  • Christmas Day 2021! Merry Christmas! Always tough to get a longer ride in between family commitments, so it's onto Zwift at 6pm at night to cram in my daily Festive 500 km quota. Today's video covers my 'Ultimate Indoor Cycling Smart Desk' setup I've built over the last 18 months. The base is a Wahoo Kickr desk. The end result is something that does a LOT!

Towel mod: attach a lanyard to the towel and tie it to the brake cable (or in your case the towel hook). That way if your drop it you can get it back without screaming for help from your kid.

I use an Ikea laptop stand for $35. Does everything I need to and doesn't block the airflow by having it infront. Towel goes over the handle bars to prevent sweat droplets. Fans are connected through kasa on a smart switch, I just turn them on as I progressively warm up.

Loving all the MacGyver hacks you've done to your desk - I've done a whole bunch of modifications too! I think we're an inventive bunch, or we like to create as much convenience as possible to avoid having to break away during a workout or race. I started with a cheap wheeled desk off Amazon (I tried the Wahoo desk but found the surface area a little small - suspect you do too since you have an additional side table!) and I've modified it with various bits including little under-desk trays for storage. I'm a creature of habit so everything has its "place" on the desk surface! The only things I'd really like to figure out how to integrate still would be some kind of wet bar (!) to chill my cold drinks or serve me a hot espresso... maybe what I actually need is a robot butler 🤣🤣

Love your set-up. I'm working with the dining room table/computer desk/table (and the whole dining room) for the monitor and a really nice music stand for keyboard/mouse/phone/food. Water bottles are in the smart trainer mounted bike bottle holders and the Kickr Climb controller is on the handlebars. Hope to move to a large(r) screen TV later this year, so it'll all need a major rethink.

I've been waiting too long and too intently to see the desk setup 😁 All the little things, like power and USB, are great to see as they're the things that are likely bugbears for us all. One thing that will always be different for me - the mouse. How does using a desk like that effect the wahoo headwind and/or view of the screen? I'd like a surface in front but feel it would likely block air from the headwind higher up on the body when training/racing.

Got some good deals on smart trainers here in Canada right now and looking to upgrade my smart trainer from a TacX wheel-on to a direct drive trainer. I've been looking at the Kickr Core and Saris H3 as with the current deals they're about the same price (around $1100 CAD). There's also the Flux 2 and Elite XR in that range. Currently leaning towards the Kickr, but the extra good deal on the H3 is tempting. Any advice?

Four small drill holes on each corner (2.5mm or so drill bit), then a Dremel or similar to join them up. Always cut smaller than you need then widen the hole until the gauge clips in neatly.

As a recent subscriber to your CZcams channel I found this really helpful. I'm now in the process of making my own setup based upon your recommendations. However, I am having a nightmare running Zwift on Apple 4k TV through 21" PC monitor using HDMI to VGA on the monitor. I will 'upgrade' to a TV at some point, but. trying to get the Apple Remote to do almost anything mid-ride (type messages for example) is totally hit-and-miss with the emphasis upon the 'miss'. I am deeply into the Apple-tech-system and their TV remote is by far their worst product. What do you use and why do you have the keyboard and mouse when I can see the Apple TV box in your setup?
