It was so much fun and after the meet-up (see my first video about the benefit sale if you missed it) my wife came home with renewed motivation to take more pictures and sew more things for the dolls. Meanwhile, I'm capitalizing on the momentum I have to work on the basement space so I can display our new goodies ;-)

@agtakesover Yes. When I realized we both had the same dress. She hasn't been changed out of her meet outfit. Would be nice if AG got her more outfits.

It's amazing how many fantastic items you got for the money spent! That chicken dress for Claudie is ADORABLE. I missed that one. I'll have to keep an eye on SewandSoar's Etsy shop to see if I can get one of her dresses (I don't have high hopes for what AG is going to design for Claudie). I'm not into AG pets either, but I always wanted Mele for some reason and I was able to pick up the older version of her with the embroidered eyes! I laughed when you mentioned not opening boxes because they had only said not to open SEALED boxes--and I opened DOZENS of doll boxes checking for permapanties and making sure the dolls looked good! 😊 I was surprised to see the newest TMs there too. I was looking for a good 115 (and I looked through every single one) and the one with the best face that I ended up getting wasn't just simply returned. She had been to the salon and got her hair styled, ears pierced, and nail polish put on! After all that and some kid didn't want her! It's their loss because she's perfect. 🥰
Wow (about your 115)!! I was thinking about our 116 and her banged up box and wondering if she was not, in fact, a return. Maybe her box was damaged at the warehouse and they just set her aside. Either way, we lucked out as a result, right?!
@@agtakesover Yeah, we lucked out for sure, and I think a lot of items were there simply because the boxes were damaged, especially newer items that were in short supply.

Thank you 🤗We bought some scrapbook paper and peel-and-stick flooring and I worked on one of the rooms in the basement dollhouse but ran out of double sided tape. "Construction halted due to shortage of building materials" lol. You said you have never had a new doll. How many dolls do you have and if you got a new one, which would you pick?
@@agtakesover I have four older dolls and they were older when I bought them. All had undisclosed issues which made them a little disappointing. I'm saving for a new doll. The current leaders are Evette or 118 (who I would name Beth). There are so many beautiful faces, it makes choosing hard.
I hate undisclosed issues. For real, though. I try to give ppl the benefit of the doubt and acknowledge that not everyone scrutinizes things like I do or has the same expectations. But sometimes it's clearly an intentional omission and that sucks. Great choices with Evette and 118. Between the two, I would go with Evette. I like her a little better (I definitely like her lashes better) but also she might be more likely to retire first. Either way, I hope your very first new doll is gorgeous!!
@@agtakesover Thank you for asking! I don't have any "doll friends" and being older, people sometimes think it's weird. This community us truly great in that way. I love to sew and learn about different styles through the ages. Doll sized clothes are much less expensive to make, and they can be going to any event or occasion I dream up. As for used dolls, I didn't know much when I bought them so I didn't ask about things like dry hair and loose limbs. It will just be exciting to get a new doll with soft hair, tight limbs, and no odd smells. Thanks for all the doll advice!
I hate that people can be judgy about our dolls. It seems such an absolute waste of time and energy to judge people for something that hurts no one. Their loss - I hope you share when you buy your first new doll :-)

Thanks so much - doing this channel has been really rewarding. With a toddler and with both my wife and I working from home, I very (very) rarely have alone time and working on my videos is the way I chose to carve out some time that is just for me. So on top of enjoying the dolls, my channel gives me some "me time" :-)
I loved this video SO MUCH.. seriously, the detail you go into is fantastic. I loved getting to see how much everything was, too. You and Grace ended up with such a fun haul. I truly hope that another venue hosts this sale in the future. If anything, I would want to go just to meet everyone in person. I've finally found my people and they are all scattered across the US, and even the globe.
Oh.. and as someone who recently finished their basement, it was a HUGE undertaking (and pricey) but it was so, so worth it. And of course, the dolls have taken over..🤣
What state are you in? I think if they don't replace it with something similar, we might see an increase in smaller, more informal meetups with agigers and agtubers.
As for the basement, we're not finishing it. We're keep going back and forth about whether or not finishing it should be a priority but in the meantime, I'm ready to enjoy it more. So I'm focusing on very cheap modifications I can do. That way I won't kick myself for "wasting money" if we end up properly finishing it down the line.
@@agtakesover I'm all the way in Nebraska! There doesn't seem to be many of us here, but I could probably attend a Chicago store meetup. And yes.. finishing our basement was super expensive so that part wasn't fun. We had initially thought about using curtain rods to hang up curtains along the concrete walls. At our last house, the previous owners had put down some foam flooring tiles which did a lot to add usability to the space. Best of luck with all of the project ahead of you! I'm sure you will be able to accomplish a lot without having to formally finish it.
You guys got some good stuff and I am now wishing that I would have asked someone to pick me up a doll from there because I had friends going

Right?! It also ended up being the first road trip we've been on in years without a little one, so we were able to pack lighter than we have in years lol.

Hi Kristie, so nice to see all the great things you got. How nice that you were able to get a doll for another collector in our community. Claudie is so darned cute and I recently purchased her myself. She went on sale a week after I got her so I reached out to our Indigo Chapters store in Canada and they will adjust what I paid to the sale price. I was so happy. Now I can buy more Claudie accessories💕
That's great that they were willing to adjust the price retroactively! And Claudie's supposed to have new items added to her collection at the end of the month :-)

Did the sale have mystery bundles this year? I sold my mystery doll from last year. I would get a duplicate!
No mystery bundles this time around. I was on the fence about getting another one (we ended up selling almost everything from ours because it was either duplicates or stuff we didn't want) but MCM helped make the decision easy lol.
@@agtakesover I got mostly duplicates in mine, too. Retired Kirsten stuff was neat, but I had it all already. I even ended up with two Mini Josefinas so I gifted one of them. I kept the mini doll tote and gold boots, selling or gifting everything else. So much for the mystery bundle! Not sure why I got it. I’m just glad I thought to buy another doll as well.

Yep. Someone did a breakdown and said for Berry members 4x points is the better deal but that for Silver members 20% off is best. That's more math than I care to do, but either way it's nice to have the promos!

Thank you so much for sharing this video! It's so fantastic, I needed to watch it twice before I felt like I could comment. It is so cool to see all the things you were able to purchase, as well as some of the thought processes behind it (such as "this will be a day two purchase if they still have it because it isn't a priority", that sort of thing). I'm really surprised at how many CURRENT things they had, the things you can buy in-store. I hear you about the Dia de Muertos outfit - the dress looks gorgeous, but I'm underwhelmed by the mask. I'm going to get it at some point, but... oof, that price means it's lower priority for me, unfortunately. Laughing about the double on the music outfit (another one that I keep looking at in the store and then keep passing over for other things). So cute that your oldest loves the tiny things like school supplies and the asthma set! I remember you mentioned that in your huge haul, when you came across Kirsten's school supplies. Good to know that it isn't just the school supplies, lol. I love that you bought some things for your youngest to give as gifts in the future. So curious to see how your hotel and AG salon table all come together. Love that Grace got the catalog from her childhood!!! There's a part of me that wants to save up to buy one from when I was a kid, but ugh, they cost so much when I could just... buy doll stuff... so I keep putting it off. Looking forward to your customizations, especially with how you're going to play with Claudie. I've been in awe of some of the customized Claudie's out there, especially the ones with locs. She's so beautiful to begin with, it'll be fun to see the new wigs you give her! Also so excited to see your Elphaba. And so happy you got your friend a 31! I'm STUNNED that they had a 31. That was so kind of you. The vendor outfits are adorable and amazing. Love that you got Claudie some more outfits, and that so many vendors were showing Claudie the love that AG keeps denying her. That chicken dress is ADORBS. What is with adorable hens and chickens on things these days? I don't know why fabrics like that keep being made, but it's so cute and I love it and I hope the trend keeps going. And finally, thank you for being so honest and up-front about your money and what was spent. I know people think it can be an awkward thing, but I think it can really help people work through some of the "gotta get it all now" mentality that can lead to really bad debt before they know it. I wish we could all be more transparent so that we can help members of our community who may be more at-risk for impulsive, compulsive spending to see how to shop wisely. Not saying it would solve problems, but would likely help people - I know it helps me pause and think back through decisions before I make them!
Kirsten, you always have the most thoughtful comments. It makes me smile to think of you watching the whole video not just once, but twice! I removed Claudie's wig last night (gotta think of a name for her since we already have our "real" Claudie) and it came off without a hitch. I saw some rumours that Claudie was officially getting stuff this month - looks like the end, maybe, since it's theoretically being debuted at the Brit Bennett event first? Either way, VERY EXCITED. I suspect I'll have already used my July rewards certificates before her new stuff comes out, but I'll be planning on using my August budget to have a Claudie splurge! Hopefully there will be enough stuff to actually call it a splurge... fingers crossed.

Me too!! I feel like it took so long for me to start that project and now I'm capitalizing on the momentum and it's coming along pretty quickly actually. Still a long way to go, but it already looks really good. My wife and older daughter both bought me flooring materials for the new shelves I'm using to make rooms - a perfect birthday present!

I love the salon backdrop for a $1 and ALL of those hair items from the vendor for $1. Tenney's t-shirt and the bathing suit for your daughter were crazy good deals! 90 as Elphaba is going to be wonderful. :) That is crazy that 122 and 116 were both there. You're absolutely right about Evelyn Rose's blonde MG. She is gorgeous! That is so cool that you got a 31 without permapanties for your viewer. The one Emma got has permapanties. And that dress with the little chicks on it is precious for Kit or Claudie or whoever. So cute. Loved all of the totals at the end and I wouldn't be surprised if your total ends up being $0 after you sell everything. Did you mention selling the #90 wig too? I'm not remembering now. I haven't watched Emma's haul video yet (just her vlog, but the haul one is in my "watch later" queue). I personally don't mind the perma-panties that much. I'm glad they're short-lived, but if I like a doll, perma-panties won't deter me. I knew you would appreciate the money breakdown. Actually, a LOT of people appreciated it. I think many of us crave more transparency around money. And while I don't think our total will go down to zero (we don't have that much to sell from what we got) it's DEFINITELY an amazing deal. btw, we're going to keep the TM90 wig. I imagine we won't use it a ton and we definitely won't glue it down on anyone, but it'll be fun to use occasionally.

I wish I'd known they were going to run out of Claudie dolls (and that you wanted one) when we were in on Saturday morning - I would have gladly picked one up for you. I'm just finishing up watching your vlog - funny how many of the same observations we had (re: resellers, AC, the volunteers, and the supermoms who did the sale with kids in tow).
I think it's helpful to be transparent about what we spent. It's important to learn how to get the most bang for your buck, plan and budget, live within your means, etc. If I don't explain about the $ then people could assume we're independently wealthy. Or racking up credit card debt. Or who knows what else lol.
I'm so glad we got to meet in person but still wish we'd been able to hang out more. If you're ever want to come visit the Columbus store, we've got a spare room :-)
Fantastic benefit sale haul! I've never been, but love experiencing it virtually with everyone that went and shared. I thoroughly enjoyed the budgeting part as well. Always helps to see a full financial picture. Congrats on the great deals! Looking forward to the basement doll space reveal.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yeah… I think it is helpful for people to see the financial breakdown. It can really seem like everybody has endless disposable income when that's not the case. Sometimes people are living beyond their means to buy doll things, which is not healthy, and sometimes they're super strategic to get more bang for their buck ;-)

We got Courtney's beanbag right at 8:30 but I don't know how long they lasted. Did you get some other goodies you're excited about?

Yep! We might seem like we're shopping with abandon but we definitely have a plan and my plan doesn't involve going broke or spending money I don't have lol.
Very impressive haul! I’m excited to see Claudie and Corinne try on some new wigs. Do you feel like the early entry tickets were worth the price?
I did! If I lived really close and it was just going to be a day trip, I might go for the cheaper tickets and call it good. But since we were already investing in the road trip, it made sense to spend a bit more and be guaranteed a spot within that first hour. Otherwise, you might not get in until much later in the afternoon when it was fairly thoroughly picked over.
@@agtakesoverwhen they first announced the price for early entry I thought it seemed REALLY steep, but honestly with the prices at the sale it’s not hard to make that back and more in savings, like, buy two dolls and you’ve already covered the ticket. I’m glad it worked out for you!
That's how I felt, too. It WAS steep. But we chose to view the whole thing as a vacation and we figured the price was for the experience (especially since this was our ONLY in-person MCM Benefit Sale). And then with everything we got and realizing how many things were gone by mid morning, it was definitely worth it.

I'm so glad you liked the video. We participated in the online sale last year and that was a LOT of fun, but the meet-up made it worth going in person.
That's such a great haul! I really wish I got to go to the sale, but unfortunately, I'm too far away. But I have found some great deals lately. I found almost all of Lea's outfits nib for $16 each, except her pjs which were $14! I really do hope that ag continues to do things like this even if it won't be with MCM anymore because it really does go to a great cause

Thank you for sharing so much of your experience and the costs. I’ve seen these haul photos and videos for years and it always looks like people have spent 1000’s of dollars. Even without your gift cards and “found” cash, the total was very reasonable.
After your busy last few weeks, I’ll bet it was nice to have some alone adult time as well , even in a hot car! That’s the true test of a relationship!
It was lovely to have some alone adult time. It's definitely a rarity. And yeah, that's kind of why I wanted to give a detailed breakdown of what we spent. It's very easy for people to make assumptions one way or the other about how people with large collections afford them. I'm happy to just be transparent and answer any questions ppl have :-)
