  • 2 part series on this transmission. In this video, i go over a no reverse condition, these transmissions are known for runaway line pressure. Usually when this happens you lose reverse and with the high line pressure it breaks the case lugs as well. On earlier models the diode has been updated as well as the snapring that holds the diode in the case, the latest update from ford on the diode is over 400 and it should be installed. Next week the video will be on cleaning the solenoids. Happy Easter to all. Thanks for watching

    I have a 2010 5r110w trans. at it take time to shift in rev. there is no slippage and the oil and pan was pretty cleaned. I opened the trans. and nothing is broken and everything looks good. I only have 12000 km on it but I use it to plow snow.

      how is the engagement into drive and how does it upshift?

      @@GaryFerraro Ok I just finished changing all the seals even the low / rev. seal. As well I switched the shift solenoid valves low / rev. with intermediate shift solenoid valve. I plowed with the truck and everything works good. Now I went for a ride on the road It feels ok but if I look at the rpm gauge it goes up when shifting up. So now I will go buy a new shift low / rev. solenoid and try it. I'll let you know what happens after that.

      Ok I cancelled the shift solenoid. I took the pan out and cleaned both solenoid with mineral spirit and switched them again. The rpm is high shifting and reverse works good. I check my repair manual and it say's after the battery has been disconnected, the module will have to relearn the shift pattern. So I went for a ride and it's better. I still don't know what was wrong but it works now. Thank and I like your site.

    Thank you. I’m about to take mine in for this exact problem. What’s a good guess for the cost of this job ? A rough estimate would be much appreciated.

      If you have no reverse, there is a good chance the case is broken, if it is, I recommend a transgo shift kit. Part of the shift kit is changing the pressure regulator valve which means taking the pump apart, special tools are needed to line the pump up. Also clean the bellhousing where it meets the engine block, if there is a plate, take the plate off and clean that, clean the engine block as well, all mating surfaces, if the case is bad(lugs probably broke off) the whole job with installation could run about 3700.00 Also run an extra ground from the transmission case to chassis. If your going to do this, there is a certain way to fill this trans, the pump is a high volume pump.

    Hello good morning. I have a 2008 F450 pickup with that model of transmission. the changes it does apparently well. but it has no reverse. The strange thing is that when I put it in neutral, the engine with the transmission does not release. It even walks forward while in neutral. The transmission was working fine until it started with a failure of selenoid B, which is the overdrive selenoid, but it was driven like this for about 650 miles and when it came out from below we realized that the plug was simply loose, we put it back and poured the oil and well, we have the problem that I mentioned at the beginning. Do you have any idea what it could be?

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  Před rokem +1

      If this moves forward in Neutral then a clutch pack is locked together and will not release

    2003 4L60E new frictions, steels, sonnax pwm, all new bushings. Converter only locks up when it’s cold, when the trans warms up it falls out of lockup, and will no longer engage. What could it be?

    • @GaryFerraro

      What do you mean by sonnax pwm? Is that a valve?. what solenoids did you change?

    • @jamiepatrone834

      sonnax regulater and isolater valve and sleeve kit is what I meant. I replaced the tcc solenoid as well as the pulse width modulation solenoid. It has a p0894 code present. When the tcc engages it thumps then disengages.

      Dex 3 is fine, you should take the car out on the parkway for a ride, if th converter is sipping, this is when a code will set, what do you see when you say it falls out of lock-up
