- I asked my Patrons to choose my project for the Barbie movie and this is what they chose!
I played with Barbie all the time growing up and I loved making her new clothes.
So when the release date for the Barbie movie was fast approaching I decided to flip the tables and make a Barbie dress for myself!

The Closet Historian has the best pattern sizing videos out there!
Every time I see someone comment her name, my heart flutters. I’m glad to see others who appreciate her just as much as I do.
This is so lovely!!! Thank you for showing how you did a size up! As a plus sized lady myself, it’s nice to see someone who doesn’t just fit a standard pattern
What a pretty and flattering dress! That neckline treatment looks terrific and you look a lot better than ‘pretty good’ - I think it’s totally awesome! Can I predict more ‘Barbie’ in your closet?🥰🤣
😊 thank you 💜 I definitely want to add more pink to my wardrobe again 💗
I agree with you she looks gorgeous in it beautiful beautiful dress
If you do it in terracotta color for autumn you'll be the princess of autumn. This dress shape suit you so much
The dress is beautiful on you, and the white gloves are the perfect addition.
That’s really lovely and really clever and helpful to show how to enlarge the pattern xx
Glad it was helpful!💗
I just made my daughter a dress out of that fabric. She had a daddy/daughter night to go see the movie.
Yours turned out very pretty!
Erika
I wish I was in the audience at the theater to see you coming down the isle! You are beautiful!
I love the dress, and that end sequence was adorable! Very Barbie if I do say so myself💕
A very pretty good fitting dress. I appreciate your use of quality sewing techniques. I will keep note of the unusual draping of the collar (leave it to Vogue for that). I had no idea the square neck bodice was the drape secrete.
Hello thank you for the videos tutorials I am a vintage woman 62 years old I am so happy God bless you
This is so cute! Although I love pink I'm finding all this pink kind of hilarious -- my Barbie came in a yellow satin jumpsuit with a lacy half-overskirt and a matching hat.
On Wednesdays we wear pink 😉💗💗 heehee
Aah I loved the getting dressed sequence! Also the dress looks fantastic!
Yay, thank you! I had fun with that 😆
Turned out great! I’m impressed by the grading of size and the fit! In a fancier fabric it could be a pretty evening dress too… 😍😍😍
I would love to remake this in a different fabric with the view B sleeves 💜
You go Girl! You ailed it. Fabulous dress making tips and fun to watch. Awesome!👍
This dress is so beautiful! And more barbie projects would be amazing! :)
Thank you! 😊
Your dress turned out great. To give your collar a little more body, starch is what my mother used on her her cotton dresses. I can't wait to see more Barbie style dresses.
I love the reveal! That was so Barbie! Such a cute outfit. I love it and I can't wait to see your next one!
Thank you 🤗
That dress is gorgeous - it suits you so well. Wonderful colour and glamorous, without being tarty! It’s really hard sizing up patterns for a full bust and the darts always come up too high! You did so well and it made me smile, especially when you wore it with the Berkenstock sandals! Yeah, perhaps those lovely white sandals were more in keeping. Lol 😂 Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you so much!
When Stephanie Canada shows her vintage patterns with busts that are way to small 😢 i think if anyone can alter a pattern its you Marika! 🩷 So glad you took on this challenge 👍 You look incredible and very girlie feminine! Definitely do more please .💞
A lot of those vintage patterns are just so small... I'm not even considered a plus size and most of what Stephanie shows wouldn't fit me!
So nice! And you look so cute in it! The three of you twirling was so lovely! I just wish you had had your hair in a French twist.
You did a fantastic job with the pattern alteration and creating the dress. It looks beautiful on you.
Thank you so much!
You made adding inches so easy !! It turned out so nice !!!😊
Thank you! 😊
Turned out wonderful! now I want to get some patterns for my BJD
I defiantly have to get that paper you use for tracing!! In the olden days I used newsprint ends and carbon paper. Your way looks so much easier!!
The dress is stunning! I love the collar such a nice look!
It is medical table paper! I have it linked in the description 💗 it is roughly $8 a roll vs $36 for the sewing tracing paper 💀😅
@@EnchantedRoseCostumes thanks! I still have newsprint paper. Longtime ago you could go to the newspaper and get a crazy amount for a few bucks. I still have carbon paper from that time as well. But yeah your way is faster so thank you for the link.
I've been using sheets of white newsprint packing paper for my patterns, I do my tracing the dumb way but if you can make a light box it would wory really well (just a sheet of something transparent over a box with a phone flashlight could work, or heck, stick it to a patio door window or something).
@@bunhelsingslegacy3549 I hadn’t thought of a light box either. I guess I just enjoy complicating my life
@@robintheparttimesewer6798 Haha, don't we all. My "dumb way" of tracing does not involve a light box, but if I were working with a vintage pattern or something I don't want to poke holes in, I'd figure out how to turn the glass coffee table into a light box. Though I suppose one could use newsprinted ads as a really crappy form of carbon paper, a lot of the cheaply printed ones will transfer ink with pressure. I'm all about making do with what I've got.
Well done all that hard work. You look happy and beautiful in this dress 👗😍 UK 💕
the end result is really cute
How clever you are to alter the pattern. The dress is lovely. I love your videos you always seem so happy. Greetings from Ontario.
You look adorable in your dress. So so cute.
It turned out so good. 😍 And the reveal was so cute. 🥰
That was a labpur of love. I was given some pretty 1960s vintage dress patterns but they are for a bust 32/34 and way too small. I haven't felt up to sizing them up and doing a full bust adjustment and so on. Well done you!
u look awesome in the dress, and I loved how u presented it !! u did a fabulous job !!!
Adorable! Fits beautifully, too. Excellent work and thank you for sharing your process 💗
You are so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Such a pretty dress. It really suits you.
I love how cute this dress is! And pink! Love the pink
I am so glad pink in right now! It used to be one of those colours I wore everyday!
@@EnchantedRoseCostumes I'm glad it's in too! I used to pretend I didn't like pink at one point...but now I love wearing the colour. Could use more pink in my wardrobe tbh lol
Omg that dress looks stunning! Suits you so well. Awesome vid! 😊
Thank you so much!! 💗
You look fabulous! So impressed with how you sized up the pattern. Still seems like witchcraft to me 😄
It took some head scratching 🤪 but it turned out in the end! 😁
That sizing up method is so smart!
That was great! You look so cute! The dress is lovely!
Thank you😊 I have two 1940s patterns that I would love to try this method on in the future!
The reveal was sooo cute 🥰
I agree it's a very beautiful dress. The dress looks beautiful on you too. Of course my favorite color is pink. I look better in pastel colors. That's just me you do what you love. God bless you and your family
Thank you so much 😊
You look fabulous! Enjoy the movie!
Loved that this was a Vogue pattern. Very pretty.❤
This is fabulous! TY for showing this process! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
What a beautiful dress.
The finishing on the dress is *chef's kiss*! I have always wondered how to enlarge those vintage patterns. Thanks so much for leading me on the right direction! I hope you go for a fabulous picnic in that dress. Too good and opportunity to miss. ❤
Love this, beautiful dress, and looks wonderful on you
Beautiful dress, it looks good on you.xx
Absolutely lovely! Great job💜
❤ Very cute! Great job!!!
that turned out so good
Very pretty!
Yes to more Barbie! Lovely dress!
Looking forward to a video on French seams, I understand the concept but fail when it comes to implementation, especially when multiple seams intersect, like under the arm...
Glad you managed to size it up and make it fit!
I have some lavender gingham but I don't think I'll be making a Barbie dress out of it, not my style, but that looks just great on you!!
Absolutely precious! As always, your projects are fun and pretty and informative!
You looked beautiful in your pink gingham dress. That color suits you wonderfully 😊. Are you going to make the coat that goes with it? It would look just as wonderful 🥺.
What a beautiful dress!
Wowzers! I'm learnin' sew much'
I love the finished dress!!
I love this so much!
So cute!
This is so beautiful! Pink looks good on ya!
You have such a sweet spirit. Loved this video.
Very pretty dress!!!!!!!
I love that collar!
Great video! I love the dress and it looks great on you!
this style looks so cute on you and yes to the barbie stuff.
squeeeeee!!!! what a great project, and what a fun reveal!!!!!
Thank you! I had a lot of fun with it
the dress turned out soo nice! and i think the fabric you picked is not only a perfect match for barbie's dress, it also suits you very very well :)
You did an amazing job with this. I love seeing you take the mystery out of sizing a pattern to fit! Much better than off the rack clothing.
You look stunning! The colour and style are perfect for you. All that hard work altering the pattern really paid off 💖
What a great dress, looks so great on you. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!
You did such a great job sizing that pattern! And what silly fun how you dressed for the reveal.
You look beautiful! Great job!
beautiful!!!
super cute! once i can grab some gingham i think ill need a playsuit!
Beautiful dress! Now you’re ready for your new career as a teenaged fashion model like Barbie. Barbie was also a teacher, an astronaut, a secretary (like me)-you have a lot of choices!
You look fabulous ❤. I like that you showed us your process, giving us hope we could do it too.
Beautiful.......you look Amazing.
Adorable!
Awe shucks, thank you 😊
Love it! It's very cute
Thank you! 😊
Cute dress. Now I think I have an idea on how to size my vintage patterns to fit my size. Thank you.
You are so welcome! Good luck with your patterns!!
Have you thought of making a petticoat to go under the dress? I think it would look great and be fun to wear with a little bit of "fluff"under it. Love the fabric choice for that pattern. Great job.
I have a 1950/60s petticoat on my never ending "to make" list 😆
@@EnchantedRoseCostumes I know the feeling of so many projects and so little time. I've had to pare down my project dream list some. It looks like I will still die with many undone projects. I will need another lifetime to do them all, although now that I think about it, more years will also come with more desirable projects. Oh well.
Perfect.❤Soooooo fancy
Beautiful
Thank you 🥰
I never cut patterns anymore. Haven’t for years. I always transfer even if I don’t change anything so that the pattern is filed with info on who it was for.
What a lovely, joy filled project. I think your girls would look lovely in some age apporiate Barbie outfits.
I have plans and the fabric, but this summer has just been speeding by! 😂😅
Darling dress💐
Thank you 😊
You look beautiful. I love this look on you
💗💗💗
I LOVED YOUR CHANNEL 😍😍. THE DRESS IS JUST AMAZING BEAUTIFUL GOOD WISHES FROM BRAZIL.
Thank you so much!!
great! with the dress make a 60s style hair
Wow how beautiful you look fantastic. I would love to know where your green shoes are from. 😊❤
Do you mean the cross strap shoes? They are from America Duchess. It looks like they are sold out in the ivory, but they do come in other colours www.americanduchess.com/products/astoria-womens-edwardian-shoe-ivory?variant=41363187171478
Oh my gosh, those shoes are perfect. Would you let us know where you got them? You look marvelous.
Thank you 💗 They are from American Duchess.
@@EnchantedRoseCostumes I just visited the American Duchess site. What an amazing find. Thank you.
Danke
Você é linda e muito simpática!
Sensacional, parabéns!
Not a Barbie fan but love the dress
Birdy
What are you tracing the pattern on please
👗
💗👗💗
Birkinstocks!
Yup! I got them when I broke my foot last year, and they were great for a little tongue in cheek humor 😆
Вы очень нежная и женственная в этом наряде!!!👍
Thank you! It makes me feel very feminine.
I was born in 61.
