Years ago, on the coast, a small fishing village grew into a small city, but with prosperity, crime soon followed. After years of unrest followed by the Agglomerate Wars, the city was nearly abandoned until the Kruger Uprising attracted many new businesses to the region. As the nation of Cascadia was founded in the year FY00, the city was renamed the city of Glass.
But some in Glass were unhappy about the growing influence of the Conglomerates. In November of FY34, a protest was held, but many were killed and the protesters were labelled terrorists. The Conglomerates used the chaos to impose laws and curfews on the citizens, now simply called "Employs". Conglomerate life was seemingly idyllic but had the Employs given up their freedom?
As Kruger Security policed the Employs, criminals hired Runners, parkour-inspired couriers who frequent the rooftops of Glass. You are Faith, a young woman who lost her family in the protests of FY34. You were adopted by Noah, an infamous Runner, and you've run from your past ever since, but it's time to take a stand. Unfortunately, you've been sent to Juvie, but nothing a wall run and a demi tour won't fix. On your, mark, get set...

No it doesn't. I think there are some tutorial missions where they do that at the beginning, and I remember another part later in the game, but for the most part you can just avoid people.
Also there is a "upgrade" system so all your normal moves have to be "bought" and there is ABSOLUTELY no momentum, there's just a button you press and, BAM full speed, honestly it's awful
that intro is the best one I have ever seen! 4 times repeated and Its still making me cry xD

And then not even half a minute out of prison some guy, whom Faith doesn't even know, walks up and gets the cops back on her before she even manage to does anything. I'm not even kidding.

Yeah, it's a different story/timeline whatever. Some of the names are the same, like Krueger and Faith, other than that everything is different. Read the comic for the true prequel story, since that was written by the same writers as the game.

I know the original comment was posted ages ago but yolo. Catalyst was called a soft reboot, so basically it’s been rebooted using the core elements of the original Mirror’s Edge

The new faith looks silly. If I was a wanted fugitive in the foot loose town for freerunning, i wouldn't waste time with makeup.
Its called character design. Her hair and clothes probably wouldn't be in perfect condition while free-running either..... She looks pretty damn similar to me anyways!

No, but I'm not a video game character. My point was that it's a game, and they designed their character to be stylish not necessarily realistic. And, again, I think she looks incredibly similar to her original design, but I guess we'll just have to disagree there!
