- Clean installation showing sub dash modification needed to fit a double size stereo in the Ford pickup. Helpful hints for powering the camera without tapping into tail light in case your head unit allows the camera to be viewed while parked or driving forward.
Thanks for the video. I have to say the. most important part for me is around 9:17 where you show where the back up light power wire is. This is used for the back up camera function. What a time saver! Just this little tip alone saved me hours of research! Thanks again!
i failed installing a similar head unit and license plate backup camera. this is encouraging and will manage to attempt again to see if I can get it work.
Awesome! Thanks! Exactly was I was looking for!
This was great bro thank you im 15 just tryna learn this thank you again💯
Great video - thanks for the effort to do
It turns out my 7-pin hitch doesn't have power. It was easy enough to route over to the left tail light assembly and grab the power there. Now I hear that there may be a missing relay for the trailer power. Off to go check! Great video!
Nicely done sir 🤙
Good information. Thanks. One note. You can run the bluetooth mike wire down the A pillar and you never see it . The mike clips to the trim on the A pillar very nicely.
Mruofacat Nice tip!
That was a great video
Great job THANKS
Thank you!
Thank you Bro!!
How did you route the wire from the rear view camera to the head unit?
Not everyone has an aftermarket 8 pin accessory. I was looking for wiring for the taillight harness under the bump[er
You don't want the backup camera powered all the time. You can connect the power and ground for the camera to your reverse light. Then attach the RCA input and the trigger wire to the radio.
This head unit allows the camera view to be displayed with the touch of a button, while parked or driving forward in addition to automatically displaying the view when triggered by reverse. That's why I wired the camera to have power anytime the key is on. I agree that if your head unit only shows the camera when triggered in reverse, it makes sense to pull power from the reverse light circuit.
Thats the way to do it!
What was the faceplate installation kit? Was it Metra and part no?
Okay so where you hooked up the power wire to the trailer harness if you would have just spliced into the middle wire which is the black-and-white grain that is your actual reverse wire for your trailer light harness
How did you get the RCA video cable from the camera into the cab? I'm using a wireless setup on my 2003 but I want to change to a wired camera for better reliability but not sure where I can get the wire into the cab.
There’s a 2 inch hole with a rubber grommet in the floor panel under the pedals. Mentioned at about 10:10 in the video. Good luck!
@@toddslusser8380 Thank you very much! Ironically, that was about the only section I didn't fully watch as I swapped the stereo out a long time ago. Really appreciate it!
My stereo has 3 color wires the factory doesn't have a brown , blue , and pink one should i leave those out?
How do you hook up a review camera on a 1989 Chevy s10
And how you connected Apple Car Play?
How much would you charge me to do mine?
What the red light under your steering wheel? Asking because I have the same thing and idk what it is.
It's part of an aftermarket alarm/security system installed by a previous owner. I searched online years ago to figure out how to turn it off but can't remember how I did it.
Is their a wire you can ground out to watch dvds when driving ?
Yes, but of course that would be illegal
Where did you get the bezel that you screwed in front of the head unit? I have a different version that is a 6.2in unit
I got it online from a company called Metra
Any tips on the best way or how to safely run the av wire from the cab to the tailgate?
Not really. I wasn’t very happy with how that part turned out, although it hasn’t given me any trouble. I just zip tied to the frame as often as I could to keep the wires from dangling and getting caught when I am off road. Maybe someone else can share a photo or video of how they routed the wires?
On my f250 I was able to run a/v wire thru the emergency brake cable hole in the floor of the cab,( it's a tight fit) run wire down the inside of the frame rail to rear tail light. Remove the tail light and make connections behind the light so they stay dry. Hope that helps you out.
You didn’t show hooking up the stereo
all videos I've seen on this topic cut out the part I need, which is wiring from back to stereo..
Just buy yourself an adapter cable. Mine cost me about $8. Then attach that to the harness that came with your stereo. Just match up the colors of each wire. Then all you do is plug one end in the connector that your old stereo plugged into in the truck and the other end to the new stereo. You will have to run a separate wire from the back up light power (9:17 in the video) to the stereo. Pretty easy.
@@ArVeeNiner Ive been looking but cant find one that I'm certain would work. Would you be able to help me find one?
Did you have to trim the dash surround at all?
Yes
i have a 1997 ford f 150 is it enough room for a double din to the back ?thank you
You'll have to cut some plastic behind the dash as shown in the video to make room for a double din if it is like mine. There is enough room to the back once the plastic sub dash is cut.
@@toddslusser8380 awesome thank you im gonna do that
Apple CarPlay connects via the USB cable that routes to the back of the stereo. CarPlay does not work via Bluetooth.
Can you pull it back out after you snap it in or no ?
Yes, it can be wiggled out without any special tools.
Todd Slusser ok good to know I’m planning to in stall a sub after this and I wasn’t sure how hard it would be to get back out thanks
Always solder your connections
Another thing that would have been easier, you could have spliced into the back up light for the power, that way it triggers the camera to come on when you put the truck in reverse, wouldn’t have needed the relay and extra wiring
Yes, you are right. One advantage with the way I did it is that I can turn the camera on anytime. I don’t do that very often though!
what deck is this??
Pioneer. Model number is shown at 13:00 minutes in the video.
Be nice to see what you're cutting but I got this.
Please slow down the camera movements next time.
Funny that the part of cutting the opening to size portion of the video might as well have just been audio. Worthless.
