New Cars Nobody Wants in 2024

  • After years of limited supply and rapid turnover, new cars are now languishing on dealer lots. The average new car sells in 54 days, while new EVs take 70.6 days and new hybrids sell in 49.5 days, according to a recent study by iSeeCars.
The analysis 463,000 new and used car sales between October 2023 and March 2024 found a 21.6 percent slowdown in average days on market for new cars compared to a 30.5 percent increase for used cars. The study also identified which automakers had the fastest- and slowest-selling new and used cars.
“Between the gradual drop in new car pricing and consistent slow-down in their sales pace, it’s like watching a giant machine slowly wind down,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst. “New cars are still more expensive than before Covid, and they’re still selling at a reasonable rate, but the pendulum has clearly swung the other direction.”

I miss the old Jeep Cherokee box design from the late 90s early 2000 era. Put that 4.0 litre tank of an engine back into it and it would be the fastest selling vehicle on the market.

For sure. My rule of thumb back in the day was if an engine was designed in the 1960’s and lived through to the 90’s or early 2000’s then it was a good engine

It’s been on public news, also the guys on Car Edge, Zack & his dad were also talking about faked MPG claims made by not only Toyota, Nissan, even Honda was mentioned. Hell the CEO of Toyota was talking about stepping down. I’m old enough to remember when seeing a foreign made vehicle on the streets in the USA was unusual. The most numerous when I was a teen were VW bugs & they were so limited on top end people mostly drove them in town.

This is perplexing for the largest auto maker in the world (Toyota) to shy away from satisfying their customers needs.

Every vehicle on you two lists have major problems. Software to engines. Then. Cost to repair. The Jeep. There is no way right now you even want to trust it. Extreme problems. My guess who is buying up the expensive ones. The only ones in America that have money and others have said it in Washington State. Illegal immigrants. Toyota had metal fillings in it's new engines. Recall on them. Yet. Known for the longest lasting engine. Both lists. Personally. What other channels are proving. I wouldn't buy. From price to problems.

Everyone lumps EV’s as if they’re all made the same. I think 99% are cheap copycats poorly built and designed thrown together junk. There’s only one that’s worth the price and we all know what that is. I’m tired of having 19 oil burner engines on the farm that need soooo much attention . All my electric motors work forever very little issues. I cannot wait for better EV adoption.

I'll ride a bicycle or get a horse and buggy before I EVER buy an EV. NO bureaucrat or un elected person - OR elected person - who gets paid money to study "the climate" and determines that anything that has been happening throughout the history of this planet is changing one iota because of computable engines - again, for a nice sum of money, is ever going to dictate what I purchase and drive. We've only had "recorded" climate data for a few years (in relative terms) but we're going to change everything for a HUGE amount of money to bring down the temperature ONE degree in fifty years (totally unproven that it will have ANY effect anyhow). Whoever's running the world knows how STUPID most of the sheep in the world have become. That, other than the "small, but succinct" little detail of them being literally impossible to sustain is the reason why. LOL. It's the summer of 2024, and they're telling people to "conserve the usage of air conditioners" to avoid rolling brown outs or even black outs, but we have enough electricity to power tens of millions of EVs in six years? Mkay.

I will never buy an EV! I will not drive one if someone pays me. They are trash and they destroy the planet.
