as far as i know, the OG Dev Team who made The Witcher, left after the last DLC in 2016. CDPR hired a new Team for Cyberpunk. This is basically a Mass Effect Andromeda Situation, where the game was made by a D Team.

That was the one thing I'm disappointed Joe didn't say anything about. They straight up lied about so much shit in their marketing. If it were EA, he'd be all over it. But at least he gave it a proper score, instead of like many other 'influencers' giving it a 10/10 masterpiece rating, probably hoping they get a bit scene too.
@@mandu9520 marketing deparments generally just lie most of the time to please investors and sell as many copies. Most of the time to the expense of devs warning them about the deadlines etc... i worked in marketing departments and advertising and this was my experience most of the time.

The whole Cyberpunk 2077 situation can basically summed up with "I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed."
At least there’s still the Cyberpunk 2024 board game to play. There’s also many other sci-fi, cyberpunk games that are much better in my opinion. I recommend Ruiner and Ghostrunner. The Ascent looks pretty cool too. It least those games work and are much cheaper.

The biggest sin was the cut content on the life paths.
And the blatantly cut dialogues. It honestly feels like none of your choices matter except in 2 missions in the whole game.

They'll have voice lines for both male & female main character covering all bases, then decide later if said rom choice is said sexuality later on.

I keep coming back to this, and when Joe said "end of march, none of this had happened" i died of laughter, this game needed at least 3 years more time to be finished LMAO. "Coming when it's ready" -CDPR
At least they update it. After patch 1.5 the series x port is playable. There is slowdowns in the densely populated places but it is nothing major. First time playing through, but I bought it at launch. Did not refund.
I'd say on the current patch it's a very good game. However it took them a year and 9 months just to get to the point where the game is worth playing.
True, even with all the patches after 1 or two years the game is still not even NEAR to what was promised. The game is now just good enough to justify buying it but other then that, it's still a slightly above average game. A shadow to what was promised. I rather play RDR2 or GOT then this.

@@boi9842Well story of tlou2 sux balls and 2077 sux at every inch of technical issues. I dont want to play tlou2 bec story sux, I don't want to play 2077 bec I run into bugs and have to reload goddamned every 5 min. So the rating doesn't conflict from each other.
The parts with the inhaler and disco balls really got me, this was one of the funnier reviews in a while! I really felt ya on the closing words, this was a tough game to get through at times.
CDPR should have left the principal's office blury, T posing, glitching and backward to reflect the state of the game.
And flying out of the ceiling into space
They should have came in the office in a wheel chair and ran out and kneeled on the ground until they vanished.

Got to say I don't get the hate. I haven't quite finished the game, but I'm loving it. It hasn't crashed or frozen on me once. There has been the occasional visual glitch, but nothing major. CD projekt red created another incredible immersive world to explore. Of course I have been playing on PC, and If your not, you have no one but yourself to blame.

@@Mattress1996 I've been playing it on PS4 Pro and I'm 25 hr in and have seen maybe 5 bugs. The biggest issue I have is a slow loading menu and sometimes I cannot tag people I see via ping.
I think I'm in the top 99.99% when it comes to bug experience, if I hadn't seen reviews I'd not know there was much of an issue. It's no buggier for me than your standard open world game (so huge there's bound to be something).
Hence the lack of features do stand out a bit - rubbish customisation, cars being identical in handling, slightly shallow conversation trees (I miss Mass Effect 1....), Some side missions are AMAZING but many are meh. It doesn't feel as open world as Skyrim or Fallout - but I guess it's less about discovering isolated areas than they are.
It's 80% the game I expected it to be. I'd hoped for the "Skyrim with guns" feel and it's not quite there. It's different, which doesn't mean worse. But I am very very lucky with my experience I think.
Thats the sad part. Especially those third person cutscenes. Damn

@@ZeonEons Maybe the result of the company being now a public one (owned by shared holders) since 2018? I'm guessing the main reason they didn't push back the release of the game is because if the game released in 2021 instead of 2020, they would have been forced to offer the possibility to refund the game (because the engagement of the preorder is tightened to the game being released in 2020. They would have broken that.), and I believe they had at that point 8 millions of preorders, they didn't want to take that risk and choose the no man sky strategy (which paid off in the end.) to release an unfinished game and ask for forgiveness afterward.
Now they have the money (they made already at least 100% of profits), so you could say they did the right call. But they lost their credibility, so...was it worth it?
In the short term, yes. But in long term? My answer would be : When companies are public, long term doesn't exist anymore, share holders just want short term revenue, they rip as much revenue as they can and if it smells funny they move their money elsewhere. They don't want a company to take long terme decisions to preserve its longevity at the cost of profits, they prefer to let the company die as long as they get maximum money in the meantime, because they can place their money into a more profitable company at anytime.

Short term profits (pre-orders) and on day purchases through physical & digital. Roughly 13-14mill copies sold. Not sure on how many refunds were issued but they did state they lost the Christmas sales market by a wide margin of projected sales.

I love how he talked about halo infinite being delayed at the time, as if that was a good thing. Sure, delaying it could only have been good but the game was still dogshit at launch and still is to this day that nobody is playing it.
That said, no amount of delays could have saved cyberpunk, 2 years after launch and the game still isn't even close to what we were promised, it's just a bog-standard action adventure game with light rpg elements sprinkled in, and now (thankfully) has way less bugs and glitches than it used to. But even 2 years on, it still has a lot of bugs compared to other games...
Lots of people are playing infinite, not what it could of been, but definitely forge and other game modes brought a lot of players

I mean I still think what's there plus the constant updates makes the game worth it now, even if it isn't 100% glitch less. I think what Rowe here was getting at was the cultural resurgence the game had after edgerunners. It might not be as functional as it should be, but my word did that anime really show why this game and more importantly this series from Mike Pondsmith is truly astonishing and deserves attention. Your guys' criticisms are completely valid, but I think the game and the developers of the game deserve a little more credit nowadays, although I agree we shouldn't let them forget this fuck up.

The logic behind this is most people do not finish witcher 3 story. So they cut content so everyone could finish the cyberpunk 2077 main story. this is why Developer should not follow steam statistic to research a game. Dev should think how it will be received by game reviewer instead, since it will drive more positive review..

With the exception of the graphics and the city design, the game shines only in the story and music department (not even those are actually _that_ breathtaking though, just really good, but that's the kind of quality I'd expect from any AAA publisher), with all the other elements being okay at best and downright twenty years behind at worst.

I agree. I remember that a few years ago, if someone said to never pre-order a game, the top reply would be "The only exception is Cyberpunk 2077. CDProjektRed will never betray their fans." And look at where we are now.
What blows my mind is people still treat this company like God's. Like they can do no wrong. Defending them for every shady thing they have done and giving very bad justifications to the state of this game. It's crazy. Like why are you treating a company like they are your friend.
