Avey impersonating the samples was a really nice touch.
David Firth well hello Mr. David Firth, glad to see you are a fan of this band!
Yeah in college 2003 we used to laugh about devvo salad fingers and limmy 🤗. Good memories dave!!!! Respect
Didn't think I'd see you here! Have a wonderful day, Mr. Firth!
David Firth i would like to add that i just watched you recent video "cream". Awesome, i love the ideas floating around in that video
This video made my day, then I saw you here. It was like someone rubbed some
cream on my forehead or some shit.
i love seeing a crowd go wild and singing along to such weird songs. warms my heart
"meeeeowwww KITTIES!"
Same
When they clapped during Mouth Wooed Her I was like "YESSS"
I saw them on this tour in denver and can conform college was a religious experience
THERES A PLACE I KNOW WHERE WE CAN GOOOO
SLIDE ON DOWN THE WOODEN STAIRCASE~
This is genuinely the best crowd I've ever seen. I never thought something like this was even possible. Holy hell
Animal collective is one of the most important bands to ever exist.
A. Lara definitely and ABSOLUTELTLY the most important modern band. They are our beatles through and through.
Sound8Vision I mean I love them more than the Beatles, but that's pushing it a little
(
Sound8Vision more like our Rolling Stones ha
the aren't like anyone they are just iconic in their own way
I can safely say this is the most psychedelic performance by an acoustic duo I've seen
I know, it's great. They're amazing to watch. There's something so authentic about it. Really great stuff.
You should check out an old performance of Sung Tongs then, it's really... interesting
Best!!!
woffyboy46 dive through their duo live sets here on CZcams Soo good spirits they’ve vanished is on here live
Mukimukimanmansu have done some pretty Avant Garde stuff. Like when they destroyed their drum on stage, and handed it out during the last song like candy.
I get they are professionals and they have been doing this for a long time now, but I can't believe how clean they sound live. All these screams and imitating the sampling sound effects. Insane.
Yeah, I love this record, but let’s face it--these songs are really simplistic & they aren’t exactly crack musicians. The recorded versions are way better.
Really simplistic? Not sure i agree with you there. Lots of complicated rhythms and all
@@alexv3266 L ratio yb better
@@kennypyne7821 couldn't have said it better myself
@@Cian097 2 years late, but the album is supposed to be what AnCo are at a bare minimum at the time. It started as David and Noah goofing around by themselves in Colorado.
I think the reason this gets us is because we mostly listen to this album alone. We might have a AC fan friend or two, but to see that this thing that is so personal could be loved by so many people in one space is... effective?
I just think we see the album as a concert for one, and to know that others out there feel the same ties us together. I mean, the audience is literally singing Good Lovin Outside, which is an underrated banger.
I agree!! I hope these people know how lucky they are to have seen this live
this is a beautiful comment and makes me feel so understood
I have exactly one friend who is a fan of AC. :)
I was there and man, good loving outside had me in tears. I loved this tour
The Music is communication between living blood pumping creatures. The patterns arent random
winters love is actually the most perfect song ever devised
One of the best love song of all time
@@VaginaRecords its abt beating off
For real, one of the best harmonies ever
I was moved to tears when certain audience members knew when to clap during "Mouth Wooed Her." I find that kind of union and love so meaningful.
Do you know where this part is, I can't seem to find it .p.
Nevermind, found it in the description
me and a girl next to me were like a few of the only people doing that during the chicsgo show :) it was so cute
also during who could win a rabbit, most of these people have every note of the album burned deep inside their soul and it shows
best part of the song
The guy in the crowd absolutely killing that random clap in sweet road at 31:58
I always imagine what the security guy working the front of the show thinks about what he's seeing and hearing.
When we were kids animal collective essentially acted as our shaman guide with these records. I don’t think we had any understanding of what that meant yet, but I’m grateful.
good acid tunes indeed
Dumb
we all need a guide...
This is an excellent concert film. Wonderful cinematography and audio mixing, the audience is loud enough to make the recordings actually feel live but quiet enough so that you can actually fucking hear the music (which is important, live recordings often feel really empty without the studio flair and the audience can really fill that out). I really have to commend Pitchfork for this, it's very well done. Of course, it wouldn't be anything without the excellent performance from Avey and Panda.
Blunder agreed. Very well said
For real! 🙌🏼
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Do you know where America is mentioned in the Bible ???????
This show better stay on CZcams forever. It’s so beautiful. Nothing like seeing these guys live, together or solo..
imagine if Avey and Panda did Spirit They're Gone all the way through
Man I'd shed tears during Alvin Row
Alvin Row is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
now im saddened by actively not having this to watch thank you
dont play with my heart like this.
i will go through my life with a void where this could have been until further notice. i hope you're happy, friend.
They performed Covered In Frogs for the first time in like 13 years and that’s all that matters
the BEST version of it too, polished absurdity, their voices are so much better than when they did it 13 years ago
I welled up a little bit when Avey started singing!
showed this to a friend and he was like "wtf is this sounds horrible" but it sounds like heaven for me :D
i was at this show. everybody knew the songs. amazing experience
One of the best unplugged performances by any band
sung tongs always gives me the feeling you get when you go camping or been out in nature for awhile, even for a couple hours. it's so down to earth and fun.
this is seriously one of the best things i've ever witnessed
you where there? you lucky bast---
It's already amazing what these guys can do with electronics, but this is a reminder what they can also do with with just 2 acoustic guitars and vocals and a little sampler.
They should tour Feels in its entirety with deakin and geologist
Chris Beal they would destroy 👍👍👍
Dude, YES. 🙌
that would be sick but i think they said in an interview how hard it is to play some of those songs because the original samples don't exist anymore
YES
they need Kria Brekkan as well
i wonder how it must feel to write an album like sung tongs and a decade later have the audience sing it right along with you
Okay I have to comment again just to say how precious it is that Noah is wearing an Animal Collective hoodie. Also, didn't know he breathed into the mic like that on Kids on Holiday. I love that.
this is like seeing John Lennon and Paul McCartney sit down and play Revolver straight through
Planet Earth of live music
Wish I could share this comment w/ everyone ever, cuz the shits true, oml.
No, Animal Collective is different..
expect they couldn't even do that because of the George and Ringo songs. Revolver is also overrated as fuck.
the beatles wish they were ever on this level
I really felt it when people started screaming instantly after the first note of prospect hummer. What a loving fanbase
The crowd jumping towards the end of winters love is just so heartwarming to watch. One of the many wholesome AnCo family moments.
I wish I found this album sooner. Sung Tongs is such a masterpiece
just really starting to explore AnCo and loving every minute of it. never realized how virtuosic these dudes are. they’re SERIOUSLY technically talented and wildly creative and it’s amazing to behold.
the first time i see the crowd clapping actually serves the music, good job crowd!
I'm seriously amazed that the crowd so perfectly clapped along to Sweet Road, what with the changing time signatures.
Tomáš Klézl good job LSD :d
LSD helps a whooooole lot lol
god bless you thank you for recording this historic diamond of a show for all us anco fans who couldn't be there
Ricky V. I reacted to some songs like I really was there haha, what a gem
They are touring with this right now.
20:40 - when you're both insane but vibing. Also I feel like, they both have such great voices respectively, Noah's tone is unmatched but david's versatility is mental. Noah was really straining his voice here and you could tell by him taking it easy for a bit after this. But Avey has this technique down where he can scream his head off and then still sing full-bodied, unstrained notes right after and I'm still baffled and awed as to how he does that.
He was definitely straining it, but I also think the idea of that was to replicate the sound of frogs, at least to me
I feel so lucky to be alive right now
Did you make that profile pic? I made the same concept in photography class in highschool i edited a cat onto the album hah
We in the store right here.
the crowd is so good I’d kill to have seen this live 😭
4:37 Panda Bear sounds like he's about to drop the hottest mumble rap mixtape of 2003
Lmao ily
ay.. ay.. ay.. yuh
ay
animal collective yuh
ay
ay
Wow they killed that version of who could win a rabbit, amazing
I'm your bread and butter hustle
I agree this one is excellent but my favorite version is this one if you haven't heard it it's incredible czcams.com/video/HWlHtiF0IN0/video.html
WHERE'S YOUR RELAXATION
This album sounds the way psilocybin feels
Exactly. Exactly. This album is like the perfect representation of what a good, warm, natural trip on shrooms feels like. It's so accurate. Strange, infantile, curious, intimate, warm, beautiful... human.
Now get Vashti Bunyan and Deakin and do prospect hummer EP in its entirety
wow so true
I think vashti has retired for good
Just heard Prospect Hummer today. Dammit, what I've been missing these past few years...
Oziel Esparza :( she’s still the queen of freak folk
@@oclictis1 I don't about new albums but she is touring. I saw her perform a few months ago and it was amazing
1. this is legendary.
2. best idea of theirs to tour this album since the creation MPP
3. I saw this tour live and so happy i went
Wait. They toured with this??
@@flyingavacado7422 yep in 2018. i became a fan in 2019, just missed it. :(
This was one of the best tours ever
I would've cried on the spot, had I actually been there.
Same here!!
Winkyshowpee I’m crying watching it
Jacob Whitefield same. This Softest Voice is making me poke myself with my sprite straw.. it’s sprite running down my eyes 👀
Would’ve cried so hard during visiting friends
Today its the firs time i listen and watch Animal Collective... I just had an epiphany and a religious moment, a trance.... and cried a lot...
Welcome to the team
i still cannot get over how amazing this performance is
Goddam they gave it everything they had. That's what I will always love about this band.
If it's the whole quartet, the usual trio, or these two, they always make amazing music.
I do a stupid smile every time Avey says "Sung Tongs huh?"
It could be said that a lot of this reminded me of my acid trips. Most specifically visiting friends, though. The way Avey speaks into the mic with the pedals (or whatever devices help distort his voice) reminded me of how strange and fragmented my inner monologues sounded. As well in a particularly strange way it sounds similar to the way it felt for me to actually speak. It was weird. It felt like sentences were being sucked out of me as well as information surfacing from the subconscious level at ridiculous rates. Hard to adequately describe, I suppose.
It's also really interesting to see the way Avey moves to evoke the sound and emotion he does. It's as if he's possessed by the music and the act of artistic creation.
Kevin Stevenson this is much closer to a true psychedelic headspace then a lot of psychedelic music for me. Psychedelic rock seems like it’s made to be enjoyed while you’re tripping but this album is like a perfect sonic depiction of how psychs feel and how they can be beautiful and emotional while also being super fucking bizarre
My cousin was on luc during this show he was there
Beautifully written. I got the same thing as you, this is the closest to these inner sounds I've got that I've heard of
This performance of Visiting Friends is incredible, love how they interpolated Queen in My Pictures into it. One of my fav shows of theirs all around on CZcams
executed it so well. pure talent
I wonder if leaf house is the first track on the album in part because of what a great vocal warm up it is to sing
Beautiful, I never thought they would play Visiting Friends again, this live version sounds amazing, the lyrics can be heard clearer than in the lp.
Happy 20th Anniversary Sung Tongs!!!
The fans going "HIYA!!" in Sweet Road just gives my whole life meaning
JACKIE SPOTTED
@@lifesoldier Hi love u
I love how they did impressions of some of the samples, but I wish they did the "I started playing the game and like...the game-" before Mouth Wooed Her
They didn't do it maybe because it's Deakin's line?
Hearing the crowd sing along to Who Could Win a Rabbit actually gave me chills
The audience was amazing in this.
*annoying
Annoying how?
If anything, it improved the performance, making sounds that Avey Tare and Panda Bear couldn't make such as the clapping on Sweet Road and Mouth Wooed Her.
loving your profile picture
listen to Animal Collective
thanks for the advice
One step ahead of you, bro
start some type of salsa company
Ok
who ?
I watched a lot of people falling to the ground when they played this show in Santiago, Chile. Best concert ever. Thank You for such amazing music guys.
I have an hour-long eargasm every time I listen to this. Kids On Holiday makes me writhe around in ecstatic joy.
When pitchfork takes the adds out of this video I will throw the craziest party this reality has seen
ad blocker is da best
Actual perfection, after this and Avey's newer record this gives me hope that they'll get back into the freak folk shit again
Dude Eucalyptus is gold. It might honestly be my favorite out of all the Animal Collective + Solo projects.
Mikeureko it’s gorgeous
This entire video is literally a dream come true.
Greatest band of this century
YOU DONT HAVE TO GO TO COLLEGE
///// also love that the audience becomes the samples. beyond legendary.
So definitive. So glad the boys did this for us. I'm crying.
this is like the hardest thing to stop watching ! awesome
This is my favorite performance ever. Cant describe how much happiness this brings me, I hope when day when im old and gray I
will remember this video and think of all the memories along with this album and beautiful band. Nothing is like AC
now id like to see them play danse manatee live again
I don't think I've ever heard a crowd this explicitly affectionate before
whoa...never knew this existed but I am so glad it did. i'll never forget the feeling of being given 'feels' and 'sung tongs' during the waning days of high school. daphne, thank you for changing my perspective and putting one of my favorite musicians into my world when you did. this is such an epic video that hits all the feels. just kicking myself i kinda fell off following the bands tour dates around 2015. once this pandemic is a wrap and live music is go, i am so there for the magic.
I'm so happy they slipped covered in frogs into the mix!
It rubs my wet body
I get so excited that I almost can't handle "Sweet Road"; it's fantastic!!!
The ads on this platform are disgraceful. I can't enjoy a single song without someone selling a shoe.
So many nice touches- like how on Who Could Win a Rabbit, they are playing the same chords, but Panda is just barring in an open tuning while Avey is actually doing proper chord patterns...
I love that they played Covered in Frogs and freaking killed it!
arg the ads are really tough on this one...
Jesus the fucking memories with this album. these dudes and radiohead are the only thing i listened to from 13-20
Two absolute legends..
This has been my highlight of 2018 so far. Got dam. Thank you animal collective and pitchfork.
Happy new year everyone, perfect fall/winter tunes right here
Not all hero’s wear capes
Maurqui nmnleeieieo
Dude this is such a beautiful gift to AC fans everywhere. Merci Beaucoup !
absolutely love that i got to watch this video. TY pfork. This was my fave album like 10+ years ago, and im having the best time watching this. Visiting Friends is my #1 acid song. Imagine how insane it must have been before they recorded it - im picturing a 30 minute Visiting Friends jam. SO glad they didn't skimp out here and make it 5 minutes or something like that
Thank you guys, this is the perfect setlist
I’ve listened to this about 2000 times now
*David Firth* commented this video and it's the best thing that has happened to me today.
ApexCactus watchu know bout David Firth .... and watchu know bout Animal Collective!! lol jk jk great minds n all lat
Who?
I’ve never been able to see them live, I’ve loved them since I first heard the spirit record. They’re so incredibly talented and legitimately revolutionized modern music again and again. This performance was incredibly touching, I started to cry half way through, partly in jealousy and entirely in a euphoric beautiful sense. I felt like I was floating.
Wow what a gift this video is. I seriously could not ask for more. Awesome
so excited they are touring this. very thankful i could grab tickets to the austin show in presale.
Congrats pitchfork I bet you were excited to see your favorite band play. Lol
Melodious and psychedelic.
I wanted to sing with them 🎵
(From Japan )
listen to feels and their other albums if you haven't
Adrian Nickpour I’ve listened to albums. I like them! Thank you!
I do to!
I can remember when they came to Seattle to play this material originally. there were like 20 people there, and most of the folks were there to see other bands. I was pretty impressed, tho, fr sure.>
04, saw them perform at the warehouse next door. Amazing. It was def. something special that I and others were able to witness.
watched this whole set in the livestream. start to finish. loved it. love my boys. Anco will probably always be my fav band
Same
Yup...forever
just started to listening to them a few weeks ago and hearing the crowd in leaf house gave me chills
Amazing crowd. I'd love to see an in doors AnCo concert with loads of fans going nuts over such weird music
one of the best concerts I've ever seen
Gosh damnit I was thereeeee jivin out in Queens. One of the best shows of my life
These guys are on a whole other plane of experience with their music. Unreal!!
This album/performance/duo is like a modern psychedelic Simon and Garfunkel and its amazing.
Many tears of excitement were shed while watching this video
Pitchfork/Animal Collective: Please release this as an album. I cannot stop listening to it.
So beautiful that the crowd participated in the clapping for Mouth Wooed Her.
