What really blew me away was the story in this game. I did not expect it at all. Once I started doing the story quests.. man.. the music.. the revelations... The second dream questline is still one of my alltime favourite game questlines. And one of the best things in this game is the community. You can always find someone to help or explain something. The most important thing is that because it is such a vast game you can play however you want to play it. Open world - you got it, stealth mission - pick the right frame and weapons and no one will ever know you were there, prefer the heads on approach - pick a map and go wild. It really is a great game overall.

I think the only thing I and most other Warframe veterans can really do is recommend playing through the main story until you complete the second dream. As a Warframe player of many years, its interesting to hear your take on the game.
Just some clarification: a Prime (weapon or warframe) is a slightly better version of the base model, example: Mag and Mag Prime.
Mag is one of the Starter warframes, while Mag Prime is a slightly better version you can farm later via the relic system (the loot table thing mentioned in the video)
While Primes are generally a bit stronger, it is important to know they are not necessarily a MUST HAVE.
I hope you continue to enjoy the game though.

    • @alexc664
      @alexc664 Před 2 lety +28

The most important thing is that not only is there a negligible difference between them but you can farm the quite easily in even early-mid game, they are not and do not feel locked behind $cash$ transactions even for "premium"... Nothing in this game feels locked behind money like other games where you have to play 200 hours to complete some battlepass to unlock one nice looking skin...
This is one if those games where you come back to it after a few months/years to complete more of your collection, new missions/story and you actually get excited from unlocking new stuff, new builds, etc Recently we got space battles/maps and it really felt like a new game :)
Also if you are into lore and stuff everything is connected it has a story, even frames have a individual origin stories.

For real tho generally speaking the press 4 to win warframes have poor energy management while the more active ones generally have much better. There's also warframes like Rhino who work better as weapon buffers to fit alternative playstyles.
There isn't really a meta in the game outside of resource farming, you can play whatever frame you want and have fun, if you aren't having fun because you picked a press 4 to win warframe then consider playing a different warframe. I recommend Garuda, she's very self sufficient and while her abilities may seem fairly weak alone, by combining them all you get some amazing results.

10 years and thousands of hours later and I'm still enjoying Warframe. Yes, some of it is a grind but in the world of grindy games, Warframe is really not bad compared to other games I play.
    Tips:
Gain access to a clan dojo for "easy" access to weapons and gear
Complete the star chart (for full unlocks)
Complete all your quests (for fun storyline based gameplay and interesting lore and a better understanding of the game)
Get familiar with all the different mission types
Get yourself a set of extractors so you can passively collect resources when you're not playing
    And.... HAVE FUN!
The beautiful thing about Warframe is that for the most part you really only have to do the things that you enjoy doing. Once you get all the items on the list above done, you really aren't tied to doing what the game tells you to be doing. You can spend your time doing the things you enjoy in the game. If something is locked behind parts of the game you don't enjoy too much, go to recruiting chat and get a team together to help you get past it as fast as possible. Warframe really is in a league all on its own when it comes to the variety that a single game offers. Enjoy!

As far as recruiting players to help with getting past points you don't enjoy, there are many, and I mean MANY players that sit and watch chat specifically for those things that they enjoy, but other might not. Take me for example, I thoroughly enjoyed farming bosses for frame blueprints. At one point I think i had around 300 Lephantis keys, and about 60 Mutalyst Alad keys. I helped so many people farm the frames they wanted that it's ridiculous.
Granted I haven't played in ages at this point, but up until the time I fell away from the game, I had farmed and built every single frame available so that I could swap to whatever was needed for sorties or long running survival/defense missions. Want to solo survival for hours on end? Melee tank Nekros or Ice tank Chroma were my top picks, with Valkyr and Mesa right below them. Defense mission? Grab yourself a Slowva or a Toxic Cloud Saryn, or if your feeling lazy just go Ice Bubble Frost and bring a buddy on Ember.

But most free 2 play games give you everything at start to make you feel powerful and then throw a unbypassable difficulty curve that you cannot pass unless you pay up or are forced ungodly amounts of hours grinding to bypass.
While Warframe is a grind game, it's not an unfair grind game. The grind is actually fun. If anything, buying things with platinum removes the experience as you're robbing yourself of fun time and the experience you would have otherwise had melting face.

Best tip I can give: look for weapons that seem fun. You want a shotgun that shoots radiation or glass shards? or a machine gun that has homing projectiles? or a bow that literally shoots miniature nukes or anything else? Look through the weapons in your loadout when in your orbiter. There is a list of all weapons that exist, owned or not. Weapons MASSIVELY change your gameplay. And some of them feel really good to use. You can look at the different status effects that the weapons have (bleed, puncture, impact) and then you can use mods to further increase those stats. Make a lightning shotgun? How about a bow with 130% crit chance so your crits will crit! Yes that is a thing. (Red crits are so satisfying). All weapons have a predisposition towards a certain element or physical damage type. (Go for bleed if you can. Impact and puncture are sadly almost useless)
Same goes for melee. You don’t even have to swap to your melee weapon. You can just use the quick melee button to seamlessly swap between ranged and melee.

Pro Tip: The wiki is your best friend. It has information on all the frames, all the gameplay systems, all the loot locations, and all the behind-the-scenes math. The latter (look up the "damage" page) is incredibly important to at least have a basic grasp on as you get past the first few planets. It defines how the modding system works. Enemies scale exponentially, so if you don't have better-modded gear by the time you hit Jupiter/Saturn, you're going to have a rough time (solo at least).

@@Mark-lf9cn I agree that they've done a historically bad job of explaining things in-game. I think that because up until recently, new players very slowly trickled in, DE could rely on veterans to catch the majority of stanceless-MK1 Bo-wielding Excaliburs and explain the major systems (I'm not excusing this as good behavior. It isn't).
With JSH and now WoW refugees finding the game and describing the same BS veterans have been complaining about for years to a huge number of potential players (not to mention the upcoming cross-play stuff), DE may actually start implementing better 'new player experience' functions, that don't rely on veterans. For the last few years, they've been almost single-mindedly implementing the systems needed for their vision of The New War. They have shown a strong deferrence to new players over veterans in the past, so it wouldn't be surprising if they continued the trend of NPE-based changes they've made in response to new reviews. I have to imagine they know the mobile gaming crowd is significantly less patient than PC or console, so they may make some of these changes as they shift focus from New War to cross-play.

Yes the challenge for some missions in the 10-40 range can seem easy, however there's 2 ways to deal with that - [1] You get yourself into the steel path or higher tier challenge (level 60 - 110+) where you will really feel the tension and challenge, or you put yourself in survival missions where the difficulty continues to scale forever, and this can be incredibly fun. and [2] You can solo play (in my opinion the ultimate challenge) with some of the physically more fragile frames (Banshee) on level 60+ missions, and try to accomplish the entire run without a single alarm going off. That is some top tier entertainment.

    - The f2p modes is one of the best in the game as you can trade (and thus earn) the premium currency without relying on a drip feed from the devs
    - The clan dojo's are -awesome- (check out some of the feautured dojo's). Don't think I've seen any guild/clan hall system that offers as much creative freedom (as well as a clan resource farm efford) as this
    - The variety in weapons and warframes and their looks; Loads of them and they are almost all distinctive from each other
    - The second dream was an awesome questline
The game has some flaws, but eh, I'll keep the message positive this time :) As in the end, for a f2p game I've had many many hours of enjoyment with it.

I love that you're trying out the game, I've played it since release, and have over 3k hours in it, still don't have everything because there's a lot of things you can do, and I've just not been going after it all yet. XD If you want someone who can help though, I'd be more than happy to as well. One good thing about the Warframe community is they're pretty helpful to most new players, and asking a question is going to get an answer more than it would on WoW where I've been told to "just look it up" a lot.

Love to see a new player experiencing warframe since the new player update. Back when a lot of us started they really gave us no direction and just said "have fun". You have *barely* scratched the surface of what the game has to offer: from cinematic quests, to railjack (basically piloting an actual starship, as opposed to archwing, which is more just you in space) to high level modding, the long list of warframes for different playstyles, the hundreds of weapons that each have a unique *something*, to end game level enemies, the helminth system (allows you to change abilities of a warframe to better suit your playstyle). All of this awaits if you want to sink the time and effort into getting there.

Content creators agree, but they also say that the new player exp is “well now what” I was pleasantly surprised to watch your play and breakdown of it. A “fresh look” i you will. The open world bosses are a lot of fun and most of the community is quite pleasant. So there are a lot of veterans who will just give mods/prints(do not buy ignis wraith, people print it for next to nothing) and “taxi”(take you to a node you haven’t unlocked…so you can be new and experience the “end game”. Railjack has mixed reviews in the community but if you liked arching - Railjack is WAY better. Enjoyed this vid!! Thanks

I've played a lot of warframe in the past. The only problem I have with it is there are too many systems in it. I was like MR26 and the amount of systems there were kind of put me off. That and that there are some things that are a bit too much of a grind. Don't get me wrong I don't mind the grind but some things in warframe are a bit much. My honest opinion is they need to do a big sweeping pass on the game and clean up all the things that they have just duct taped on over the years. It just seems a bit of mess at the moment. I would go back if they ever cleaned the game up though.

I think it is fun to know that there are like 3-4 depending on how you count them game play modes for your character that you have yet to see. All of them fun and all of them important to the game. On top of that additional enemy types, so many frames and weapons many of them with very different abilities. The mod system is fascinating as well if you are into it. There is a somewhat wierd trading system and please do yourself a favor by either starting or joining a clan to get access to a dojo. I mean there are entire sections of your own ship you have yet to discover (all are important). While grinding them is no fun, following the mission questline is awesome too, because at the end is the upcoming new quest just announced as coming the 15th December.

The open worlds are not really meant for new players right off the bat.
My suggestion is do the star chart and quests as they pop up. Then once you have a handle on things you have three open worlds, space combat, world bosses and more.

I honestly your approach is better than just following what other people tell you. I poured more hours into it than the other players at my rank would have because my overall progress was slower but figuring stuff out for myself was fun. I kept getting surprised by the things and mechanics I found. So really, my advice is really just do it at your own pace. It's more fun that way. There are different types of players so you can have your own priorities.
I play WF in chunks and take breaks from time to time. And I usually have specific goals in mind when I dive in. The game is grindy but you know exactly where to look for whatever it is you want. It's satisfying to dive in with a specific goal in mind and achieve it. Come back with a different goal and do that next. All while tinkering with my Warframes and weapons to make everything fresh and fun all the time.
But yeah, I'm excited to see what you find. And also see what you think of the main story line and the WF lore.

  • @AutisticAl
    @AutisticAl Před 2 lety +3

I’ve loved Warframe for MANY MANY years. Not long after beta in fact. And I can honestly say this feels like it is NEVER mentioned. But basically the game has expanded to like 4 fully fledged new games all in 1. The movement has been revamped, the pets have, mods, tile sets, storylines, melee, core game mechanics, and so much more! Now imagine literally ANY big game franchise over this period doing the same. You can’t. Why? Well first of all, Warframe has managed to maintain what I think is the longest generated hype for ANY video game of all time. Still going strong after all these years and if it were any other game company. You’d have payed hundreds, if not thousands of pounds in DLC packs. It’s also why I quickly learned as a veteran gamer that it was worth while to F2P players. As almost everything could be grinded for free. Most games wouldn’t dream of giving their fans such freedom. Their latest quest took 3 f*****g years to finish! Also if you’re new to the game and like updates and community feedback, the crew have been doing live-streams since the beginning of time, and you quickly become invested with what feels more like a family you’re invested in, rather than a dev stream. The devs are funny, charismatic and not afraid to poke fun at the community and themselves. You can literally FEEL the passion gone into this game. The mod system alone is out of this world. Hidden features you’ll still be finding 7 years later and even build for frames that do the compete opposite of what they were intended for (ie Slowva Nova becoming speed nova). I cannot say enough good things about this game, and the glitches and bugs are so rare, you’d think this was a perfect game. Things are constantly being patched and fixed like a passionate engineer on a big project. I have played thousands of video games with probably close to millions of hours (if that’s even possible lol) and I can safely say this is as close to a perfect game as you’ll find.

Warframe is pretty amazing, and it's only getting better. I don't play it anymore but it's a fun timesink for sure, and there's actually an engaging story (along with new gameplay elements) introduced like 100 hours into the game lol. If anything, I'd say there's a bit too much to learn, plenty of systems to get used to, but once you're used to the game, it all flows very nicely. There are grindwalls for a bunch of stuff though, dunno if they've made them easier over the past couple of years, but you'll probably be tempted to get certain things in the premium store that would otherwise take you tons of hours of rng farming, including some warframes, but at least you can get premium currency by trading stuff in-game so that's quite convenient too.

The Game isn't really a grind, so much as the addiction to collection of all things drives some to exhaustion, which happens for some few players. You don't actually NEED many of the things in warframe, rather its more the pursuit of fun and "options" .. new ways to play or experience the game. I would call this game more horizontal progression focused. The actual gameplay itself, and (when you find or create challenge) is where the game shines. And Also as some would mention the Story & Lore of the game really develops and becomes something amazing with time.

    Hey Preach,
    So, my suggestions.
Think ahead for each weapon and how you want them to end up. You probably arnt deep enough into the game to really grasp the intricacy of how in depth and how lethal you can build weapons. But you can make anything, even the dinky MK1 -Braton into a powerful weapon with time and forma. My suggestion is find the weapons you think are cool and use those, dont go chasing trends.
Make sure you rank up all weapons to 30 before you sell them ( unless your a madman and you literally want to keep every weapon in the game ) to maximize your character growth. Most importantly: Have fun and ask questions. I have never encountered a community more willing to help their fellow gamers/ninja's. They would rather spend 5 minutes explaining something then lose a rare key cause somebody didn't know what to do.
I hope your time in Frame is a good to you as it was to me.
