Electromagnet levitator experiment

This is a quick preview of research I'm doing with AC induced electromagnetic levitation. I have a project in mind for this and will release a video showing the whole thing in a few weeks.

What a cool idea... How about opposing permanent magnets to keep it floating in the middle with no power, then use +/- electromagnet current to adjust the height?

Neat idea, but it wouldn't work because the electromagnet I'm using is AC and not DC. The AC electromagnet would demagnetize the permanent magnets. Plus there would be this visual giveaway of permanent ring magnets on the post

@@GuyMarsdenMakesStuff Maybe i'll play around with the idea, pulsing DC should work with the lights and I'm not concerned about the magnets showing....... I can let you know if i make any progress. Looking forward to your followup video
