In my opinion, Vader never became a true Sith Lord because he never sought power for power's sake. He was extremely powerful and violent but he didn't crave dominance in the same way Sidious did. Anakin's actions came from a place of hurt and loss, not a desire to dominate.

Of all the Siths, why does Vader have a split personality? Of course, Revan was due to amnesia, but Anakin seemed to be self-inflicted?

He sided with Palpatine to save Padme. After she died his reason for joining the sith was gone, but he had already betrayed the jedi. He was stuck serving Palpatine and Padme was dead.
