Whenever I was looking for sony E-mount lenses, I got surprised Arthur already covered them. His reviews are not just reading product specs nor throwing random personal opinions. It's really well sorted information I can take advantage of. I really thank him.

What a great, practical discussion of this trio and how they can make a great kit. Congratulations on the birth of your son! While the technical aspects of the images you showed are interesting and important, their value is in the family memories that will be priceless in the years to come. Make sure they are stored and labeled in ways that your grandchildren will know what they are!

I've had all three of these lenses for a year now. And I love them! I checked to see how much I use each of them. Of the pictures I've imported to Lightroom 82% is taken with the 30mm, 11% with the 56mm and 7% with the 16mm.

Loved the video. Thanks for including us in some of your family time.
You forget that there is very apparent distortion between the lenses which is even more important than addressing the bokeh. The 16mm is not flattering at all for portraits because of the distortion. The question should be what types of pictures do you want to take? 16mm great for landscape and group shots. 30mm is a great all around lens. 56mm is best for portraits because the face looks more natural as it would to the naked eye. There is a crop factor involved but that only affects the crop and not the distortion.
Big fan. I've learned a lot from your channel.
    Started w a 6000 then recently purchased a 6500. I own the 56 and the 30 plus the 19mm and 60mm sigmas.

Its so cool that you've stayed with the A6000, I have too and have found that camera to tremendously reliable. As a wedding shooter it my primary back-up to the A7III. Quite often it is a shot from that camera that makes it to the client. I use it with the Touit 32mm f1.8 and the E 18-105mm f4.

For travel, I like my Sony 18-135. I hate changing lenses when taking in the sights
I use the Sigma 16 on a tripod for videos when talking to camera on my channel. Very sharp. Nice colors. Perfect for that. Yes, external audio required if using autofocus
I really like the Sony 35mm and 50mm for pics of friends and family at parties, holidays, etc. Food pics. I don’t see the need to “upgrade” to lenses without OSS. Of course, if I had the a6500...

I owe you a big thank you. I recently purchased a Sony a6400 and based on your recommendation and review of the Sigma 16mm that’s the lens I got with it. All I can say is, amazing. I wish I could post pictures with this to show people the amazing shots I got with it on a moonless night in my backyard taking pictures of reflections off my pool with just what Ambient light there was reflecting off a thin cloud layer and the light coming through the windows of my house. At f /2.2 and iso 2500 and 4 sec.shutter if it wasn’t for the overly bright windows you would swear that picture was taken at high noon on a clear summer day. The pool has a fairly dark blue Pebble Tech bottom as opposed to a white plaster. Despite this you can easily make out the individual leaves of the trees around the pool in their reflections. In fact they are even green. Not only that but there is a very prominent shadow of the house in the reflection that you can’t tell is there with the naked eye. But even in this shadow the texture of the Pebble Tech is plainly visible. Of course I used a tripod but not the shutter delay, yet everything is very sharp and clear. My wife was not nearly as impressed as I was when I woke her up at 1:30 in the morning to show her this amazing photograph. I don’t know why..lol. I’m an Airline Pilot and I can’t wait for my next trip to Amsterdam and go roaming around. Thank you again for your excellent reviews q

Good video and very relevant for many a6x00 users. As a enthusiast photo dad i have been shooting with the a7rii with GM lenses the last years but since i added the a6500 with the sigma trio i shoot almost all my photos with the new setup. The new 56mm is just what was missing for the aps-c line. Image quality is great and you cant beat the compactness of this system. Give us a 16-55/70 2.8zoom now dear sony :)

So as of a few days ago I now have 2/3 of the these and couldn't be happier. Have had the 16 for several months and just got the 30 the other day. Took it to car show yesterday and love it. The 30 will be what is on my camera all the time except for landscapes and any real close ups. I have the Sony 50mm 1.8 already or I would get the 56. I wouldn't mind selling that and upgrading but I'm good for now. Totally agree with you on everything, these are the best options to keep with you and travel with.

Great reviews! I've owned the Sigma 30mm/f1.4 for a couple years now. Based largely on your excellent, easy-going reviews and some other factors, I recently bought the 16mm/f1.4 and love it. Today, I pulled the trigger on the 56mm/f1.4. I find your reviews line up exactly with mine, and that helps me to make buying decisions. While I have a few Sony lenses, my kit is going to be exactly like your recent travel kit...an A6000 with the Sigma trio. I absolutely love the quality and sharpness of Sigma lenses! If and when I can finally step up to a full-frame camera such as the A7iii, I'll buy the body only and likely fit Sigma lenses on it. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

First thing, as always thank you for the video. Second, without needing to be said but I will anyway you have a beautiful family. Third, I just put that Sony bag in my cart on Amazon. Fourth, my issue with the a6000 and using any lens let alone the 16 and 30 is the ability to keep resolution when cropping photos especially in low light even at 1.4. When I need low light I still reach for my D750 and primes. It handles noise so well. I would imagine it would be like using the a7iii. I WISH the a6000 could hold better resolution at low light without needing a tripod. In good light or OCF like I love using it is amazing.

I purchased the Sigma 16mm f1.4 for my Sony a6000. I find that it is an excellent overall lens. It is sharp, clear, and focuses well (but noisily!) I find the lens especially useful in low light scenarios. On two trips to Italy, the lens works wonders in the rather dark chapels, cathedrals, and duomos. In most of them, flash is not permitted and the Sony camera combined with the Sigma lens still produces excellent, well-lit shots. The lack of stabilization is an issue but with care you can still get some great shots with this combination.

I have and idea or something like that for a video, why not a comparison between all the sigma lens? All the APS-C, 16mm, 19mm, 30mm (1.4/2.8), 56mm and 60mm to see it performance in low light and the main point I'm interested, taking the same picture on a tripot just switching lens to have an idea in the difference of mm and it real point of view. You are the greatest A6000 owners Channel, I thing it would be a great video comparing all sigma lenses. I am wondering on getting the 16mm 1.4 and then getting the old sigma lenses in EBAY for 100 box or something like that to have a little kit for traveling. At the moment I'm owning my A6000 with the 16-50mm kit lens and a Neewer 35mm 1.7 that I pick up for 40 box on Amazon.

  • @keithspillett5298
    @keithspillett5298 Před 3 lety

Great stuff. I used to own the original three f/2.8 lenses in M43 mount. Strangely enough, the 30mm f/2.8 suffered similar focussing problems to the 30mm f/1.4. Again, the 60mm was the best, followed by the 19mm, with the 30mm lagging slightly behind. I must say that the 16mm and 56mm e mounts could well find their way into my current kit, although I own a 14mm Samyang which is stunningly sharp, but is manual focus so pretty slow to use.....

This Sigma trio is spot on from Sigma in terms of great, great value. I see another vacuum or opportunity for Sigma which is the 70-200 F4. Come out with similar quality and much cheaper like the trio which are well known for quality vs price, Sigma would have the Sony's APS-C market cornered towards them.

I think I'll be getting 16mm lens to go with my Sony a6400 with a zhiyun weebill lab gimbal to counteract the lack of ibis. BTW I subscribed 👍

As always great review. Just want to ask, does the "autofocus shortcomings" in the video will be addressed by the Sony a6400? Especially for stills shooting. Thanks in advance.

Super nice set for sure. I'd love to justify getting these but have the 28/2 and 50/1.8 FE lenses for ff so kinda hard to justify. Also, I hate being "that guy" swapping lenses constantly when I'm traveling which I'm totally guilty of. Can't wait for the rumored, fast, APS-C "kit lens". getting thes

Which lenses would you recommend for taking an outdoor scene (Landscape Photography), the Sigma 16mm or 30mm?

I have the A6000 and am considering one of these (not sure which one yet), as well as the 35mm Sony (for OSS) mostly for video use. Maybe I'll get 35mm and one of the sigmas. We'll see, great review!
