Irony is making a 11-minute video for adhds to listen and fully concentrate
Yeah he could do that a bit more suitable
I always see this comment for ADHD videos. When will it stop?
Eh, I actually appreciate longer videos. I feel the points can be flushed out better. (This only applies to videos I am interested in though. If this was a video on a boring subject I would agree with you.
Irony is making the damn intro a bunch of stuff moving around and expecting viewers to read a boring line of text 😂
I fast forward and then go back just incase I catch something interesting and must listen to more of it.
To sum up for adhd, 5hacks are
1. serotonin
2. to do & wish list
3. don't tolerate
4. theming (your days)
5. ask what make you hard
LOL! Ask what "is" hard!
Thanks for the recap. I know what you meant.
Lol my brain didn’t even register the blunder there in #5
I know I am kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to stream new series online ?
I think I get it...The dog food bag is all folded over, balled up, and scrunched up, inside of another container. It feels like a long huge task to undue it all to get to the food. Then reach for the scoop on the shelf. So I put off feeding the dog. (Don't worry, I'm not the primary feeder.) I FINALLY REALIZE how irritated I get EVERY single time. So, I neatly cut the top off the bag removing the excess. I tossed the scoop inside the bag, one can now lift the container lid, and easily access the dog food...sounds trivial but it made a difference.
You neatly summed up the "don't tolerate" part
I like themed days. Today was my "finish something you started" day
Awesome! Love it when people share what works for them.
thanks
4:05 "You need to shorten your to-do list". Take a quick look and pick 3 things. Make sure you see that list of 3 thing on paper and in your phone. Try to do these in this day, or at least this week.
Great point/idea.
@@AttentionTalkVideo I read that writing it down on paper will be memorized in another and better part of your brain than typing.
@@johnroekoek12345 Remember everyone is different. If that works for you GREAT. If it doesn't do just do it because the book says it.
@@AttentionTalkVideo Hi. Here I am again. 😀 Just discovered the BuJo. This is a bullet journal invented by Ryder Carroll. It's like you write a to-do list. But I guess you already heard of this. I just started this new year.
@@johnroekoek12345 fingers crossed that it is a game changer for you.
Thank you so much for sharing these hacks. I have a 13-yr with ADHD who struggles a lot and watching your videos give me a lot of in site into what he goes through and how to help him better express himself.
Excellent! That is what we are about about... helping others understand!
Love this! Just found your channel. I’m so grateful. Thank you!
Booya!
We are grateful for YOU Alison! Hope you'll try some brain hacks -- especially @attentiontalkvideo host Jeff Copper's powerful, "What's Hard?" hack.
My to do list is 5 tasks at a time and i give myself 10 minutes to get distracted and then focus for a task one at a time. Its hard but im practicing.
"practicing"... the key to building a skill!
This is a smart strategy, Serenity. You're acknowledging your distractible brain -- being AWARE that you are or will be distracted -- then diving into ONE task. Keep on practicing, as Jeff Copper says!
Thank you 😊
You're welcome
BRILLIANT!! thank you so much for this!!
You're very welcome!
I have wheat toast with butter, and sometimes with scrambled eggs, or even a precooked sausage microwaved for 30 seconds. Good protein!
Me... egg and precooked sausage!
@@shawnmendrek3544 Thx, definitely use real butter and not just a little!
Exactly!
booya
THANK YOU!!
You're welcome!
Thanks for commenting.
Wow, tolerations is a good one!! Hadn't thought of it that way.. And the theming!
it is a great brain hack!
theming will dissolve to procrastination and forgotten wishes
"theming" never heard of that before.
@@AttentionTalkVideo me either! Siri may need to explain that one! I’ve forgotten what I was trying to type.
@@nafawi7965 LMAO! That happens to me all the time.
Are they twins?
Wow you guys are awesome!!! So happy I stumbled upon you. Thanks for all the great information.
Subscribe... more content in the making!
I really appreciate this. I would love to hire a coach, but I can't afford it. I can't wait to try these tips.
you are welcome.
Good luck and thanks for tuning in.
hey some of these were great, I really love the 'what's hard' tip. I ALWAYS get down on myself for not doing these super easy tasks. What's hard about folding laundry while netflix bingeing? Idk man but apparently neither my partner or I (both ADHD) can do it so there must be something lol. Anyway, looking forward to implementing these. Thanks guys.
what is hard about folding laundry? isn't is self evident? it is boring. Consider watching my video on agitated boredom.
the trick is to combine tasks... fold laundry while watching netflicks... or reduce the steps (see video... procrastination tip #3 i think.
thanks of the post.
I like having fun & organizing; so the idea of theme days may spark that creativity & motivation. Is there another video on theming?
hmm... i don't have another video on that. Most just freestyle it.
I like the theme idea but the one before it about toleration it only explains what it is but what do you do about it?
you posted a similar comment on another video i did on motivation. Metaphorically the same response applies here.
I don’t understand the tolerations one. Can you please explain again
To me a toleration is either something you are putting up with to get something. Like I live in my dream home but tolerate that it is on a busy street. in this situation it is a nag but one by chose.
In the video it was more there is something you are putting with that you don't have to put up with if you exerted the energy to do something about it. Often those with ADHD are not aware of what they are tolerating but it is impacting you. The idea is to stop, notice, do something about it and move past it.
Hope that helps.
That's why i love hotels. You can basically eat what you need, right in the morning c:
I'm too lazy to translate the following..
Such a wholesome meal would be ideal to me. Just everything, just every morning, then i don't have to decide xD
LOL!
The subject is fascinating to me.. I spent half of my childhood in time out cz if my air head… school😂 Im laughing now but it was f up… but if one catches.. even at 45 like me.. its suuuuper cool
to understand n try to troubleshoot when possible.. be aware.. tackle it..
Tolerance? What is dis?😂
The hacks are a means to help you pause, be present and think! Hoping one works for you.
I get it now, I wondered what feels so familiar about the interview style....It's set up like a Sport's interview....lol
love it when people "get" it.
@@AttentionTalkVideo Question: Why does it seem like people with ADHD/disregulation seem to be so much more disagreeable and argumentative? How can I address this with my son and husband?
@@servantofthemosthigh8751 Simple question. I'm afraid the answer is complex. For many (not all) they reflexively react. That reflexive reaction happens so fast they are not aware of it. The real challenge is helping them become aware. If you point it out they often feel critized and reflexively get defensive even though you come in peace. As for addressing this... question is... are they looking or open to help or do they not want help... or think thing are find.
Does a protein shake count?
Yes!
CopyTalk sounds like what I used to call a tape recorder. Please tell us more.
I pay a flat fee a month. I call a number and dictate. It is recorded. A person then transcribes it (people are more intuitive than software) and emails it to me. I can dictate for 4 minutes and unlimited number of times a month. I love it. Learn more at copytalk.com. If you try it please use my name as a referal.
He didn’t explain the last one either just what it was..: I need solutions
One of my favorite questions to those with ADHD is... are you drowning in a sea of strategies? More often than not i get a resounding yes.
What works for you is as unique as a snow flake. What works for my might not work for you. That is why there are so many self help books. If one way worked there would only be on book. One organizational system.
What i've witnessed over the years is a problem solving mindset produces results.
I have a lot of respect for Alan Brown. If you know his story you know his success was a shift in mindset... he resisted the mindset for like a decade... then got it and now is thriving.
If you are looking for me to tell you what will work for you my channel probably isn't for you. If you want to build the mindset to problem solve then i can help. Most of my content is really about stepping out of yourself, becoming more self aware, and bringing clarity to things so you can address them more effectively based on your individual differences.
Vyvanse… 🎉 but even… I would need triple dose to barely ‘stabilize the focus’😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
not sure i understand your post... but... thanks for taking the time to make it.
An what about the severly depressed ADD person on no meds. Antidepressants cause dementia like reaction or like someone unplugged due to increase in serotonin an dopamine goes down an cognitive function declines.? Then a stimulant ups dopamine buts lowers serotonin an ur depressed at crash time. Severly. Add a sm dose of antidepressant ssri?
As an ADHD coach i can help many move forward however, if there is sever depression it inhibits some interventions. I really encourage you to speak to a mental health professional to manage the depression.
@@AttentionTalkVideo i see a psychiatrist. I have very slow metabolism. So alot of antidepressants become toxic or raise serotonin an lower dopamine an results in " dementia" like reaction or fatigue. Im newly dx ADD. So I realized alot of why treating my " issues" with antidepressants was causing reactions an being labeled " treatment resistant ". Dr Charles Parker videos helped me realize some things. Thankyou for replying. Im 50 an just now dx. It makes me think of all the things I didnt do or did do badly because of ADD symptoms.
Dr. Parker is great! I realize it is frustrating but keep the faith. Keep learning, becoming more aware, and experimenting with what works. It isn't easy but keep the faith... there is hope. Many have figured things out over time.
Why are they so close
That video was shot at a conference. Lighting was poor, needed Alan close for the mic (not to pick up background noise) and since he was tall (most people i interview are shorter) i had the camera stand too high.
no matter, the content is good. hope it was helpful
Why was I watching this? Oh well
cause you were foraging for information?
Why is this so long??
the video was shot long ago in our more formative years.
I feel justified in my choice to eat eggs every morning
Eggs and sausage for me too!
@@AttentionTalkVideo I usually eat scrambled eggs and naan bread but sometimes it's scrambled eggs and sausage or bacon. Non-work days I change it up with poached or boiled haha. Diversity!
@@cannabiskid booya!
Youre talking to adhd people and youre talking so fast, its hard to assimilate the info. Slow the heck down.
sorry... when i get excited i struggle to slow down. Thanks for commenting... reminders are always good.
I can concentrate better when it goes fast, myself..
There's an option to change the speed of videos nowadays =D
If you're gonna make a video for ADHD peeps, dont make it so boring.
sorry about that.
