    that was a great video on real world shooting and low light performance which is always a talking point on crop-sensor cameras. I have the sony 50mm cuz it's cheap and has stabilization.
    One thing you didn't touch on is how amazingly small the Sony 35 is compared to the sigma. It doesn't dwarf the camera. It's super important considering people buy crop sensor cameras for their portability and their looks.

    The Sigma 30mm f/2.8 hunts like crazy for video, it does find focus easily, but you can tell it constantly tries to keep focus and it is very noticeable compared to the Sony and Sigma 1.4. the 30mm f/2.8 Sigma is pretty much good for photos only, and manual focus video. It IS sharp, but struggles to "lock" on a subject in video. You can buy the f/2.8 for dirt cheap, might be a good B camera lens to have in a pinch

    I decided on the Sony 35mm over the Sigma 30mm for two reasons. I have not verified these problems myself, only from online reviews, so YMMV. First, the Sigma autofocus reputedly had problems early on and was improved, but not entirely fixed, with a firmware update. Second, the autofocus motor noise was reported to be too loud and would show up in video, even when using a camera-mounted shotgun mic. Do you have an opinion on these issues, Danny? BTW, I have the Sigma 16mm and love it!

      I loved the Sigma 30mm F1.4 it was so sharp. I honestly miss it for portraits. I sold it for the Sony 35mm 1.8 because I shoot a lot of video & own the a6300. & I really needed the lens stabilization

      @@cj64films HEY!!!! Exactly my setup (6300) and was thinking to buy the Sony, too, just for the OSS.
      ARE YOU HAPPY with it? Happier then with the Sigma?
      Please answer. IT WOULD HELP ME A LOT!

      I’m very happy with it! It’s still a pretty sharp lens. Not as sharp as the sigma but for video it’s a life saver. Below is a short film I shot myself & primary used the 35mm F1.8 m.czcams.com/video/g2Ly66Jh_9o/video.html

      I just returned a Sigma 30 F1.4. My little 30 F2.8 Art is much sharper, has a much flatter focus plane, and less distortion and aberrations.

    This video is pointless. Whoever wants to buy this lenses already knows this kind of stuffs. How about sharpness comparison? What about show us which is better to shot fast moving subjects like dogs? OSS + native lens af vs sigma 30 f1.4 af? What about bokeh quality? Or contrast? No one use this lenses to shot some pointless things in a dark room. Be real and be informative. This video just a clickbait.

    • @SocietateaAscendenta
      @SocietateaAscendenta Před 5 lety +4

      There is someone who missed the points.
      NOT EVERY video has to be about contrast, sharpness and shit.
      The guy made some good points about OSS vs NO OSS, if you shoot at night - what use is 1.4 if you get shaky videos or blurred photos and have to go some stops higher or use different shutter, to compensate the lack of OSS and get, more or less, the same results,
      IF YOU ARE not using a tripod all the time (and, btw, WHO does that, while walking with your girl through a city, at night?)?
