The BEST Garmin ClimbPro Screen Setup using ConnectIQ EDGE MapFields 🚵♂️
A much requested feature of ClimbPro is to allow users more customisation options for data fields on the ClimbPro screen. With the data fields locked at two single half-screen fields, the options are limited. Thankfully with the MapFields add-on there's a few ways of making the ClimbPro page a LOT more useful!

The long awaited update to the Hammerhead Karoo cycling computer! And what happened with iGSPORT 800, review ???
Still in progress. As I've replied to someone else here already tonight - The iGS800 is simply not ready for release. There's so many things wrong with it they needed to spend another six months fixing things before launching. There's some unfixable hardware issues too. The review will be out sometime soon. It's not great.
Got a 840 but as I need reading glasses I struggle to follow the thin blue line on my map/route can I make the line thicker or easier to see. Thanks
Hi Shane. Will we be seeing a full review of the iGPSport iGS800 GPS Cycling Computer anytime soon? Looking forward to it. Thanks.

Wish Garmin would do something for the aged/bifocal people where the tiny letters are so difficult to read
I joined zwift a few months ago and this price increase won't change anything for me.
Thanks Shane. How did you get the map on the climb pro screen please?
Looks like that might only be a 1040 thing.
Incredible Garmin don't let customize climb pro screen as you want. I don't want the map for example in the climb pro screen but I can't erase it. Incredible as poor developing. Maybe I only want know how many meters remain, make this values data fields and I choose the ones I like, Garmin.
Simply perfect Shane, one of the weakest parts of the Connect IQ store is the ability to find Apps, I want Cadence, HR and Power on Climb Pro, finally I can get it
How do I keep the map during climb pro? It dissapears during a climb and just shows elevation and those 2 data fields. My unit is Explore 2.
You’ll need a 1030/1040 with more screen realestate.
I'm still using my trusty 1030. I don't see an option in the ride profiles to keep ClimbPro active (keep screen on head unit) while on the climb. I get the ClimbPro screen, but it keeps scrolling through my other screens. I've been tempted to pull the trigger on a 1040 and keep telling myself it will have better features, but the cheapskate in me wants to wait for the 1050!
I can’t even see the original fields let alone 4 fields
Another really useful video but the ConnectIQ apps on my 1030 Plus crash on pretty much every ride now so I probably won't bother.
Is there a way to display both climb pro and map fields at the same time on my edge 530 ? I cannot find the option in the settings.
Possibly only an option on the larger 1040 units.
@@gplama i was about to ask the same question, but i own a 1030 plus, and i cant find that. And it buggers me when climb pro takes over before a crossroad and i did not see which way i gotta go.
How is it useful to have anything displayed in such small characters on that screen? Who can actually make any of that out while pedaling? 😒
Works for me. The data shown is bigger than MapDashboard which a lot of people happily use.
I can see it clearly on my 1040 and i have a poor vision so… 💁🏻
I'm a middle aged man and can still read all the data on my Edge 1030.
Just tried it on my 1040 but on my unit the datafiels looks horrible. Very blurry around the edges of the numbers and letters.
Been using MapFields / #2 on my 540 for a month or so now. Very handy on those screens where it is fixed to two fields.
Great video as always. But I think it is IMPORTANT to mention that the SDK is NOT enabled or installed for those who want and need to make some 3rd party developers application to work. For example, I have Type 1 Diabetes, and the developers at INFLITE developed a great and simple application that allows you to add key data fields related to blood glucose management information. For us Type 1 diabetics, being able to have our glucose levels field visible on the GPS computer is as important if not more than any other GPS native data fields. Please, put pressure on Hammerhead (or SRAM) developers to re-enabled SDK such that we can get this vital application working again. Thank you!
It was assumed they’d enable it on launch, so I didn’t mention it. If you’re across my posts on Reddit you’ll know my stance on this.
Why do we need a map on screen at all. Just want the climb part and the bottom part.
I personally think that’s really useful. Quite often on a climb there is a turn and when on an effort simple mind often forgets the turn 😊
Hi Shane, do you know of anyway (on an Edge Explore2) to increase the size of blue location arrow and the history line on the map? I just find them too small, regards from Italy (escaping Ballarat’s winter) !
There’s a file hack to change the position triangle. Not sure about the line thickness though. I’ll dig more into this when I get the chance.
Can these climb apps run off a tablet? You could mount an ipad on the bars to have more real estate to see more data.
Please don’t do that.
Hey GP how can I turn this off as it comes up during my rides constantly and is annoying I suppose my climb pro is set to auto?
Just switch it to off in the profile setup.
Thanks!
never gets old tutorial.. great work. thanks mate>>
Shane, are Garmin still updating the x30 series? I don't remember seeing one for a while now. I don't see any great leap in functionality to make go to a x40 series.
No. There’s a minor bug fix coming soon for the x30 (currently in beta). That’s all I’ve seen in a long while.
GP Lama is doing free consulting / advisoring for Shimano.
That’s pretty much every review.
Need to remap LAP button on explore 2 to something useful ;)
Just FYI, you can now buy the ZWIFT CLICK VIRTUAL SHIFTER standalone
This helped! Thanks
So on my device after updating to this version I still have battery issues. Today it went from around 90% to 50% in 2 hours... Also I don't really have issues with it draining in sleep, even though that has happened at least once before. My issue is that the battery often drains way too fast when I am riding. It's easily noticeable given that when it's not being drained it lasts around 5 to 10 times longer.
This is the first and only practical no nonsense review on these tubes I have seen. I do not have the patience for the fun and games of those English wise guys at GCN, that think they are so pretty and cool. They ain't. Great job.
At the back end of the 10 speed Red production, SRAM introduced a revised version still on 10 speed replaced shortly by the almost identical Red 22, but on 11 speed. I was thinking at launch that this 12 speed Red might just be a place holder until they come up with the 13 speed one. And with the 1x13 gravel prototype spotting that is on the cards.
Morning GP! When you were showing your map screen you had a cool data setup under the wind box showing all your stats etc. how did you do that?! It’s almost like a data banner smaller than the normal data window. I appreciate your help and great channel btw!
Maybe MapDashboard: czcams.com/video/HCb7OFJqUj8/video.html
@@gplama thank you! Perfect.
They should also update their font size in time fields. The font size indicating the number of hours ridden, is way too small compared to minutes and seconds.
Hello. After installing the latest update on my Edge 540 device, there are connection problems and disconnections between the device and the Force Axs power meter. What should I do? Can I roll back the last update...
Call Garmin support.
Don't even have a wahoo but seeing the function is so cool.
This one vs tacx vs stages wich one do you prefer?
I found one more thing. Now climb category in climb setting (filter, what climbs need to be detected) became colorful and more understandable.
This trainer is compatible with shimano microspline 12s??
One for Garmin support. Not something I’ve looked into on the Neo range.
Also a new update for the Edge Explore 2 just dropped, but it's version 20 rather than 21. Still, given that the Explore 2 is a cousin to the x40 series I'd assume that quite a few of these fixes apply to it as well.
Looks like it has 21.16 and all the same updates: forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-explore-2/373500/new-edge-explore-2-version-21-16-now-available---phased-rollout-50
I purchased this pedal and measured stack height. 11.2mm is only pedal (18.2mm including cleat) where Shimano XTR's official number 15.5 is including cleat. So be aware of 2.7mm increase in "TOTAL" stack height. Feel scammed tbh.
0:24 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Still a great video, I decided to start recording my weekend rides with a GoPro9 I got for my Bday and this video is exactly what I needed to get started! Thanks Shane🙂 (Also ordered the Bryton Gardia based on your review a few days ago) Love your channel!!!!!!
I use the polar verity sense! It's not junk man! I love it. It's very comfortable to wear and doesn't require any gel or sweat to start working (optical sensor). I have compared it to the garmin dual HRM strap and it seems very accurate as well. I don't really like the feeling of a strap around my chest and so this is a great alternative. I wear it on my upper arm with the sensor towards the inside (medial aspect) of my arm and I put it under the sleeve of my jersey. I often forget I am even wearing it until I start undressing to take a shower after my ride and I realize it's there.
I didn't mean to call it junk... much. It's what I refer to almost everything! :) I typically switch to arm HR in summer.
@gplama why arm vs chest in summer?
Getting back on this after Zwift price hikee 😂
Hi GPLama, thanks a lot for tou detailed review. I'm looking for a power meter on my road bike equipped with an ultegra r8100. Which one do you recommend? Magene p505 base or 4iiii precision 3+?
Entirely your call what to go with there.
@GPLama - were you able to set up your wireless blips for both short and long press? I came across people on Garmin forum reporting they were able to get the short press ant+ only, but not the long one. Is that a limitation of wireless blips over ant+? Would be great if you can test on yours.
I believe the Blips only do short presses. It's how they conserve their non-replaceable batteries. The AXS app only lists 'short press' as an option when configuring them in ANT+ Shift Function mode. Garmin Edge devices still list Long Press, in error I assume.
@@gplama That makes sense (unfortunately), but it's a bit pity for Rival AXS owners - no wired port and a prospect of $100 out of pocket to merely scroll the screen back and forth is a luxury. If there was only a way to have one blip set up as Pause/Resume workout (for controlling recovery time between hill repeats, not stoping the timer) and then the other as screen scroll fwd. Alas being on Edge 840 I don't see that be a valid scenario. Cheers mate!👍
I would really like it if there was a way to display the navigation line and especially my navigation arrow larger. Just like it is with Wahoo or Karoo. Is there a possibility or will Garmin offer this again?
So I run r8000 di2 and have some for some time. As soon as I got this, some years ago,I immediately used etube changed mine so the little buttons on the top of the hoods change the front mech and both shifters to change the rear mech (similar to etap). Is this not pretty much the same but better?
Many issues with power meters connection dropping since this firmware update :-(
The mounting system is terrible. I ditched my 2 and went back to Garmin 840 because of it. I'm not seeing any reason to change again.
Should I just give up on my Edge 830?
Does the WindField work with your 1040Solar? With mine it shuts down occasionally all sensors until I make a hard restart of my Edge. And it's frustrating, when you ride a training and suddenly all your sensors are lost until the device is physically restarted
