I am not going to lie.
I absolutely love that the entire Clean Sweep Operation is going to go up in smoke.
Because of Eggman's petty reaction to an add making fun of him.
Eggman will go to any length to get back at people so yeah things not looking good for Clutch, especially when Eggman see's confirmation he's nicking his old equipment.
Assuming they don’t take advantage of sonic using egg man tech to damage Sonic’s reputation and manipulate the restoration into cutting ties with him….

It's one thing for a person to make a mistake; it's another thing for that same person to deny making the mistake. Second, what I hated EVEN more, and still hate, is that so many idiotic psychopaths who call themselves "fans" are JUSTIFYING that attitude and saying it's how Sonic has ALWAYS BEEN! NO! This is NOT how Sonic has always been! He FOOLED himself into thinking true evil doesn't exist!

Issue 69 was a good set up issue. My favorite was definitely seeing Sonic’s crew interact with The Babylon rouges and Eggman. As a Riders fan it was a real treat and I can’t wait to see what happens next
speaking of the babylon rouge's, I bet Jet's gonna feel a bit empty now that sonic's been disqualified, because what's a racer without his rival, his competition, and what would be the point of his victory?
I reckon by the time the fact that the boards got sabotaged gets exposed, but less likely along with whoever sabotaged it, it might not be enough to get them back into the race as it would've gone too far by that point and it would invalidate the whole thing. I suppose a work around would be if some of the racers forfeited and gave their places to team sonic, in other words, substitution
If the fans hated Lanolin before, they're going to hate it even more with this issue.

While I can tell that Whisper shows some concerns with her facial expression when she took off her mask and at the very least stopped the boards from doing any more harm, she should've said something as well. seems like issue 64 affected her so much, making her feel that she was "wrong" and Lanolin was "right". PLEASE don't ruin Whisper and PLEASE have her get back on Mimic's trail

It will be fun to see Eggman play a role in stopping Clean Sweep and show Clutch who the real villain is, also Eggman can rock a purple suit. I can't wait to see Tails and Amy uncover the truth and try to bring down Clutch. I can't wait to see the day Clean Sweep plans crumbles and falls. Nice review!!!
It’s interesting to me that they decided to reveal who the Phantom Rider was right of the bat. I mean I know most people found out who it was immediately, but for all we know they could have added a whole new character. Maybe an has some kind of control over the suit, mind control or otherwise and that will be the turning point.
BTW: Surge does look great with her hair down and kit looks great in his fort.
I think Eggman wants to know who the leader of clean sweep is, so he can most likely carpet bomb them or capture them to work for him instead to have unlimited supply of his tech & out of reach from others. That and teach them a lesson for making that joke on him.
Now what is His cost in it? Helping Team Sonic find out who is behind it & put a stop to it before they can even be a threat to both Sonic & Eggman like how Dr.Starline was. Last thing Eggman needs is another villain trying to take over the world instead of him, and Klutch did seem at first interested in doing so with enough resources.
Issue #69 is already nice. But then it’s a Sonic Riders themed #69 issue. Now that’s NICE. Eggman trying to bring down an organization Beacuse they made a parady of him is funny asf.
one thing i think the writers are cooking is that they're gonna make parallels with Lanolin and Dr Starline both were inspired by two respective people they looked up to(Starline with Eggman, Lanolin with Sonic) and leads to them joining their team but grows frustrated and tired at how their heroes usual methods of fighting both sides and attempts to "fix" how it should be done but this leads to both of them falling into the same cycle as the people they looked up so much and Starline serve as a cautionary tale for Lanolin if she continued to disregard her friends and went on a path
another thing that i don't see many people discussing or mentioning either on CZcams or Tumblr is that Adam Bryce Thomas(Lanolin's creator) implied on his twt that Lanolin's strict no nonsense and jerkish attitude came from her controlling and overbearing mother which might not be 100% canon but it does make me sympathize with her

I was somewhat similar; but only for Sonic, and only because he seemed to care more about Eggman and Metal Sonic's freedom than the lives of everyone else. I mean, seriously! I was thinking "Sonic, do Tails and Amy have to be killed by one of the villains for you to see sense?!". Thankfully, he's not like that anymore.

*Perfect Chaos Cola is such a great call back to SA2 and Archie, as well as a good substitute for what is supposed to be alcohol.* I notice it a couple of issues back, but just now mentioned it. Good call by the writing team.

I'm actually glad when Tangle spoke up to Lanolin when she was being cold towards Team Sonic, like someone was actually calling the sheep out. plus, their disqualification was undeserved, considering that they were cheated out
Oh boy this chapter didn't help the fan hate with Lanolin at all.
Frankly, I don’t hate Lanolin the Sheep as a character, but I am not a fan of how she has been written. Hopefully, she will learn from her leadership mistakes once the fiasco clears up and becomes a better leader and ally.

She was a bit harsh, but Sonic and his friends were still on the track.
They were in danger of themselves and the racers around them.
@@BrakSplashbut Lanolin should have been more open to other factors that might have contributed to the faulty gears, I mean Tails doesn't do a sloppy job with machine, not to talk of race gears and like Amy clarified, hers wasn't built by Tails which should have raised some brows but what do I know? We'll just wait and see but she sure is gonna have it coming to bite her in the butt

We can clearly tell it was tampered with because we're reading the comic.
Lanolin just saw Sonic Tails and Amy lose control of their boards.
And like a normal referee told them to leave the racetrack before they or anyone else got hurt.
If you want to complain, complain to Jewel. She is the leader of Restoration, she not only let Mimic fool her, but let Surge and Kit join Restoration.
And let Clutch almost do what he wants, such as walk in Restoration anytime he wants.
But let's blame the Sheep who's just doing her job 😅
I hope SEGA gets ideas for a remake of Sonic Riders for the new consoles with Surge and Kit as playable characters.

This is my first time jumping back into the series in about a year and I loved it, can’t wait for the rest of this story
A good issue, makes up for the the loafing around and artificial drama of the previous stories. While its the likely course Clutch and Clean Sweep will be found out to be the bad guys by everyone, they could take it in a unexpected direction and he actually does win and control restoration HQ, making it something else completely. Restoration is never mentioned in Frontiers, so maybe this is their way of writing the Restoration out for future arcs.

Jewel and the Restoration are mentioned by Tails in the 6th episode of TailsTube on the official Sonic the Hedgehog CZcams channel. I think it’s likely the Restoration will still be around in some capacity

clean sweep feels like if in resident evil a group was formed that literally cleaned up all the monstrosities left hanging in each game(like if ada wong was revealed to be working for that company or in another sega/capcom comic crossover she teamed up with clutch/jewel.:3).
really love it feeling like a testing for a riders sequel(eggman wearing that dapper suit would be cool.),lanolin does show some points for not tolerating cheating though like with silver she should've done more questioning of sabotage/needs to cool it when even tangles right chewing her out & love they brought amy defending tails from the rogues being jerks back .

I’m excited for more because seeing Sonic with skills in racing is always a treat, and I love Eggman Tech when it’s being used for good.
I’m hoping eventually Lanolin makes up for some stuff so she’s not getting as much hate from people. (Like if she notices a blue quill on the phantom rider but turns a blind eye after reflecting on herself)
And man I can’t wait to see Clutch get into trouble, while Surge has to watch her back given the warning from earlier. But I wonder what heroes in the past were there to handle Clutch?

Wow, and here I thought the Diamond Cutters were going to participate in the race, but they're judges instead - at least, I wanted Tangle to be a fellow competitor. Lanolin is giving me some strange vibes of not giving a damn about anything and it's rubbing a bit on Whisper too - this can be the start of the end of her relationship with Tangle. Tangle noticed something was wrong, but she couldn't do anything because the team might still see her as a rookie and she didn't want to cause trouble herself, so she was forced to agree with the group.
Surge did not like Clutch's plan, and I kind of respect that - she and Kit should've given a chance to prove their skills in a fair race against Sonic and Tails; and maybe she could've gotten the chance to see more of the dynamic between Sonic and Jet as rivals. As for Eggman, I want to know where did he got that outfit; and him helping the heroes is not so far-fetch considering his previous records in the games after the Classic Era.
So far, I was able to identify the following EX-Gears for each main racer (correct me if I made a mistake in someone):
- Sonic: a modified Riders Blue Star I
- Tails: a modified Riders Yellow Tail
- Amy: Riders Pink Rose
- Jet: Riders Type-J
- Wave: Riders Type-W
- Storm: Riders Type-S
- Tangle: Riders Grinder
- Whisper: Zero Gravity Angel-Devil
- Lanolin: Riders Heavy Bike
- Mimic: Zero Gravity Omnitempus (fitting, considering his previous EX-Gear in the Tangle & Whisper mini-series)
- Surge: Riders Hang-On, with different color
- Kitsunami: Riders Cover-F
Did anyone find other EX-Gears during the race? I saw Tails mentioning the yatch EX-Gear model from Zero Gravity and the Accelovice company from Free Riders.
So, the so called Phantom Rider is just a persona created by Sonic - this is giving me more ideas for a possible new Riders game. Imagine a Time Attack mode where you can race against the Phantom Rider, and completing his race times would unlock him as a playable character. And this is just part 1 of the arc, I can't wait to see more ideas that can come up from this arc that could be implemented in a new Riders game.
Wait a second, I'm starting to remember something presented in the mini-series Imposter Syndrome, along with your review of issue 67: Clutch is basically doing Starline's "Operation: Remaster" - by replacing the heroes and the Restoration's operations through Clean Sweep Inc. public image, Clutch will be able to change society's view on the Restoration, while keeping his villainous side hidden, gaining access to its many resources through the hostile takeover.
I suppose Lanolin's influence IS rubbing off a bit on Whisper, given that Whisper didn't actually speak up (in fact she had no speaking lines at all in that issue) I guess the events of issue 64 in which she was "proven wrong" took a toll on her. fortunately, not completely, since she had the common sense to be weary of Surge and wasn't fooled. still, surely Whisper could speak up to Lanolin at one point
The way I see it, Similarly to Starline Lanolin holds the heroes in such a Hugh regard she's shocked they don't act the way SHE thinks they should act and also much like Starline she's going to learn the hardway that Mindset could get her killed
imagine if Tangle actually called her out for that when/if she stands up to Lanolin and her bossiness and callousness
It was a fun chapter. I enjoyed it a lot
On one hand, this is an interesting story beat that I never saw coming. On the other hand, it's too early into the Clean Sweep Inc takeover to have a major wrench thrown in so I thought the same as everyone else seems to. Sonic working with Eggman in a non-dire situation, especially if it's framed as "because he lost a race", is going to ruin his reputation majorly.
And Lanolin will have made it all possible, all because she thinks being a leader/referee is all about kicking people to the floor and stomping on them. Clutch has basically tricked her into becoming his myrmidon as a result.

Alas, Lanolin's lack of experience and foresight, coupled with her single mindedness and lack of flexibility has dropped her right into it. although Lanolin doesn't usually LITERALLY kick people to the floor and NEVER LITERALLY stomps on them. While I hope she learns her lesson when she finds out, this kind of comeuppance will have to come down on her like a ton of bricks
@@user-tq4hw2hb2j Well, she hasn't been in the spotlight until recently. All we knew about her initially was that she's hard working and crabby. When she finally got to be a major in Urban Warfare, we learn of her relatively humble beginnings; but she still didn't get much focus. Now; her acting like she knows better, thinking she needs to be a stereotypical mean drill sergeant to be a leader, and failing to see her teammates and allies as friends has become her defining character. People will remember her for this.

My family got this issue for me as an early birthday gift! After watching this video, it was totally worth it. Also, Surge's loose hairstyle looks SO CUTE!!
As someone who's just completed a business degree yes in the right ball park.
Often new leaders can have sinister intentions. Whilst I won't go too in depth for spoilers, so far this architecture has been a good story for kids to learn about the dark arts in business
I got to say it’s good to see Rider related stuff after so long. Plus all the IDW characters new rider gear are straight fire. I especially love that Tangle decided to choice of Ex-Gear were the hover-shoes instead of the standard board. I think it fits her style I wonder if she was inspired by Shadow’s shoes. Look at them and said “Yeah I like that. Imma need that my brothernem.” Also Lanolin looks is rocking that bodysuit/catsuit/jumpsuit…whatever the right term is. Almost wish that was her default outfit. It kind of remind me of Rouge’s suit in Heroes, anyone get the same vibes?
Speaking Lanolin, I am just going to say this. Y’all really need to calm down on this Sheep hate. Fr some of y’all are gassing this for no reason. The girl is just doing her job. She’s a referee and that what they do. It’s no big deal. Sure I can understand the issue with Silver giving her a bad look. But that’s just how imposter storylines goes. That’s 101 for that type of story. Mind you Mimic and Clutch are playing EVERYONE. Got everyone fooled including Jewel and Tangle. So I don’t get why y’all are cheering for Lanolin downfall. It is but it's out of necessity, him revealing himself would make things worse and put people against him. Also might be a reference to that one time in Archie Sonic took up a ninja alter ego for a little bit.

The Comic series is getting interesting for the first time in a while (not counting the miniseries, I like 90% of them) but this comic is proof that IDW needs to stop adding new heroes.

It’s been a while but from what I remember of NASCAR if something goes wrong with the car you go to the pit stop and if they can fix it you can go again. Seems weird that’s not a rule here or at least letting the riders with malfunctioning extreme gear use a different one in the next race.
Also I thought it was funny how much Twitter freaked out over Surge with her hair down when we have already seen it.
I can possibly see a 3rd EX factor in the Babylon Rogues. Given back in Issue 66 that Clutch used the Rogues as a distraction, while the Rogues had their skills wasted, along with the Pride, and Equipment (not to mention Jet's ego) damage, if they didn't know Clutch CleanSweap Inc, but what revenge on him for wasting their time, I can see the Rogues going after him too

I like the sense of fun for most of this issue, giving the Sonic Riders thrill. However, I began to think that Lanolin’s coldness and bossiness to everybody has gotten too far and has got to stop. I’m a bit concerned that Lanolin’s attitude will spiral out of control and hope that she’ll learn to tone it down and become a better leader and ally. Once this fiasco clears up, I hope that the New Diamond Cutters will be able to recover with the leader having character development.

I know this is semantics but aren't the Babylon Rogues know thieve's? why would they be invited to a big event and not just arrested on site? I understand fans like them but writer decisions like this really take me out of the world building.

Yes we the reader understand that Clutch is working behind the scenes to dismantle the restoration which would in turn hurt the world. But Sonic and his team don't have enough information to put that together, they just know somethings up.
When they know the world is at stake sure team up with Eggman I can understand that. But teaming up just because Sonic was wrongfully disqualified? is kinda irresponsible. They should attempt to arrest Eggman on site.
We’re finally back and things are getting interesting already with this Second Official Arc of this New Saga, the Question is though will this Arc be the Main Event for the Saga or will that be later down the line, I kind of hope for the later.
Anyway, I will look forward to see how this Arc turns out and what it will mean for the Saga,
As for the X-Factors, yeah i agree with what you said about Surge and Kit, heck i didn’t really need this Issue to think that their inclusion might end up being a mistake on Clutch’s Part, since when considering what they both have been through, saying that i didn’t really buy Surge just trusting Clutch would be a understatement,
By the way, I have been curious about Surge in particular ever since Issue #67, so will have my eyes focused on her especially throughout this Saga.
There are rumors that IDW might lose their licenses. I hope that's a lie, if not they need to do something quick to the sonic comics so they can start selling better. TMNT is the only High seller for them

no I am saying that cause Sonic is still a chaotic force. and I mean that in a good way. Chaotic Good. Taht is not to say he is unpredictble, he is reckless and many times just goes with the flow.
but
becauase he has that attitude he seemingly always adapt anyway. Its not that he does everything he can just so he can win, its more that goes with teh flow and finds the solution. In this case becoming the Phantom Rider is just that. Its a double edge sword that is just so much Sonic. After all, if his identity were to get out, that would make Sonic look bad in the Good Image, yet at the same time people with a good mind would realize Sonic does nothing For The Lutz, he does things his way.
And that is also another reason why Lanolin is flawed. She is trying to be Order. Note here that I am not demanding she will be chaotic and everything will be better that way. But becuase she is so orderly she acts like there are no solutions to anything else then that. And that makes her easy to manipualte, just as Clean Sweep are doing. What she needs is to realise and see that while Sonic and Team will always be reckless, they are never one for distrubting Order. And once that is made clear, Clean Sweep will lose thier focus.
Thier buisness deal made be needed for a greater good yes. But, Jewel and the rest must never forget why they got created not why they are here.
For even if Sonic is Chaotic Good, Egmman will always be Chaotic Evil. And if that Evil always exist, then a buisness will never clear things up.
Eh, Eggman's more so Neutral Evil with Chaotic Evil tendencies; though, that arguably makes him more dangerous.

Sorry, but Im skipping this arc as well. I don't Belle anywhere, and I still don't care for Lanolin at all! ANd to be honest I am NOT a fan of Sonic Riders.
I saw her on one of the covers for Issue 71, and everyone else that appeared on the cover already appeared in this issue. So, it may be worth checking it out.
