@@chrissie9865 nah, not really. They played the one where it's basically just two of them on acoustic guitars. Out of all their albums, I imagine that was the one that was the easiest to recreate in a live setting (I.e. without samples that they've lost, or without a subtly microtonally detuned piano that they all have to tune their instruments to)
When I listen to animal collective I literally can’t tell the difference between when Avey Tare is singing and when Panda bear is singing, they both sound so similar
@@Lucid_Memory I’ve come around lol. I made that comment around when I first started listening to anco, and I legitimately did have a hard time differentiating their voices before I knew who was who. I definitely don’t have that issue anymore tho
It's mainly just Brian and Noah who sound alike, but I guess they all still have some similar characteristics in their talking. I've noticed the same thing with Vampire Weekend as well.
I think everyone that joked around or said anything negative knows why they did.... obviously they aren't open to themselves as such creative artists such as these three and their other collaborative artists....perhaps one wouldn't watch a video if they weren't so interested... ?
maybe its just something your not intrested, i mean for people who had been sad since their child hood will definately understand animal collective especially davids stuff
Wait so Dave was married in 2013? To Deradoorian? I knew about Kria and him, and knew he had a thing with Deradoorian, but didn't know he got married since Kria.
they all sound exactly the same
they act the same too
holy shit soo true
Tsuta they are an animal collective
It's so strange how monotone they are when they talk compared to when Avey is screaming and Panda is harmonizing.
They've tripped together so much they share the same ego
I love how he had to ask Noah directly who he wanted to see because Noah was just going to be quiet.
They're the friends I wish I had in high school
Geologist: "who would wanna see it?"
ME, I WOULD WANT TO SEE IT.
0:37 kinda funny how they ended up playing sung tongs in its entirety for pitchforks 21st birthday
Dan Faitz But like what Geologist said, they'd probably rework the songs for it, which they did somewhat.
Exactly what I was going to say
@@skyborax5159 me 2 lol
i just watched that live set before i watched this interview :P

Oh boy, Animal Collective being interviewed by a Pitchfork dad.
You will be a pitchfork dad someday.
@@Flux799 he's 6 years closer now
of course, one of them is wearing flip flops
why does that make sense
I feel like you could switch all their voices around and nothing would seem different.
Haha true.
When I listen to animal collective I literally can’t tell the difference between when Avey Tare is singing and when Panda bear is singing, they both sound so similar
They all do the same drugs ig lol
@@sorrowfulsatchel679 Seriously? I feel like their singing voices are very distinct.

It took 9 years but they played an album in full lol
Hunter Funk seeing them in ATL in 2 weeks. Cant wait
Panda Bear said an average of 0.8 words a minute
xD
It would be easy being in a band with guys this laid back. Seems like they'd jive well in practice and in the songwriting process.
0:40 I JUST saw them play Sung Tongs, LIVE, at fucking Pitchfork, 10 seconds ago! xD
Anything can happen...
It's mainly just Brian and Noah who sound alike, but I guess they all still have some similar characteristics in their talking. I've noticed the same thing with Vampire Weekend as well.
Noah's face at the end knowing it was over.
No, the joke is that they shot the intro and outro before the interview.
noah seems so anxious
They're the one group of musicians I'd love to hug they're adorable
hahaha, that fleet foxes joke at the end was good
They're not called Animal Individual for a reason...
The Fleet Foxes backdrop makes this interview that much more cozy 🤗🏔🦊
i love them theyre so adorable
0:42 and they just played the entirety of Sung Tongs at Pitchfork's 21st Anniversary
This was while they were working on Merriweather so Deak was taking a break at the time.
"It's crazy, they're playing the same song that they were at the beginning of the video." So good! Haha
listen to the album Feels.
These guys know music.
The year was 2008, so they were working on Merriweather, which Deakin didn't work on
well they did sung tongs in whole so thats rad
They didn't
@@purplelizard2348 yes they did
@@AYAYAYAYAYAYA921 nope
PurpleLizard 23 but I saw it live lol
@@AYAYAYAYAYAYA921 doubt.
Good interview. Would love to see more stuff like this from the CHz era with Deakin present.
Mark is my fave writer!!!
I'd rather see them interviewed after a set, not before it
Im gonna see them FOR THE FIRST TIME in Mexico City in two months..!!!
Love love love them all🌠🌠🌠🌠🔮✨💫💫💫
I think what they do is pretty fucking amazing.
they all look like they really really don't want to be there
No one likes interviews
I love Mark.
They sound so young. :3
LOVE ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, LOVE THE FLEET FOXES PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND! Fuck the interview, should've been watching '08 Fleet Foxes!
"I live in Lisbon, Portugal"
Mas não há meio de darem cá um concerto :(
Oh wow, I'm the 5th upvote. That is nuts! Winters Love and Purple Bottle make me trip sober.
I can see why JPEGMAFIA pointed out Pitchfork bands like AC all talked like the same person. lmao
Hahahah when did Peggy say this?
It’s fun hearing fleet foxes in the background starting at about 5:30
I LOVE YOU
Noah I was inspired by you sampling a race car.
What is up with Panda?
Good Musique He met the Grim Reaper
Lol they played Sung Tongs a few weeks ago
Here 8 years later
oh i love you
god yes
hey austin. Funny I should find you here on this fine day. Yours truly- Trilly Idol
yeah i've seen this interview before I'm pretty sure its a repost but I dont know why
kinda funny that this interview is not very long after the interviewer gave avey's album pullhair rubeye a 1-star review on pitchfork, lol...
I think everyone that joked around or said anything negative knows why they did.... obviously they aren't open to themselves as such creative artists such as these three and their other collaborative artists....perhaps one wouldn't watch a video if they weren't so interested... ?
#wheresdeakin
This was during the strawberry jam MPP time period Deakin was absent for mpp
maybe its just something your not intrested, i mean for people who had been sad since their child hood will definately understand animal collective especially davids stuff
I'm sorry to hear that. You're missing out on something beautiful
Wait so Dave was married in 2013? To Deradoorian? I knew about Kria and him, and knew he had a thing with Deradoorian, but didn't know he got married since Kria.
Matthew well this interview was from 2008 so maybe he's talking about Kria?
Oh right, I'm dumb.
At 7:40, when Panda Bear interrupts Avey and says "He built it", totally freaks me out. They have the same voice.
You mean the geologist
Are they talking about tangerine reef?
oh you got it
look who we have here...
4:01 hey
all 3 of them talk funny.
Dat restless leg on panda bear.
this was from 5 years ago but it was posted may 16th wat. I am so confused.
I don't meant to be cynical, but this is obviously shot by someone who didn't go to film school.
david has the most beutifull eyes
david is my favorite grandson
they obviously need more speed.
well, its only Panda and he woulda be on antidepressants around this time so
they're all pretty much married and with kids
It's a collective. :)
id on daveys t shirt
god maybe
i thought that hat was blue....
where is deakin? he was probably out back giving some girl the deak.
no ones gonna mention fleet foxes playing in the background?
i’m trying to figure out the song at 7:40!
@@andyz9793 i think its "he doesnt know why"
"Do you ever see Animal Collective playing a whole album live?"
"No"
That didn't age well.
WHY DO THEY ALL SPEAK LIKE THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON
SHOO CASON
Goddess
This interview was made in 2008. So deakin wasn't with the band at the time
they are brothers?
i wonder why they are all shaking so much and fidgeting, they are most diffidently not on drugs anyway.
Bola de chalados!
yes. 🗿
well its not working cause two of them got married..
where’s the deak
HAHAHAHA Mark Richardson AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
They’re all so stoned
avey is divorced now
I GAVE YOU THAT NAME AND I CAN TAKE IT AWAY
god no
And then MPP happened.
they sound like they’ve tried every drug on the planet
Noah is super stoned.
