Have you ever made a pattern from The Workbasket company or do you know anything about the history of this company?

My grandma used to get Workbasket booklets, they always had sewing, knitting/crochet tips and always a free pattern.

How neat! Especially since it came with a free pattern!

My Mom received the Workbasket magazine in the mail every month for years while I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. It was a great little magazine full of knit and crochet patterns, recipes, homemaking, and gardening tips. There were also sewing patterns etc. that you could order.

Wow! That is amazing! I didn't realize they made a magazine. Very fun! I'll have to look for one online.

I loved workbasket magazine. I got it when I was young, and my grandmother got it for years. It was a total crafting magazine. It had crochet, knit, macrame, so many crafts!! You can find old copies for free online. I think the bias was to cover the facing edge.

Sad at the end bcs can barely see you in your new outfit due to the next-video-suggestion box that popped up in the lower left blocking the view :( Emerald is your color, btw - so lovely)

Oh, I'll try to remember that in the future videos. Thank you for your kind comment.

This pattern is so pretty. I was gifted a few vintage patterns but I have to size up on them and I don’t know how. Did you record any of your sizing ups for this pattern?

So I didn't show it here. But in this video link I do size up a pattern on camera. czcams.com/video/EJ-hBAFDdsI/video.html Hope that helps!

    Very pretty!
Maybe the facing plus bias was to replace a lack of interfacing? I can see how it would keep the neckline extra crisp. Possibly there was still some kind of fabric rashioning going on. Or maybe the interfaceing of the time was expensive and saved for evening wear and a day dress used the cheaper alternative.

That is a good point, but this pattern also calls for interfacing so it's quite unusual.

So weird! If it's not a design element or functionality then what were they thinking!?
Does it replace under stitching? Did they combine instructions written by two different people? I'm going to be thinking about this way longer than any person should!! Lol
