      "#1 Lawyer" is just puffery too. It doesn't even say #1 at what; maybe it's #1 ranked by who has the most DUIs from sleeping in their car while drunk. Something like "#1 highest-rated on Google Reviews" or something might be more actionable if it's a falsity.

    Something strikingly relevant to smoking in kid's faces:
    I live in Mesa County, Colorado. I'm comfortable saying that much, and it is relevant to the applicable laws.
    I have home CCTV videos of my ex and her friend blowing clouds of marijuana into my 22-month-old autistic infant's face. They laugh as my infant son stumbles around the room. I gave the videos to the local Sheriff and they told me it wasn't illegal. I lost it and personally emailed the videos to my local DA. The DA looked into it and replied it was indeed LEGAL in Colorado to blow marijuana smoke into an infant's face, at-risk or not. I very much disputed this and the DA told me that in order for blowing marijuana smoke into a 22-month-old autistic infant's face to be illegal it would have to 1) include the adult physically restraining the minor AND 2) be multiple instances over several months. I was told by the DA that if the police had made an arrest he would have just dismissed the case as it is perfectly legal under Colorado law to blow marijuana smoke into an autistic infant's face.
    No joke, believe me this shit is not funny to me. I'm trying to learn how a private citizen can drive change in state law, because I find this intolerable.

    An example that would dumpster dive a business and not just out of sheer curiosity or financial desperation are information security analysts and their less benevolent hacker and espionage counterparts.
    There is very real information contained in even routine casual correspondence, outdated documents, and general garbage that can provide insight into an organization's operating procedures, names and titles of their staff and their contact information, daily routines and behavioral patterns of the staff, artifacts that point to what sort of equipment/solutions suppliers and partners they work with, and a general sense of their internal structure. Gold mines for making stronger phishing and social engineering attacks.
    For personal matters, your general garbage could also be of great value to private investigators, police detectives, identity thieves, targeted con artists, stalkers and (if you are a person of influence or security clearance) intelligence agencies as a means to build a profile of your lifestyle and habits in addition to the personal equivalents of the business intelligence reasons I mentioned before. If your employer is being targeted, you could also be targeted as a potential vector to gain intel or to impersonate enough to pivot to higher valued colleagues. Yes, even if you yourself don't matter in the grand scheme of things.
    The baseline vigilance is to at least shred your documents and physically destroy discarded storage media and be careful what you sell on the grey/secondhand market. Even better, you could secure your trash cans within your property (as then the diver risks trespass charges and you can possibly go the extra mile of property surveillance) or secure the receptacle itself.
    If your business or apt building is shared the dumpster may not be secured out of logistical convenience, in which case make peace with the fact that everything you throw out is "public domain" for anybody who wants to get all up in your business.
    TL;DR Shred your docs, physically break your discarded and wiped data storage, think long about what you sell on ebay/marketplace, and either fence away or lock up your outdoor garbage receptacles if you can. Yes, your trash can tell someone who you are as a person and how you live your life and someone out there might really want to know.

However, I live with someone whom I found has a criminal record and can’t posses any guns or “be near” them. Aside from having my firearm in another location, would I still be in my rights to have my firearm in the same house as this person, like keep it in a safe or something?

      No, not really. There are TONS of laws on the books that are just no longer enforced. One go to I usually mention is most local municipalities will often still have laws demanding store owners have a full watering trough to be available for the local fire brigade buried somewhere in ancient laws. If laws just fade away without legislation nor court precedent killing it then it still sits there, technically on the books yet unenforced.

    Hey Mike.
    My wife and I want to visit the US next year, doing a roundtrip through all continental states by car.
    I love your videos about rights and recommended behaviours in regards to interactions with police and law enforcement.
    With us spending at least 180 days on the road I expect to have some interactions with them.
    Since we are Europeans, we have had vastly different experiences with cops as shown in many CZcams videos I have seen.
    Of course we aren't protected by the constitution like a citizen but I guess there must be any laws in regards of rights and responsibilities of tourists during traffic stops and inspections.
    I would really appreciate a video about what to expect, recommended behaviours, etc.

    • @chrisredeagle8414
      @chrisredeagle8414 Před 10 měsíci +1

      2 important things for your visit.
      1. You are definitely protected by the Constitution while visiting! There are certain rights that you don't receive, such as voting rights, for example. However, you enjoy the protection of intrinsic/inalienable rights, such as free speech, protection against self incrimination, etc.
      2. There is a high likelihood that you won't encounter any law enforcement officials in your 180 day stay. If you do, it will probably be because you did something that is legal in your country that isn't here. And it will likely be a roadside traffic stop. Similar to how I found out that Icelanders don't turn right on red. Although you have no obligation to answer their questions, personal experience has guided me to just explain what happened, accept the result, and be on with your day within 15 minutes or so.
      Hope you enjoy your visit!

      Try not to drive with large amounts of cash, use credit card, ect. There is something called Civil Asset Forfeiture which allows police if you are stopped to possibly take your cash and say it's proof of a crime, even if not. Most states require you to go to court to get it back.

    • @JanSchattling

      @@Rovolloth To be honest, the big dream to one day visit the US that many people of my generation had in the past is constantly getting smaller because of the things we see online and on the news.
      What once was a "I would want to live there" has become a "I wouldn't ever want to live there".
      (I mean, the healthcare alone is something I wouldn't want to miss.
      Workers rights, housing and quality of food are other.)
      The fact is that the US has a beautiful and diverse range of natural biomes we in Europe don't have and these are what interests me (and the cuisine).
      So yes, with what is happening right now it feels like this is the last chance to do a trip like this, before the US stears itself into a mix of Escape from New York, The Handmaid's Tale and Blade Runner at the end of this decade.
      But thanks for the warning. 😊 👍

      @@JanSchattling Absolutely understandable, I suppose. I come from Alaska, born and raised. A dreadful, horrible place to live. I suffered immensely.
      But if you're going to visit Alaska, the cruise is great. Otherwise, if your passport allows you through Canada and you decide to drive the Alcan Highway I cannot stress enough that you should take a spare tire and make sure you have the right tools for emergency repairs. It's a thrilling trip.

    I am a real estate photographer. I came across a question of another photographer who was contracted to shoot homes under their agency and not allowed to use the photos for her own personal or commercial use. She retains the Raw files and starting to build her own real estate photo business. She doesn't have a large portfolio of her own work other than the ones she shot under the agency umbrella. Does she have the IP of the Raw files as the author? Does the agency use prevention pertain to their own final edits or to the Raw files as well.

    There's a lot of questions on my end when it comes to the burning money law.
    Why is it a law to begin with?
    A law is made to prevent somebody from doing anything bad or terroristic.
    Burning money isn't bad, it's just stupid.
    What's the point of making it a law to begin with? Who would want to burn they're money?
    I can understand burning someone else's money is a big no-no, but you can do whatever the hell you want with your own money. The law gets no say in it ( I think ).

    • @Noah_Yoo
      @Noah_Yoo Před 11 měsíci

      1. Because money has real value to it, when you burn money, the value is gone and could cause inflation.
      2. Laws are there to stabilize the economy.

    • @mineatomtr
      @mineatomtr Před 11 měsíci +6

      The idea of burning money comes from removing as much money as possible from the economy to deflate it, so it's considered an economic manupilation (or something along the lines)
