Genie's Open x Trains Across The Sea - Animal Collective (Silver Jews Cover) | LIVE Performance | SiriusXM
• Genie's Open x Trains ... - Zábava
Most obscure cover and most delightful vocal interplay on an XM session in a minute
I’m so impressed with Panda Bear’s drumming/vocals, such a tricky thing to do well and he nails it
Especially while trippin ballz
I wouldn't say he 'nails it' - he always seems to be flat when he sings live. When it comes to recording, his vocals and melodies are amazing!
Drumming, singing AND wearing Crocs??? Panda is an icon.
drums slay bass slay hurdy gurdy slay deak slay... the electric bass is so sick, panda's drumming style in this era is great. time skiffs is one of the best drum albums i've ever heard
after months of hearing genies bootlegs it totally caught me off guard hearing the other song get mixed in. best version of this song ever :)
Ahhh - good ol' spawns of Baltimore weirdness delivering another plate of soul nourishing tunes. What is it about these guys? And such a great cover! I could put this on endless loop and continually drive around Loch Raven all morning.
Amen
I’m here for the Silver Jew Collective
you found it. Long live Berman
Me too
This song needs to be on an album !
Got it
21 years in, at their creative and performative peak. Thank you SIRIUS. Would love the whole set too!! :)
Totally. These dudes are making the most beautiful music at this stage of their careers.
Upload more please!!!! We want the whole thing!!!! So good. Nice to hear the full thing at the end😊
Love it. Release the full set!
0:36 camera perspective makes it look like panda is playing a giant moog
Always to make our inner strings vibrate on the right side. Lights in the dark.
Tomorrow in Porto, Panda and Sonic for the presentation of the Reset album. I will be there ❤️
this is awesome, reminiscent of how they covered the other one going into water curses
That is what I thought too! Would be cool to hear them incorporate this cover into their live shows
Absolutely Incredible. Animal Collective at their peak
That would be true if not for the rest of their discography.
Oh they freaked it. New album when?
Isn't it now?
Flawless transition into a Motorik jam... pretty freakin sweet
panda still has that shirt. cool. also damn this is a great set
edit: he's drumming with crocs on bro what
Damn this is actually much better than the album version lol
No way they have a hurdy gurdy! I can't wait for this album
drumming in crocs lets goooo
da crocs or princess mononoke pin for today? 💯🔥
looks like deakin really leaned into the bob nastanovich role for that cover
proving bob's greatness cannot be approached
@@adambrunner9621 absolutely true
these guys are awesome :)
Love
HELL YEAHHHHHHH
Ayyyyyy
Delicious.
Deakin lookin like Kendall Roy
🐐s
casual hurdy gurdy
why does genie’s open sound like Like Spinning Plates by Radiohead
That princess mononoke pin is dope
yay
Is that a fricking herdy gerdy?
Sounds like Bono singing Berman
Also, cannot WAIT for the next album.....AGHHHHH
Hii
bands who do psychedelics dont usually seem to make sad music
Strawberry Jam is a pretty moody album
@@pringlesmanhadashave1321 this guy reads lyrics
ehhh Syd Barrett
The cure enters the chat
As a long time fan of the Silver Jews I can honestly say I will definitely not be listening to this again. Ever.
Bad take
David would have hated this
which somehow makes it even better
@@essential_listening A poignant, meaningful song cheapened into Dead cover band territory
@@jimjimjimjim7934 You have no idea what you're talking about
Edit: For one, Berman was very into his Judaism, and the melody of the second part of Genie's Open is very Hebrew school sounding and it is beautiful
Why?
@@jimjimjimjim7934 paltry and reductive. David wouldn't approve of your vapid critique either.
dang, i used to really like them.
this is just boring.
Theyre family dudes in their 40s. What do you do expect?
@@Chonchoeagleclaw that's ur internal calculation, that 40s are boring and thats ok? not good enough- this is too close to hacky-sack phish territory for me- yikes.
Have your heard their recent projects like their album from earlier this year? Definitely not boring stuff.
@@pauldavis7318 yes- very underwhelming- i really like the new panda bear tho. i'm not giving up on them, just not holding my breath- Painting With was the last one i truly enjoyed, since then its been nostalgia fumes that are getting thinner and thinner. Deakin could be the problem, i dunno. its just all so meandering and FLAT.
@@gregadkins2749 I definitely prefer Painting with over Time Skiffs, but I wouldn't call the more up-beat Time Skiffs songs, like Car Keys, meandering and flat. Cherokee is damn near a masterpiece
