Today, we are talking about Godzilla videogames, and why we are in desperate need for a NEW one.
It has been too long since the last real Godzilla fighting game. I've been patiently waiting for 8+ years.

Yes, I have played Kaiju Universe. It's super impressive and very fun! That's the only kaiju game I've played on Roblox, I know there's more.
While the roblox games are awesome, my thirst will not be quenched until I get my new game!!

Please don’t think that kaiju universe is an amazing game. This is a super long story so I am going to make it quick. I used to play the game all the time up until a year ago. the game got super popular with kids. sudden incline of children = the devs made the game much easier and less skill based.
A much better kaiju game then this is one called project kaiju. It’s super fun and has that arcade fighting style to it. It’s also developed a lot better and cleaner with actual pvp.
I rarely play roblox anymore but the times I do play, this is one of the games I play. I highly recommend it.

@@BinHeadRobot Kaiju universe is more skill based now than ever before, new kaijus that have released have their own mechanics and systems that help them against other kaijus, and also nerfs them, if you generally dont like KU, then that’s fine, but dont degrade the game, Kaiju Universe is an amazing game, and is slowly getting better and better.
I suggest you try out Project Kaiju and Kaiju Arisen 5.0

Imagine a Godzilla unleashed 2 or Save The Earth 2 or just a completely different Godzilla game and called it Godzilla Ultimate Monsters and all the Monsters in the Godzilla verse comes in the game even Comics etc and having the graphics of the PS4 Godzilla but better while having better fighting styem like Godzilla Unleashed.

I’m a big godzilla fan and it has been way too long since we had a proper godzilla fighting game. Gigabash and it’s dlcs are great for now, but we’ll need a new game sooner rather than later.

I think the Gigabash team is trying to get Toho’s permission to make a full on Godzilla arena fighter, and knowing the team, if the deal goes through we’re also gonna be getting an absolutely wild guest roster on top of the Godzilla kaiju.
I feel you when you say it felt isolating to be a Godzilla fan of a kid. I only had one friend that really liked Godzilla as well but he kinda grew out of it. I never did.

I'm legitimately surprised that the rise in popularity from King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs Kong, the new Godzilla x Kong, and the overwhelming success of Godzilla Minus One has NOT inspired game companies to start on a Godzilla or Kaiju game.
The only thing we got was the Skull Island disaster...

Like leveling up godzilla, open world, a threat meter against monsters and the military, a hero and villain meter, it'll be open world with a storyline. With next generation graphics would be crazy. @@CoryJonesMusic Also what you are describing is not a simulator any more. It's an open world sandbox with RPG elements. You know. What all western AAA games try and most of the time fail to make unless you are Rockstar.

I want to see a game where you play as Godzilla and hunt down different monsters from his rogues gallery. You could even add different skins with different abilities similar to the suit abilities from the PS4 Spider-Man. And simi open world having you travel from different locations (levels) in the world

it'd be a cool idea that they're waiting for more monsters to appear in monsterverse media to put into the game. it'd make sense to capitalize on a monster fighting game when you have a sizable roster to put into said game. i'd be hype to see a more modern approach to Megalon and Anguirus, then be even more hyped to see them in a new game!
I always wonder what modern versions of some of the classic monsters would look like. I hope we some official versions soon!

i loved how they did Anguirus in the most recent godzilla anime, altough he was pretty small it was a very cool modernized design

3:18 Nah, it was made for Godzilla's anniversary in 2014 as a Japan exclusive on the PS3. It just so happened to be around the same time that Legendary's Godzilla movie was coming out, so they ported it over to the PS4 with more content and released it to everywhere else the next year. It was never meant to become so big.

Have you heard of the project, Godzilla: Save The Earth Melee? Its a complete revamp of save the earth with new game modes monsters, gameplay, skins and so much more. It’s not out yet unfortunately but the devs are working hard to get it out very soon!

It's kinda hard to really get excited for that since it'll either not be done for a couple of years or it won't be done at all.
That's not to say the creators aren't doing awesome work, they absolutely are. It's just the unfortunate truth with such ambitious fan-creations.
Does anybody remember the Godzilla Drought which lasted from like 2005 - 2013? Aside from Godzilla Unleashed there was no content being released and there were nonstop rumors about a potential film. Specifically "Godzilla 2012"

How could we forget? I feel like the younger fans just won't get that same experience of hype for the Monsterverse starting, because they just weren't alive or were too young to be interested.
The PS4 game, while certainly pretty flawed, was a step in the right direction for Godzilla games imo.
*Pros:*
The models. The monsters feel highly detailed and accurate. It succeeds in making you feel like you're playing a Godzilla movie.
The destruction. The buildings blow up not like in real life, but how they would on a Godzilla set. Really strengthens the immersion.
The movement. This is where many fans are split, but I honestly liked the tank controls and slow movement for the monsters. In many other games, they behaved more like kickboxers or wrestlers rather than building-sized kaiju.
The awareness of the source material. There's many little touches in the game that true fans can appreciate, like Jet Jaguar's theme, Mecha King Ghidorah's claw attack and the many monster entrance cutscenes that reference the old movies.
Master Of Destruction/ Evolution mode. I like that you can grow and evolve your monster with this mode. Buying New abilities and refining ones you already have gives the game a sense of progress, one of my favorite aspects in a video game.
The increasing activity of the military. The more destruction you cause, the more weapons the humans sent your way. From the usual tanks, fighter jets and battleships to submarines, mesa tanks and even Super X-1, 2, 3 and Gotengo. Especially the latter four can put you in a bad position if you're not careful.
*Cons:*
No real block ability. The closest thing we get is a temporary roar block, but that only helps you out shortly. I'd rather have a block that prevents most of the damage, but not all of it, along with attacks that are unblockable to counter it.
Boring maps. I understand that most Godzilla movies, especially the fights, mostly take place in cities. But I'd welcome a bit more color and variety. Maybe some locations from movies, or just overall new arenas that have their own rules to keep in mind.
Very limited movesets for other kaiju. The Godzilla's are the only ones that have an expandable range of attacks and abilities. All others have a set of about three or four moves at most, which makes fights with them kinda repetitive and unfair when fighting Godzilla, whether the other monsters are controlled by a player or cpu.
No customizable matches. There is only three modes of playing the game: Master Of Destruction, King Of Kaiju and Multiplayer. There should be a mode where next to your own monster, you can also pick your opponent(s), map and maybe set teams to fight with, with a max of four monsters (1v1, 2v2, 2v1, 3v1, free-for-all).
Flawed Multiplayer. While the three Monster structure is interesting, where you have to choose who to take on first, it's pretty broken in execution. The third opponent can just wait the first two out until one of them falls, and the other badly wounded one finds himself facing another enemy at peak health. Four monsters would have been more balanced, where the winners of the first two duels have to settle it with a much more intense battle at less health, kinda like what For Honor did.
No difficulty setting. If you feel over- or underwhelmed with the challenges, there's nothing you can do about it, making every run with the same monsters the same experience.
If I were to direct a Godzilla game, I would make sure to include:
1. A wider collection of *maps* ( *Tokyo,* *Osaka,* *New York,* *San* *Francisco,* *Las* *Vegas,* *Los* *Angeles,* *Sydney,* *Paris,* *London,* *Dubai,* *Arctic,* *Monster* *Island,* *Volcano* *Crater,* *Planet X* )
2. *Fully* *customizable* *battles* (opponent, arena, difficulty, amount of players, building of teams, military activity)
3. A *story*
4. A *survival* mode
5. A progressively more aggressive *military.* One that becomes more and more dangerous the longer you fight it, sort of becoming an additional opponent on the battlefield, only sparing Jet Jaguar, Mechagodzilla 2, Moguera and Mechagodzilla 3. (And maybe if a high enough military activity is reached, there's less than four monsters fighting, and at least one of these four robots isn't used by a player, they could send one of them in as a CPU-opponent.)
6. More *abilities* for the other monsters
And 7. the *biggest* *Monster* *roster* in a Godzilla game yet, divided into *character* *packs* you can purchase by progressing in the game, and some even with different unlockable *Skins* /versions with unique abilities, (like the variants in Mortal Kombat X) including:

An open world Godzilla game with city destruction physics would be awesome. Id love to be able to build a pack of monsters or have multiple playable protagonists gta 5 style. Destruction as a mechanic would also help it get over the usual “capture the outpost” slog a lot of open world games fall into. You’re Godzilla, you aren’t capturing anything, you’re blowing it up. Blowing things up as Godzilla is fun. God imagine how cool it’d be to roll up to a major city with Rodan, Mothra, and Anguirus at your side. I get so excited just thinking about the idea of stomping through a city or swimming through the ocean as Godzilla. There’s so much potential. A campaign mode, a simple open world destruction mode with more playable kaiju and a co-op component where you can just fight the military in a city with your friends, an online team vs mode where you’re dropped into different locations and you play as different “good” or “bad” kaijus while fighting other players, maybe even an online mega boss mode where one person plays as an exceptionally large and powerful kaiju like Destroyah while a few other players have to work together to take them down.
A big budget game could also have such a great story, it’d have the chance to tap into the weirder and more obscure sides of Godzilla lore. Introduce kiryu as a rival character who eventually becomes playable, give characters like anguirus and megalon the chance to really shine, throw jet jaguar in, the basic premise could be an open approach to “unite all the monsters and become the alpha kaiju while being hunted by militaries” with a botw approach of tackling things on a checklist in whatever order you want, and using that to tell individual stories that combine into a greater narrative. The opening act could have you stomping around looking for rodan, mothra, and anguirus, the second act could have you taking out major threats like military installations and asserting dominance over kaiju like gigan or battra while slowly discovering the existence of Destroyah, with the final act being an all out brawl between the kaiju you’ve allied with, and Destroyah, MechaGhidorah, and whatever other major threats could pop up.
There’s so much potential for a new Godzilla game, I hope we get one soon.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy about the recent success of the franchise and seeing this much content warms my heart. I remember growing up with Save the Earth and I remember trying to get all the kaiju for hours straight. And there's just nothing nowadays. I'm really hoping we get a real game like the trilogy with actual care - I really don't want another Rise of Kong situation. The video game genre is definitely the most overlooked part of Godzilla, it's really the only thing we can ask for at this point.
Big props for mentioning Gigabash! I very recently download it, with the Godzilla DLC, and while it's relatively simplistic, it's so, so much fun! Especialy if you have a friend or two to play with or against!
Also, the Godzilla characters are amazingly integrated! Each has their own distinct style, like Gigan being nimble and aggressive, Kiryu being all about zoning the opponent with ranged firepower etc., practicaly all their moves are from the movies and every monster looks FANTASTIC!

As a fellow Pipeworks Godzilla fan, it really would be awesome to get something new. I just hope that if they eventually decide to make one, it’s done right. With a huge roster to pick from, the number of Kaiju’s they can pick from is honestly endless. I really wish Godzilla Battle Line would get more recognition. It really is a fun game. It’s cool to see them do so many crossovers with different monsters and Kaiju's, but it’s unfortunate it doesn’t have the same global marketing as a Clash Royale. I feel like so many people do not even know Godzilla Battle Line exists.

I really related to what you said about growing up with Godzilla. I was the same way, no one around cared about Godzilla at first but now I love that the mainstream have now accepted the series.
In addition, yeah we need a new Godzilla game.
Dunno how hot this take would be but I think a good point of reference for what could be done for a Godzilla game is Pokken Tournament, particularly the "phase switch" mechanic where you've got an over-the-shoulder perspective and ranged attacks in the "field phase" and a side-on camera with physical attacks more like a tradition fighter in the "duel phase" - that could work incredibly well for a kaiju brawler cause you could have the field phase be focused on heisei-esque beam battles and throwing buildings, whereas the duel phase could be more showa-esque physical combat and wrestling. It's worth noting that Bandai Namco, devs of Pokken, published the 2014 Godzilla game and have good relations with Toho on their merchandise.
Man I still have my copy of Godzilla unleashed to this day, and hope there will be a new godzilla game, or at the very least a port of the pipeworks trilogy
As a big fan of the Godzilla franchise as a whole, I would love to see a current gen Godzilla game with monsters from every era.
They could just directly port Save the earth or something and I'd be happy. Even if they kept the same graphics and was local only.

I fully agree, it's been too long that we have been waiting for a new console Godzila game. Hopefully this latest surge in Godzilla media will push Toho/Legendary to create a new console game where we can play as the monsters. I would love to see something with some open world elements maybe.

I know it wasn’t long, but I really liked “Super Godzilla”. As a kid, even my dad would play it and get me to the point where you fight as super Godzilla and fight Bagan. Simple but that’s honestly what made me fall in love with the Godzilla and the franchise. Destroy all monster remake would be fantastic. Godzilla for PlayStation could have been something, they just dropped the ball in objectives and level design. Kaiju graphically, and feeling like a giant with a slow pace, I actually appreciated.
That’s a cool story! I don’t really mind the slower pace of the ps4 game, it made sense for what it was trying to do. I just prefer the style of the pipeworks trilogy

Godzilla Unleashed for the Wii was my first Godzilla game. So much nostalgia and good memories😢. There’s a youtuber named Awesome Productions that made a cool roster for the 4 factions if they ever made a sequel to Unleashed. Y’all should check it out, some cool ideas
Honestly they just need to remake Godzilla save the Earth and just jam in as many maps and monsters as possible keeping each of the monsters accurate to their movies but putting fun before accuracy wherever needed
(I especially hope for the ability to create custom monsters as a player cuz I would love to be able to make my own Godzilla and use him to fight in the arena)
Bonus points if their story mode and even a base mode is able to include a open free roam world that you can use to go from City to city destroying stuff in fighting other monsters with realistic destruction physics but it has to be done right for it to be good
And of course it'd be cool to include as much content as possible like trivia about the franchise and posters and whatnot

The devolpmemt is very slow, but look up Godzilla Save The Earth Melee. This team is entirely overhauling STE to make it the best possible godzilla fighter out there, and had a veey good demo release. Eventual plans to even add new monsters!

Pipeworks at the end of last year released a nice blogpost sharing their thoughts on Destroy All Monsters Melee and Save the Earth which were celebrating anniversaries, so the games are clearly still on their minds. I'd love for them to remaster / remake Unleashed as it had all the monsters from the previous games plus even more. Though, ideally, I'd want a new entry in the series to add in some of the monsters that weren't playable in the original trilogy (Hedorah, Kumonga, etc.) and the monsters that didn't even exist during the trilogy (MUTOs, Shin Godzilla, etc.) Maybe get Passion Republic Games (The GigaBash devs) to help make it as a thanks for getting Godzilla back into fighting games after his long absence.

You know, there was a developer named Simon Strange who worked with Pipeworks and he was originally trying to make a fighter called Colossal Kaiju Combat but, nobody talks about it anymore

I'm with ya dude, I'm hoping that toho or at least game devs are more keen to develop more Godzilla games since the franchise is doing very well nowdays, but for now, we have gigabash, an upcoming Save the Earth mod and the roblox gamesn(some of them are amazing to be in roblox lmao).

I remember when I was about 4ish-5 years old and I used to go to my dad's house and play Godzilla save the earth, with him and his friends, and one time, one of his friends said I can keep the game if I can beat him in a set, and I sure did lmao it was one of the best feelings in my life

Godzilla for PS4 was not an arcade game. It was intended as a Godzilla simulator, but destroy the city and maybe fight another Kaiju was less interesting than you might think it is (if you want to know what that is like without the Kaiju fight look up Godzilla Generations for the Dreamcast it is bad). So they added the destroy the generator mission to make it a bit more gamy. It started development before the PS4 dev kits went out because they wanted to make sure that it would release in Japan for the 60th anniversary. Because of that development on the PS4 version (called Godzilla VS. in Japan and East Asia) happened side by side with the PS3 version. You could only play as Godzilla in the PS3 version and the American Godzilla in one mode. The PS4 version was called VS. because they added all the other playable monsters and a VS. mode.

As a person who loves godzilla ever seince i was 4 (im 13..) its amazing how it has more content.
I agree with everything you said and since a lot of games are are coming back with remakes, remasters, and sequels like armored core 6, baldurs gate 3, dragon ball sparking zero, Metroid prime remastered, and persona 3 remake is a guarantee that there's going to be either a remake and a sequel to pipeworks Godzilla game or a new Godzilla game from a different game company.
I used to go to a Roblox game called Kaiju Universe, but it got taken down by toho. 60+ kaiju and was a pretty fun Godzilla fighting game, it was a bit grindy though. At the time of this comment the game no longer exists due to copyright, it sucks because it was one of the last good Godzilla fighting games, especially for Roblox.
I was actually super down for Voxel Wars. I really like the Fire Emblem series and want to try more SRPGs, and a Godzilla one were he fights military enemies, similar to Advance Wars, sounds really cool. Not sure how I feel about him fighting giant mushrooms instead though lol.
However I would still like a new arena fighter or a collection of the pipe works games on modern consoles. I also really hope GigaBash can get to the point where it becomes a massive Kaiju/Tokusatsu/Mecha crossover game it’s trying to become!
I may be alone, but a VR experience playing as Godzilla destroying a city would be pretty awesome. Maybe new threats in the form of kaiju and the military would pop up here and there at certain areas in the map. I’d really like to see the destroyed areas have NPC’s quickly rebuild the destroyed areas as stronger more fortified buildings and/or weapons used to fight against you. Could be a very fun gameplay loop.

Don't forget the Tie In Mobile game for the 2014 Godzilla film. It came out before the movie released to promote the movie.
You played as a soldier searching for civilians to rescue and avoid Godzilla.
The game starts off in a cargo plane and you do a halo jump just like the film. You had to dodge other soldiers doing the jump and even fall past Godzilla's head. You then pulled your parachute and had to dodged buildings, both destroyed and completely fine ones.
Once you land you had to go down streets full of debris and abandoned cars, throughout the game from memory there's three or maybe fours times where Godzilla looks like is chasing you, thus debris is flying everywhere and you need to run from him. You rescue two different groups of civilians throughout the game too. There's moments where you have to quickly climb up debris and onto rooftops, and when Godzilla pushes the very building you're standing on over, you have to jump from rooftop to rooftop to survive.
Eventually running into a Osprey and taking off. Watching Godzilla make one final roar before the door seals. And in the end, the game said "Thanks for playing!" and reminds you when the movie would release.
Do note again that this game was before the 2014 film, so at the time no one knew of the Mutos yet, making Godzilla look like the villain in the game. The movie posters do that as well, keeping Godzilla being the good guy a secret before it released.
It was definitely the best Mobile game for the big lizard. Sad its no longer on any stores now.
I bring this little mobile game up because I believe its the perfect formula for a Godzilla game where you play as a human soldier, surviving in a torn down city with Godzilla and who knows what other big bads in the universe roaming the place, having to evade them and try to save others is a Amazing perspective for a game for the franchise.
Ive always had an idea for a godzilla game in the back of my head ever since I was younger, I thought of like a story game where you play as a g-force of some sort and start out as someone on like a super x style ship and then progressively through the game you progress to pilot like say Kiryu or something. Each mission you partake in would be fighting a different kaiju in a monster hunter style fight.

I just bought gigabash with the godzilla dlc this weekend because Ive been craving a new godzilla game. It was a hell of a lotta fun! Honestly, if that developer could make a Godzilla focused version of that game with maybe a few tweaks I would be thrilled!

Lifelong Godzilla fan as well. While i liked superheroes later on. Godzilla was my first favorite anything and still is. With superhero films going through a lull. Godzilla is in a full swing resurgence that i never thought id see. As i kid i always wanted modern G films both from toho and for hollywood to get it right. Its a great time time to a G fan. That resrgence started when i was still a freshman in highschool and i can't believe its still going strong.
But your right we need a proper Godzilla game.
I think with these new consoles n such. We need a game with multiple game modes. Something thats a cross between the 4 major titles. Destroy all monsters melee, save the earth, unleashed, and the ps3/4/5 godzilla game.
I want to see a game mode like destroy all monsters where you can battle friends on or offline and battle it out.
I really want to see a main open world where you choose a early era starting monsters and play through a campaign. Unlocking other monsters to play as as you encounter them in the world or for missions. Different biomes, snow, desert, tropical, cities, mountains, oceans or large lakes in the environment. The sky if you have a flying monster.
I say its time we get a Godzilla game where all the monsters from the franchise are in it and playable.

I imagine you start out your choice of a showa era monster. Take the role of hero or villian. Or have it depend on your gameplay and choices type of thing.
As you explore an open world starting off as a 50 meter monster. You upgrade and level up as you attack, defend, destroy etc. Unlock abilities through skill tree. Upgrade your monsters and the progress would stay.
As you encounter othe monsters and beat them you get a character bio and you can now freely switch to that monster wheneve you like and start leveling up.
Eventually maybe you start as anguirus. You beat varan. Who can glide climb and swim. You can now explore more ocean and find other monsters like showa godzilla or titanosaruas.
As you progress through the game you can find hesei Godzilla to unlock whether it's 1985-1995 it could be random. Like you encounter one to big or strong forcing you to retreat level up and come back later
Lets say theres a later game mission. Youve already got quite a few monsters and your at the point where your comfortable with the combat.
Your chillin somewhere destroying a village as 1964 godzilla, and and you get a "titan sense" or something and get a ping for a somewhat hard to find Titan. You switch to your mothra 2019, fly high and head to your destination at mach speeds.
You start getting close and storm clouds form and the water below glows purple. Your boss fight, and monster to earn is shin Godzilla. Where you commence a unique areial/ ocean battle where your trying to inflict damage to stun but mothra 2019 needs be more close range combat making dodging shins atomic breath much harder.
Lets say your mothra gets knocked so you switch to your showa king ghidorah to finish it and can take the battle from the air and stand in the water for close combat. Once defeated you can switch to shin godzilla
This has been kinda a concept ive had. I want to play an open world game where you are the monsters. But i want something more than a beat em up. They are fun which is why it be nice to be included in a bigger overall game.
The Godzilla ps4 game controls are definitely weird. After years of playing its really easy to get combos n such. But it seems to be a remake of i think Godzilla generations.
There’s so much potential for crossover and kaiju brawling fun, let’s hope Toho and Warner Bros consider a new game given all the new releases of the King. Anywho, PLEASE ALLOW FOR ANOTHER GODZILLA BRAWLING GAME GAMING GODS!

I'm a huge Godzilla fan! I've been a fan since new years eve 1999 when I was up watching Godzilla vs Mothra with my dad (not knowing at the time that the world might... Y2K stuff). I've been waiting soooooooooooooo long for more Pipeworks Godzilla games! I feel as though now is the time! With Godzilla minus one being a smash hit, I think a Godzilla multiverse like game would be amazing! It would be a great way to include all the different Godzillas from Minus One, to the American (Mathew Broderick) Godzilla and even the Legendary Monsterverse. The could even include Gamera and Ultraman with their monsters. Call it something like Godzilla: Kaiju Smash, King of the Kaiju, Kaijuversus, Kaiju Convergence, Kaiju Clash, Kaiju Convergence: Godzilla's Multiverse Mayhem, Kaiju Showdown: Monsters from beyond, Godzilla: Multiversal Clash, Godzilla: Multiverse of Monsters! I wish there were more people out there that had a love for the old Pipeworks Games. I will say that the Ps4 game was ass doo doo. However, it did kind of scratch that itch I had but only for a little while. Also if they were to make the Multiversal game with all the different Kaiju properties, it would be really cool of they did what they did in Godzilla Unleahsed where they have monsters that influence the stories like Crystalak and Obsidius. A monster that opens up the multiverse. Call it something like Convergence or some sort of Cosmic Space Godzilla Variant. Regardless, I am glad to find another who loves the series! Fingers crossed for a new game!

We've been in a drought for Godzilla games for eons. I love Gigabash so much but I want a true Godzilla game. Dawn of the monsters was dope too Ngl. I hope that comes back as well since it ends on a cliffhanger.

At this point the only way I could see a new godzilla game is like how the asymmetrical online horror genre got big. One small developer creating their own kaiju game, it printing money, and then toho wanting a slice of that so they greenlight one. I would love to see AAA story based single player original kaiju game from a big developer with a huge budget. Sony are developing a Project Nemesis show and they could easily expand that into a game if they wanted to.

My dream game is like a Arc System Works 2D Godzilla Fighting game with like Crazy ass Super moves kind of like Fighterz. Mostly since Dragon Ball Fighterz is one my favorite Fighting games and Godzilla is my favorite franchise (probably) and since Dragon Ball has some Elements based off of Godzilla I would love to see these big ol monsters just zooming around. I know its a little goofy but so is Godzilla (For the most part).
For any who havent played. Gigabash is the only thing to scratch the itch for godzilla. It is the only thing carrying Godzilla in games in any meaningful way today that I know of.
