I miss David so much. I was blessed to have spent some amazing time with him in Toronto, Canada. ‘A web of sewer, pipe, and wire connects each house to the others’. Thinking of you always.
watching this makes me realise even harder how important bob must've been for steve back in the day; to have a guy in your corner with that sort of energy you can lean on must have been a great comfort
I was incredibly lucky to both see Silver Jews live and meet and talk with David in person, in Glasgow 08. They say don't meet your heroes? Nah, he was a dream.
I saw the band back in ‘06 I think in 3 US cities. I managed to speak to all his bandmates but could not build up the courage to talk to him. Even Cassie was like “you need to share that story with David.” I was planning on thanking him for everything on you Purple Mountains tour… oh well

Really? I listen and the pain is there and I guess since I'm depressed as fuck and it's always been there it doesnt bother me. I like to hear a kindred spirit, so to speak, do his thang. I'll never stop listening to SJ and purple mountain
Cheers Human clock. I created this account for the sole purpose of thanking you. I would have given anything to be there but this serves as the perfect consolation prize. This has drawn a line somewhat, ill put my jews and the purple mountains down for a while now. God bless bob and steve! Bring on primevera R.I.P DCB (SORRY FOR THE GAPS)
¡Mike B! I really wanted to go to bunk bar but I heard a rumor they sold out and stopped making sandwiches for the general public before I could even work up an appetite
Yeah. Although they are talking about the passing of David, I thought about how this was one of the last ones I recorded before everything changed and it ended up being a tough year(s) for everyone.
@@christophercochran2060 imagine it was hard for him being thought of by some as a pavement side project when his work was obviously intensely meaningful to him and something he painstakingly created
I got the impression that he was feeling defeated or cheated by recording music. Also he proved he could make incredible music without Malkmus much to my surprise. And thank God for Cassie otherwise he would never have toured
I wish this was a lot better. I like raw and messy but not when it’s paying homage to such an artist. Thankfully it came together (finally) with Trains Across The Sea, thanks to Bob.
“Feel free to talk to me about David anytime.” Bob, I hope some day I can take you up on that.

this version of trains across the sea always makes me tear up, you can see both of them get choked up by what bob says before
man when bob stands up to sing backing vocals on advice to the graduate

So much sweetness and tenderness here. Thank you.
This is wonderful. Loved the Silver Jews. RIP David.
Ty for this. RIP David. Loved Silver Jews and Pavement. God, this is just lovely. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
A touching tribute from friends, wish I could've been there
"Dave, he used a lot of words". yes. he did.
I needed this, thank you Stephen and Bob, and may you Rest In Peace David ❤️

Hey thanks! There is also a 4k version with improved audio, link is in the description.
Were here for a good time not a long time. Enjoy yourselves. Its later than you think. X. Every cloud has a silver lining...some are even gold.
I need to write this one down
I think it's very sweet. Any roughness is easy to understand under the circumstances.
This is actually very, very good. Watched it twice, will watch again and again. Classic stuff.
Thanks, I might put out a special "72 hour anniversary reissue" once I get the 2 track board feed.
I just put up a 4k version with better sound here: czcams.com/video/VniXQKNjYhU/video.html

THANKS YOU! I really wanted to go to this, but it was sold out before it was even announced! :D
¡Mike B! I really wanted to go to bunk bar but I heard a rumor they sold out and stopped making sandwiches for the general public before I could even work up an appetite
oh man. this happened. thanks for footage
rip david berman. you will be missed.
DAVID LIVES!
To anyone claiming this is too sloppy a tribute,
The Silver Jews could be way, way sloppier than this.
x
Maybe in the early days
No one should apologize for some of the most brilliant songwriters on the planet at one of them's wake
Same goes for early Pavement (the best Pavement).
Pretty sure the words “Pavement” and “sloppy” have become synonymous at this point (and I mean that in a positive way)
Whoa. Nice.
I find it really hard to listen to the Silver Jews now. It's still very painful.
When they say it's been a tough year, isn't this right before covid? damn what a dark rabbit hole we've all been in.
Yeah. Although they are talking about the passing of David, I thought about how this was one of the last ones I recorded before everything changed and it ended up being a tough year(s) for everyone.
It seems so natural to see those two play together, I wonder why they never got to play more with David...
Well, he kicked them out of the band, so...
@@christophercochran2060 imagine it was hard for him being thought of by some as a pavement side project when his work was obviously intensely meaningful to him and something he painstakingly created
people are complicated
The fact that he didn't want to be seen as a pavement side project is why this whole thing is in poor taste
I got the impression that he was feeling defeated or cheated by recording music. Also he proved he could make incredible music without Malkmus much to my surprise. And thank God for Cassie otherwise he would never have toured

Well, it's pretty sloppy and not in a good, Pavement way. But a nice gesture I suppose. So long Dave.
Thank you for uploading.
