William's and Deban's reaction really sum up the reactions in the eurovision community. There are a lot of people who really love the song. But there are also a lot of people who are turned off by the song. It's really interesting to see that in the video 4:52 :D
Which is what you want from a song at Eurovision. The worst thing would have been for people to be neutral on your song. The people that love this song will vote for it many times. It was the same with Toy last year.
@@sav0001 exactly! I have to be honest I'm not a huge fan of the song myself, so it's really hard for me to predict how well it is going to perform in tel Aviv. I can see it as a non qualifier but also as top 10 material. :D However Australia is taking a risk this year and isn't it exactly that what fans always wanted? :D

It is a very daring entry. Kate‘s superb vocal performance gives me „Queen of the Night“-vibes, very Mozart-esque. This is a great musical statement. 👍 to Australia!

I absolutely agree with your comment. I can’t understand the hype. To me it sounds like a modernised operatic version of a Kate Bush song. I really want to love it but I genuinely don’t.

This song simply makes me feel good. Long before I knew what it was about, its breezy, anthemic lightness just made me feel happy. And now I see the story behind the writing of the song, about pushing away depression and feeling that positivity infuse you again, that is exactly its intention. Loved Electric Fields as well, but in a very difficult choice this just pipped it for me. As that was exactly the way the jury and Oz public voted, I can hardly complain about that.

You cannot react to this without seeing the performance itself! It's extraordinary to sing in the way she did it - very physically challenging to sing it at all, given the physical challenges of the staging, and the intersection with the physicality of singing.

I love this song. It’s about depression. Kate had post natal depression after the birth of her baby. “Stone in my shoe” is the depression and the lady on the stick behind her is the dark cloud of depression. It’s about her feeling free and light (ie zero gravity) since she has beaten depression. Great song! Great message!

Many, many comments about Electric Fields in this thread. Very fair, yes Zaachariaha and Michael were wonderful, except, they have very little experience with television (they said on Friday that working with eight cameras was very new to them and daunting.) Their jury performance was not the best, compared to their live performance (and their Saturday afternoon rehearsal was ordinary.) They found real life with a larger crowd on Saturday night which is what they do best - play to large, music festival crowds.
What they have done though is learn. They will have learned from this experience, and I expect them to be back, if not next year then the year after. And they will be so much the better for it. What Australia has lacked was the capture of the Europe wide public vote, it's always let Australia down (both in ESC and JESC). Electric Fields with the right song and stage performance (remembering Eurovsion is a song contest made for television) could very well win ESC for Australia in the coming years.

Totally totally disagree....she is NOTHING like Estonia. This song infuses pop, classical, and opera. WOW.......what a great, weird, pleasant, interesting, beautiful song. I havn't heard all of the other songs (apart from the Italian entry, which is very boring and bland), but i do believe this song will be top 2....i'm willing to put my house on it!😚😚🤞🤞

You can go virtuoso on Eurovision as much as you want, but please don't get stuck in your head. Too much technicality comes across as gimmicky, even for ESC standards. Emotion is what's essential, and this is not cutting it. I'm siding with Deban here. What we've got is two strikes at a build-up without a climax and an outro that lasts for too long without any new phrases to further elaborate the melodic theme. It was a great idea on the paper, but the 3-minute execution doesn't do it justice. It's a loose quilt. Still, good luck Australia. I suspect y'all might need some.

For heaven's sake, Eurovision is a big triviality but (for me at least) it comes with a VERY big fun factor as well. I love it, but there is no reason for this "I dislike the toy of the others because I lost mine"-attitude. I preferred Electric Fields (just amazing), but the winner is not bad, either. Ben from Austria.
