    I would say Singapore is near perfect for high income earners. Some pros that often heard from expats are actually not so affordable to locals/foreigners who earn average income. However, even for average earners, there are still some advantages that are not easy to get in many other countries (of coz, with trade-offs) 🙂 In overall, it's a great place to live if one gets a not over demanding job.

I’m just tired and bored of living in London, what I meant is I’m looking for a city to live in , in the future that is friendly and accepting to foreigners. A city that is going to be vibrant and exciting and more cleaner than London with a better climate!!

    • @natalia3966

      @Montalbanov I don’t feel any excitement or growth anymore. I spend a ridiculous amount on renting- that is defiantly something which upsets me and makes me feel unsecure. Also exactly what you have said!! The people! It’s very hard to find genuine people here and people who you can actually rely on. Deep connections defiantly hard to find here and I do feel lonely a lot and can’t say I have any genuine friends here. I love to travel as this makes me feel a lot less lonely as in hostels you meet so many people and it’s so exciting I miss travelling sooooo much. I have been to Prague 2 years ago, it is a nice city!

If you have a lot of money then yea sure it’s a great city indeed. But for your average person not at all

    Things I've found: Let's be honest, Singapore is very noisy, almost 24/7. It's not uncommon to be awoken in the wee hours by some inconsiderate clod with a pumped-up sportscar with a super loud exhaust or a motorcycle. It's a small island and getting away from the noise is next to impossible, but it can be done, there are green spaces and once you're away from a major road, which, let's be honest, there are major roads all over SG, you can find respite from the rattle and hum of the city. SG isn't a crowded place by any means. I lived in Shanghai for a year and until you're tried to take a walk in a popular spot on a weekend and ended up going for a jostle instead you'll appreciate how uncrowded SG is.
    A huge variety of food is at your fingertips in Singapore. Being a foodie, Singapore is awesome, there's something for everyone. COVID has put a damper on Hawker Center food culture but it's still not bad.
    Public transportation in Singapore is excellent. Singapore is safe and orderly and in general, Singaporeans are very orderly, law-abiding people, and riding the busses and subway isn't a jostle like it is in China. The system is clean, well run and I would highly advise you pick up a pass.
    Cycling. Singapore is NOT a bicycle-friendly city. Drivers in SG are not what I'd call considerate and riding a bicycle on the streets is an exercise in being super aware of your surroundings at all times - never trust that a driver has seen you. That said, there are lots of waterfront paths to cycle on as long as you are mindful of the many people on foot and the sidewalks, which tend to be wide and where a lot of people cycle; mostly to get away from the cars. Shanghai was a much more bicycle-friendly city with dedicated bike lanes and right-of-ways. The thing is, there is a 'share the road' campaign in SG, it just doesn't seem to be very active or successful.
    I've lived in the Middle East, Nepal, and China and have traveled extensively all over the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. Singapore is very easy to get along in, I did find the banking and government departments were easy to deal with as an ex-pat. I'm not a fan of the healthcare system in Singapore, but as an ex-pat, my company provided a very good health insurance plan - and I would advise anyone living in SG to invest in a comprehensive health insurance plan. The health system is different for permanent residents and citizens.
    The SG healthcare system is very good and very, very expensive, quite a lot like the American system it's basically a semi-regulated free-market and a visit to a hospital or a doctor can be very costly, so make sure you're insured. Before COVID SG was a fantastic place for nightlife with hawker centers, entertainment streets, lights, and lots of public events. I'm reasonably sure these things will all make a come back after the pandemic is under control, or at least, I'd like to hope they do.
    Singapore is one of my favourite cities. Nowhere is perfect, but that shouldn't stop you from experiencing it for yourself and seeing how you feel. I honestly think that if you have the chance you should spend time in SG and get to know it on your own terms.

    • @TheKrazyKoala
      @TheKrazyKoala  Před 3 lety

      I also lived in Shanghai for a year 😂 I totally know what you meant!!! But no, SG healthcare system is not like American one. American is 10X more expensive than SG one

    • @ByronAgain
      @ByronAgain Před 3 lety

      @@TheKrazyKoala From a Canadian perspective they're both super expensive. We pay about 1000/year for healthcare in BC, which is cheap compared to SG and the US. My company health insurance here in SG is a group plan that has fixed limits on annual health costs, so for example 20k/year is the most the plan will pay out, after which you're responsible for the balance. The annual premiums for my SG insurance are lower than my Canadian healthcare, but there are no limits to the Canadian coverage - if you need an organ transplant or major surgery, it's covered in Canada. The only thing we might want private insurance for in Canada is to pay for a private room or for loss of income while recovering. My understanding is that citizens and permanent residents in SG have a different plan where the Government offsets (subsidizes?) healthcare costs, but that one still needs private insurance. Now, I will admit that being Canadian my perspective is that healthcare can be successfully managed at a provincial level and that it can be accessible to everyone, and that in doing so we create healthier communities. Most Europeans would agree with this perspective. This point of view makes SG and US healthcare baffling at best and terrifying at worst - no one in Canada ends up with massive medical debt, for instance, or dies because they can't afford treatment. I've been living the ex-pat life for a fairly long time now and have grown accustomed to securing the best medical insurance I can when settling into a new country, it's just how one do when going ex-pat, no?

    • @TheKrazyKoala
      @TheKrazyKoala  Před 3 lety

      @@ByronAgain it’s true that Canadian healthcare is very good which I mentioned in one of my previous video about US presidential election debate. But From American perspectives, SG healthcare is very cheap. My doc consultation in SG without insurance is SG$20-28 in a clinic inside the community. For the same service in US, you need to pay US$200. More than 10X. As a SG PR, we can pay extra S$200-300 per year to upgrade ourselves to private healthcare plan. In US, I would pay $20k USD a year, which is 100X more. Just my personal experience

    • @ByronAgain
      @ByronAgain Před 3 lety

      @@TheKrazyKoala Yep. It's all good information that prospective ex-pats should be aware of. American ex--pats will indeed have a different perspective and to them, SG will look very cheap. I had to see a specialist here in SG for a back problem, a single visit started at $250SG for the consult. Insurance covered this, but the insurance also has limits on the total amount per month and per year that it covers. The good thing about the SG healthcare system is that there's a lot of choices even for ex-pats and as long as your company has provided a good plan for you it's mostly covered.

    Hello KK I wanna add a S in front of KK if you let me.
    I agree with everything in the video and I love the part about connecting mentally.
    2 things I wanna share my perspective on the 1st and last topic lost and found items and clean and organized.
    Lost and found I have received my wallet back in my teens twice when I dropped it. However I'm quite careful of cashier's who handle my credit cards and I never have gpay on my phone. I always set an sms alert on all my cc transactions and also make an effort to read my bill statement monthly. I get nervous when cashiers hidey card out of site or hold my card too long. Always feel thaty details are compromised.
    As a Singaporean I feel our cleanliness standards lose to some 1st world countries. Especially where to tuck our trash and whether we bother to clean the toilet after we use. Unfortunately we leave it to the cleaners to rubbish disposal the to manage our shortfalls.
    Often I see people leave empty bottles and food packs on the streets in carparks and outside the bins. Then in toilets we get a lot of people pooing all around and not concerned about who's next.
    Personally I was told to hijack my rubbish off a Japan snow village. It was a no rubbish zone and villagers actually kept a look out of tourist left any trash around. Then I knew that our local cleanliness standards are maybe not from the heart but rather instilled with not proper morale standards or ideals.

    Its because you are so refined, adorable, intelligent and truly in a league of your own, you will always be the one and only who will eternally fill up all my senses in expressing all five languages of love towards a lady. XOXOXOXO
