Us hockey fans in Minnesota aren’t scratching our heads and wondering what’s going wrong. We know what’s wrong, it’s the Parise and Suter contracts we are paying still.
Cleveland and Seattle really don't have much in the last 30 plus years either.
The fact that Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles 6 hours after this vid debuted is so fitting.
God
At least the twins win Al central
He put the curse on Kirk. Watch out Timberwolves.
@@azuredusk991only because Cleveland was injury-prone.
And 7 days later Jaren Hall left after 2 drives with a concussion, KJ left the game with a concussion, Darrisaw missed the game due to injury, and Cam Akers suffered the same injury as Kirk, and is now out for the season.
I love being a Minnesota sports fan :’)
As a Minnesotan, I knew immediately from the title, this would be about Minnesota.
I have learned to have no expectations.
You cant be disappointed when you have no expectations.
😂 same 3 weeks later. Hang in there brother
A fellow Minnesotan... stupid bountygate, stupid Gary Anderson, stupid Yankees, stupid useless management not using the talent we have... I hate it. We seem to always get amazing talent on our teams but nobody is ever willing to use it.
Me sitting here thinking Wisconsin but I’m an idiot
@@markanthony1004 our mortal enemy has revealed itself
As a Buffalo sports fan. I feel your pain 😂
Two things to throw in on the Vikings:
1. The Vikings were originally supposed to join the AFL in 1960, but team owner Max Winter agreed to wait a year and take an expansion franchise opportunity with the NFL instead. As a result, the Oakland Raiders came into existence in their place.
2. In their four Super Bowl appearances, the Vikings never once had a lead at any point in the game. In fact, the Vikings did not score a single point in the first half of their four Super Bowl losses as they were outscored by a combined 51-0.
And a Twins fact...
The Minnesota Twins are 11-1 all-time in World Series games at home since moving to Minnesota in 1961 (previously had been the first incarnation of the Washington Senators). The lone loss was Game 7 of the 1965 World Series at Metropolitan Stadium as World Series MVP Sandy Koufax pitched a three-hit complete game shutout in a 2-0 win for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
And now Kirk Cousins is out with a torn achilles right when he was playing some of his best football
@@EmptyHand49 Sad, really.
That 65 team was better then the Dodgers except L.A. had koufax
@@michaelcanney7218Great point, Michael. And the Dodgers won lots of games versus better teams in the mid ‘60’s due to Koufax and Don Drysdale. Plus help from Claude Osteen, Johnny Podres, and later Don Sutton. The Dodgers minor league system seemed to be a pitching factory.
They've also never had more than 2 losing seasons in a row, except for the first 3 years of the team's existence.
As a Minnesotan. Thank you for the video. Now I have something to watch instead of my team in a championship
LOL
I'll be joining you in that after another year of frustration!
chris hanel has a hugely comprehensive video on the twins' streak, which i watched right after secret base's incredible series on the vikings. In the span of like a month, have had some nice recognition if not outright solidarity
@@FivePointsVidsEXCELLENT video timing as 3 hours later the packers TOOK OUT both cousins n Justin Jefferson with injuries
At least we kept our tank and ended the enemies season at the same time
@@FivePointsVids Cleveland and Seattle doesn't have much in the last 30 years. Cleveland Lost all World Series since 1948 and Browns been to Zero Super Bowls. Seattle: Mariners never been to a World Series and blew a repeat Super Bowl thanks Russell Wilson and their Coach. and Supersonics left town.
Don’t forget; even with two World Series the Twins were in danger of CONTRACTION, not relocation. A decade after the 1991 title, Carl Pohlad was very close in having the Twins (and also the Expos) contract before the 2002 season, meaning Twins fans were in danger of seeing the end of their ballclub, a fate worse than if their team merely relocated. Fortunately, MLB opted against ending the existence to two teams and the Twins, Minnesota’s only championship sports franchise, were allowed to keep living.
What a wild (no pun intended) scenario that would've been.
The last team of the major four sports leagues to contract was the NHL's Cleveland Barons, formerly the Oakland Seals/California Golden Seals.
And that was in the 1970s. With the money teams get from TV contracts today, contraction may never happen again.
Correction, from a Minnesotan. MLB didn't "opt against it". Minnesota's courts FORCED them to play out the final year of the contract, which bought enough time for the whole thing to become clearly revealed as a bad idea.
We don't trust any of the national sports boards up here. We've had two teams taken from us and a third they just wanted to kill to save money. Never again.
Could be argued the Vikings are cursed because they were supposed to be an AFL Charter team, but at the last second excepted an invitation from the rival NFL…idk
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME! THE SEASON CAN'T END LIKE THAT!" Yes, it can Paul, in fact, it usually does!
“TOUCHDOWN…NO!”
It's actually impressive how little Minny has accomplished.
They'd be ring-less in all sports if not for the Twins WS titles in 87 and 91. At least they were both memorable championship runs.
@@kaminsod4077let us have something
Winning two World Series is something, but you could say that puts them on the level of the Marlins.
They can look at the Lynx in the 2010s, where they are the most successful professional team in Minnesota: by winning four titles in seven seasons (would have been a three peat if it weren’t for a layup that my Sparks did in 2016. 😏)
Well, we have more than Iowa, so we’ve got something going on
Growing up and living in a part of Wisconsin which gets inundated by Minnesota OTA TV Channels, I have had a chance to see a lot of Minnesota sports failure happen. The really sad thing about their hockey team leaving was that it was predicated on the owner of the team having some legal troubles he decided to flee. I'm old, so my memory may be a bit off, but The North Stars were on the cusp of becoming great when they went to another state and became great there for a short time.
Superior or Hudson?
Time to update this video with the Kirk Cousins injury that happened today. Damn, it really sucks to be a Minnesota fan sometimes. Sucks more for Kirk right now.
As an MN sports fan, I knew just by the title this was going to be agony
For a comprehensive breakdown of the fortunes of the Minnesota Vikings - the third winningest team in the Super Bowl Era, they actually had their longest losing season streak before the Super Bowl Era - big recoomend for Secret Base's 7-part documentary on them. For major nerds who are also into sports, like me, series like that are amazing. Well, anything Jon Bois does is like crack for sports nerds like me. It's kind of amazing how much more winning their franchise does than any other team without a title.
The Lakers won like 5 titles before they left for LA. Those titles definitely count towards Minnesota but that's part of the curse, the best team took off!
I always wonder what is the metric by people saying ‘these titles count here.’ As in, are there people walking the streets of Minneapolis and saying in the open public, “ooh, those titles in ‘52 and ‘54 with George Mikan, those are ours!”
@@dbadefense1990 I think so as there is a Statue of Geroge Mikan outside the Target Center and they have at least 4 of the titles in the arena on the banner. Even when going retro the team wears the blue Minneapolis lakers jerseys or did back when teams were allowed to go retro with the uniforms, and LA Lakers either did the Minneapolis logo or went with the 1960's uniforms even having made for one season for LA Lakers by then sponsor Addidas for one season the little nylon or mesh duel layered polyester shorts in the style the teams used to wear pre 1986 and after 1960. I only know as I was at the game the day the player went down who tied the NBA record for most consecutive games played all the way though, but never beat that record.
The legendary Coach Bud Grant was on one of those winning rosters.
Just so you know for the fact that the Lakers won 5 chips before moving to LA right before Minnesota got an NFL expansion team and an MLB team from Washington. So the curse might be blamed on Elgin Baylor and Jerry West Lakers miseries.
I like how when they moved the team, they didn't change the name. Land of 10,000 Lakes vs. City of How Many Lakes? At least when the North Stars moved, the name slightly changed to Dallas Stars and made sense.
I love the face that five played all of the Wild highlights getting beat by the Dallas Stars. Lmao
As soon as I saw the title, I knew what state it was going to be: my own. If any of our teams win a championship, it'll be when I'm old and grey, if not dead, and I'm only 22.
At least we get the great calls by Vikings radio, I believe it is Paul Allen, after each fail. His calls and commentary are half of each memorable fall, and perfectly capture the fanbase.
As a Minnesota sports fan, I will forever love my teams, even in ineptitude. The Vikings and Wild have been my teams to watch for years now (and the Twins sometimes). I have tampered my expectations very low so I can manage heartbreak when it happens. One day, one of these teams will win a championship during my lifetime, but I might have to wait, which I am okay with.
Kirk just tore his Achillesvtendon after looking like a dark horse mvp candidate, please end the pain.
Lol, the ref has the most New York name ever.
At least we are optimistic. Vikings beat the 49ers and suddenly everyone is feeling Super Bowl bound. The week before everyone was saying they should trade Cousins so we can tank for Williams.
That's kind of the problem with Viking fandom. We always secretly talk ourselves into Maybe This Is The Year. We say we don't but secretly our sweet little hearts always actually believe somehow. Makes the end more painful every time.
Chiseled Adonis calls them the Minnesota Tinky-Winkies and he deserves universal props for this imo
Vikes with a Teletubby mascot would rule 😂
the fact that I'm seeing this after Kirk Cousins potentially tore his Achilles 😭
Its aging way too well
Tennessee has 4 major sports teams (counting MLS) and 0 championships
we don't talk about Super Bowl 34 or the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals; those were the absolute closest Tennessee Professional Sports teams got to winning a championship.
MLS isn't part of the "Big 4" like the video is talking about. You've had a MLS team for a couple seasons...no one feels bad they haven't won yet.
You've had a football team for less than a quarter century, a basketball team for 22 years, and a hockey team for 25. Meanwhile the Twins and Vikings are 62 years old, pro hockey in MN has been around for almost 50 years (North Stars + Wild), and the Wolves for 35 years.
tldr: Tennessee's teams as still fairly "new". You haven't suffered enough to be on any loser list.
The video only includes major league teams. While MLS has 'Major' in its name, it's more self-proclaimed 'major', rather than actually being major.
Besides that, Minnesota has a longer history of failure and disappointment. Tennessee teams are all still relatively new.

love the videos, glad you don't sound as sick keep up the awesome videos man.
I don't think i've ever seen a sports logo as divisive as the wild, its always either near the bottom on nhl logo lists or top 5, no in-between lol.
And just like that, Cousins tears his achilles.
I still hate that Ump. Much respect for doing a video on the plights of Minnesota
He looks like he knows what he did.
Trading for Gobert is the dumbest thing Minnesota could’ve done, the way that 21-22 team was structured was fine. KAT had defensive help with Jarred Vanderbilt and the same with Pat Bev helping D-lo in the backcourt and ANT to top it off, if they could’ve built on that structure they could’ve been consistently winning more
don't forget the vikings trading for RB hershel W
Wolves are wayyy better now and people think that trade messed us up but 4 of our core pieces are under 25 not to mention the depth. Kat will most likely get moved and Naz Daddy Ried will step in because his +- with Rudy is amazing
Actually Minnesota has two more pro sports teams besides the four mentioned in the video Minnesota United of MLS & the Lynx of the WNBA. The Lynx actually were the last team from Minnesota to win a title as they won the WNBA title in 2017 (and one in 2011). As for Minnesota United, they have yet to even appear in MLS Cup as the closest they have come was the Western Conference final in 2020 where they were 2-1 up with 5 minutes left only for Seattle to score two late goals (including the winner with a minute left). It is easily one of the biggest choke jobs in MLS history. All of the other playoff appearances for Minnesota United have been first round exits & the club missed the playoffs this season ending a 4 year run of making it. This is rare in MLS as 18 of the 29 teams make the playoffs under the current format.
Those are not major sports teams. The four major leagues are NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL.
Wow. Thanks for this as *the dark months* are starting man 😭
My man love it whenever you post
The most underrated sports town in the North America. Minnesota fans love and still show up for all these teams despite the misery!
Kind of a coincidence that this video comes out the morning Kirk cousins tears his Achilles as the vikings were slowly getting momentum for their season.
Amen brother a truer video has never been made. As a lifelong Minnesotan it's crazy that the only professional sports team that has done well in the last few decades was the Lynx, from the WNBA and no one cares (including me). At least we have college hockey though;) It also feels prophetic you dropped this video right before Cousins tore his Achilles.
Minnesota... 10,000 lakes, no rings.
They did give us Al Franken, Jesse Ventura and mf Prince though so no matter how long the sitcom Coach ran you guys are ok w/ me
and Bob Dylan and Judy Garland (Born in MN) too.
I lived in Meen-uhh-Sooow-tuh for the first World Series win. You have to admit they are very polite fans. They won, and applauded. The players were in the locker room, and came out and sat down and listened to the fans.
Their best claim to fame was Fargo....oh wait, that is in North Dakota.
what's your claim to fame djangus; we're the only state that didnt vote for reagan in 84
99% of the movie Fargo takes place in Minnesota. The directors changed the title to Fargo because it sounded better than 'Brainerd.'
4:19 I also have an idea of why he called it foul in the first place. 💵
If San Diego was a state.
Minus the good weather and Will Ferrell.
Crazy that you post this video the same day Cousins goes down with a season ending injury. Even more tragic as it seemed like the Vikings were finding their groove for the season. The curse is real.
Like the video I also think you need to do a video of the cursed city of Cleveland
I’ve literally been saying this for years!! I’m 26 y/o been a Minnesota sports fan my whole life, and I’ve never seen a sports team even make it to a championship game. When I tell people this from other markets it blows their mind.
FivePoints still doesn't get what logo is the Wild, it's a bear 🐻 head shape silhouette in forrest scenery and the shooting star tributes the North Stars
There is a supposed actual curse on the Vikings. Supposedly, when the Vikings won the 1969 NFL Championship game, they lost the Ed Thorp trophy and started the curse. The Ed Thorp trophy, was supposed to spend a year with the winning team of the NFL before it was passed to the next champion. The trophy was lost for years, after the Vikings won the 69 NFL championship, which started the curse. After that season when the NFL merged with the AFL, the Lombardi trophy represented the future NFL champions. Ironically, in a painful twist, the Packers had the Ed Thorp trophy in their possession and it was found some time in 2015. Anyway that was the curse of the Vikings.
Minnesota has 5 NBA championships with the Lakers in the 1950’s. 4 WNBA Championships with the Lynx , 2 MLB championships with the Twins and 1 NFL championship with the Vikings.
I'd say Washington is also pretty cursed, Mariners never making it to the WS, the one yard line int, losing the sonics.
Super Bowl 48 would beg to differ.
less than 6 hours of this video being posted, it is feared Vikings QB Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles during a game vs the Green Bay Packers. the Vikings stared 0-3. have since gone 4-1 to return to 4-4 and keep their season (and playoff hopes) alive; and more than likely lost their quarterback for the season...
Interesting video, I thought it would be about Ohio, outside the Buckeyes only the Cavaliers found any remote success
Columbus Crew have won the MLS title twice. But you're correct. Both MLB teams haven't don't much since the 90's, NFL is self explanatory, CBJ have been out of the first round one time, Cincinnati's MLS club made the playoffs this year and today is their first game. Hard to believe Ohio (where I live) have a few professional teams that haven't done much. I didn't include minor league affiliates for a reason.
I am surprised @FivePointsVids didn't mention the curse of the Ed Thorp Memorial Trophy. The Vikings won the last NFL Championship in 1969 before losing to the AFL champion Chiefs in Super Bowl IV. The Ed Thorp Memorial Trophy was the trophy awarded to the champions of the National Football League (NFL) from 1934 through 1969. Much like the NHL's Stanley Cup, it was passed from champion to champion. The trophy went missing and the spirit of Ed Thorp is believed to have cursed the Vikings, since they lost the trophy that was named in his honor. It was later discovered to be in the possession of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
This Fall marks 32 years since a major men’s franchise based in Minnesota has won a championship or even played in a finals.
What's heartbreaking is that the glamorous city of L.A. simply gets their success handed to them like candy to a baby. Lakers & Dodgers, & recently the Rams, all win their titles because the big names in sports just want to play there.
Minnesota has to draft their stars, the only one they didn't was probably Favre.
Hilarious this drops when Kirko tears his Achilles hahahahahahahahahaha im dead inside
As a Minnesota sports fan we have six championships the Twins have two World Series championships and the Lynx have four WNBA championships
Yeah, but who cares about the WNBA?
I bet MN's best high school boys team could beat any of those woooman's teams.
Ohio would like to have a word
Michigan as well.
@@Mr3711at least you guys had the Red Wings Dynasty
Nah fam. The Indians/Guardians, Cavs and Bengals have all been successful in the last decade
That's what I thought it was before clicking the video... I suppose the 2016 Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes bump them up juuuuust enough.
Absolutely shocking anyone could be more cursed.
Like half of my soul died to sports alone. A few "we're in the weirdest timeline" moments spares us here, I guess.
I guess the snowbirds are bad luck. They bring their bad luck to our Arizona sports teams as well. 😂

Expected Michigan or Arizona, but this is certainly a state.
This vid hits so much harder after Cousins tore his Achilles.
0:15 Five major sports teams, if you include Minnesota United. However, they have also not won any silverware.
6 if the Lynx of WNBA are included, if people ever gave THEM any credit lol. 4 championships in the last decade, most recently in 2017, plus 6 conference titles in that time as well.
MLS is more self-proclaimed 'major' (by having the word in its name) rather than actually being major. But yeah, that franchise certainly isn't helping things in Minnesota sports.
the fact that you could make a whole video of paul allen’s disappointment as he calls these games says it all
Hey, Arizona only has one championship between four teams. Hopefully that changes this week!!!
I commented the same. Think we are worse off. Hope we get another one this week. Dbacks are about the be kings of the valley with our only two titles. Let’s go Dbacks
Illinois and Wisconsin teams have a tendency to come up short, but at least both states agree that we aren’t Minnesota.
The Bears made it to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman at QB. That counts as a championship.
As a Bulls fan: we've generally been a nothing team and only experienced true greatness in the 90s.
The Cubs winning the World Series in 2016 (and White Sox in 2005) gives me a sliver of hope that one of our MN teams may eventually pull through. Or maybe curses can only be broke in Baseball.
Great video! Hurts, but well done
6:10 i actually really like their logo! the bear’s face made from the river/sun/forest/north star is actually one of the more creative logos in the league
My first ever (edit: LIVE, in-person) professional playoff game, in any sport, was just this last year watching the Twins break their streak. Legendary game

The wild logo is supposed to be a bear haha
Thank you for finally talking about the Curse of the North Stars.
Crazy you posted this today then Kirk tears his achilles..
The video failed to mention that the 1991 WS featured two teams who finished last in their divisions the year before, thus why it was called the Cinderella Series. Cinderella, however, might accurately describe the Twins more than the Braves considering the sustained success they had since then.
Indiana deserves to be considered alongside Minnesota. The Colts winning one Super Bowl over the course of back-to-back generational QBs. The Pacers have been stymied by MJ, Malice at the Palace, and the Big 3 Heat from having a legitimate shot at a potential title. Also worth mentioning the season-changing injuries to Paul George and Victor Oladipo. Lastly, their one trip to the NBA Finals was getting defeated in 6 games to the Lakers, the first of their three-peat stretch of championships.
No MLB or NHL team, and putrid college football team to go along with a college basketball team that hasn’t been relevant since the 80s (complete laughing stock by the time Bobby Knight finally got fired). There’s not much to right home about there and your SB victory with Peyton while you’d like more, is enough to canonize him and recent enough to keep you off any kind of list like this.
Always seemed to me places like that were more into NASCAR, evidenced by the lack of professional teams especially considering MLB and NBA have expanded numerous times in the past 3 decades and Indiana was never even whispered as a destination.
I don’t think it’s a question. Do you know how heart breaking it is to have one of the best offensive seasons in mlb history and lose 3 games to a team that we play EVERY YEAR FOR 15 YEARS. Then losing to a lesser Houston the next year in a sweep and being so shit yoj don’t even make it and the division being HANDED to you and you collapsing and getting 3rd in the division and you actually have a decent team and win a playoff game for the first time in 19 YEARS and losing to AN EVEN LESSER Houston in 4 games all in a five year span
Winning a Super Bowl automatically disqualifies you
@@ryanjohnson3749 by that logic, Minnesota should also be disqualified for the Twins winning two WS titles. One lone championship doesn’t negate all the bad luck and heartbreak that has plagued the Colts and especially the Pacers.
You don't have 4 'Big 4' teams...
Do Buffalo, Cincinnati, and San Diego have bad sports histories? Yes, but having 1 or 2 bad teams isn't remotely close to have 4 losing teams.
The timing of this upload could not have been any worse (or better?)

Minnesota has 7 men's titles all time. You gotta remember 5 of the Lakers banners were in Minneapolis, back when the team name still made sense. Honestly feels like ant is our best hope. I hope the team around him can manage.
Honestly, I would argue that Washington (Seattle) is almost as cursed.
Championships (Male sports)
MLB - 0
NFL - 1
NBA - 1*
NHL - 0
MLS - 2 (Really, the only consistently good thing in Seattle)
NBA team was relocated. That’s really painful for a city.
*Technically speaking, the championship goes with the franchise so OKC have Seattle’s only NBA championship.
MLB team has NEVER EVEN BEEN TO THE WORLD SERIES. 20+ playoff drought.
What hurts more with the wild is the one time they did make the conference finals they ran into a brick wall. Only scored one goal the whole series

FivePoints, what the hell was that between the Giants and Jets today???
damn bruh Im watching this after the Kirk Counsins injury...must be hard being from minnesota
I do think it's a stretch to label the Yankees as the Twins' "personal kryptonite" since... that's pretty much their role throughout all MLB. They're there to crush ALL dreams of people not in pinstripes.
And man, no wonder The Fumble Dimension has Kofie hopping between different universes. A Timberwolves empire WOULD completely break our world, judging by this video.
And Hal Steinbrenner is the Kryptonite of the Yankees. This year the Twins won their first season series against the Yankees since 1991. And the Yanks are likely to be worse next year.
The Timberwolves and Magic being dynasties would be an improvement over the real-life NBA, and I’m tired of pretending it wouldn’t be.
Except the Astros, who do it to both the Yankees and Twins
You can thank the 01 D-Backs for wrecking that, and then the 04 Sox put the final nail in, the Yanks are feared yes but not the same fear you had 20 years ago. I'd argue the Astros are that, or were, up until this year. THe Yankees are at least mortal nowadays

The wilds logo is amazing
Vikings were in top form, beat the 49rs, and then kirk our qb who was finally playing VERY good, best in his career, gets a season ending injury. I believe in the curse
Let’s be sort of realistic, if the Lakers don’t move to LA and (somehow) continue with their winning ways, the North Stars don’t move to Dallas and they win the Stanley Cup in 1999 and I saw this in a comment in this video, if Minnesota accepted their AFL expansion team (which turned out to be the Raiders) instead of waiting an extra year for the Vikings, the state of Minnesota would have 23 championships. 17 Lakers, 3 Vikings, 2 Twins and 1 Stars. Minnesota is just an extremely unlucky state man.
I lived in Minneapolis for quite a few years one place I worked actually took bets on how many people would freeze to death and die on the way to get their mail
Despite all the pain (or maybe partly because of it) Secret Base did a several hours long series on the MN Vikings I highly recommend. They are the 7th winningest team in the NFL but when you compare that to non-superbowl winners they are 1st by a WIDE margin. Also Bud Grant is one of the coolest coaches of all time
Might as well throw in the Cardinals “touchdown” against the Vikings that knocked us out of playoff contention. Really wish that could’ve been reviewed
You post this the same day Kirk Cousins gets a season ending injury? They truly are cursed!!!
Now cousins going down this hits too hard
I'm just over 30 years old and an unfortunate MN sports fan. It is insane to me that in my lifetime I've seen such little amounts of success in any of the 3 teams I watch (don't really watch basketball). But as we are very used to saying being a MN sports fan "I spose there's always next year"
You managed to curse Cousins by releasing this before the Vikings game.
I was just thinking of this last night
The Wild logo is awesome if you actually look at what’s in it. Also, you glossed over the North Stars who were just as inept as the Wild.
