide value, make money, and in your case help keep other vehicles on the road. I enjoy content like this.
Anything like this video is interesting tome especially when you talk about what you can sell parts for. Love your videos.
Love the engine teardown vids, of course. But these are a nice change of pace. Fun to see how stuff works through your process.
