- We usually do Top 10 videos but there were too many good Nightwish songs so we could not limit the list to just 10. This list is solely based on our personal preference and also we prefer Floor Jansen to Tarja Turunen or Anette Olzon.

Poet and the pendulum is the best nightwish opus in my opinion, not just for its brilliant music and lyrics but for the importance of that song in the bands history.

Heck, like my lifelong favourites the Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.)...a Nightwish top 10 is impossible for me to rank particularly as I had not heard of either Nightwish or Floor until some 6 months or so ago. That said, because it was the first Nightwish masterpiece that I listened to (live) my number 1 has got to be "The Poet and the Pendulum"... It blew my socks off and from that moment on I entered the Nightwish rabbit hole and haven't surfaced since eagerly soaking up everything Nightwish from the wonderful Tarja and Annette eras and now the incomparable Floor. My favourites from 2 down to 10 and beyond change on a daily basis such is the phenomenal depth and quality of the Nightwish catalogue best experienced live. 👍😊🙏
As been said, Poet and Petulum should be in top 3 with Ghost and Greatest show.

It's impossible to do top list of Nightwish songs they have for me about 60 awesome songs i can't rank :D If i have to only Ghost love score, poet and the pendulum and greatest show on earth are the one I can say that would be on the list. With other places it just depends on my current mood.
I find it odd that so many people exclude 7 Days to the Wolves. IMO, top 5 Nightwish Song, especially the Wembley performance. I would put it in with GSOE, GLS, Song of Myself and PATP - the longer tracks get higher ratings from me - epicness gets points... but Shoemaker is creeping up there.

No one will ever agree on this list, so many great songs and so many personal preferences - so thank you for offering yours up here! I would have Poet and 7 Days in my Top 5.... but my Top 5 would also have 15 songs in it!!!!😆
If it was my top 15. I would put poet and the pendulum and 7 days to the wolfs in it. But only in the Floor version. When the songs came out with Anette... (She's a great singer, don't get me wrong) but it didn't move me... The emotional impact with Floor is bigger. And off course yours is an empty hope, shudder before the beautiful, slaying the dreamer. But I think for the rest of it... My list would be similar to yours.
Considering Tuomas wrote most of these songs for Tarja you could t find one with her?
True. Most of the songs were from Tarja and Anette era. They had the best songs and albums. Floor really struggles with Tarja’s effortless high notes.

There's this great album called Oceanborn, you should check it out.
They did include Devil and the deep dark ocean, which is arguably the worst track on Oceanborn.

As great as Poet is, while I think it should be on the list, I don’t think I would have it in my top five. It’s not a song you can jam out to in your car or one you would listen to everyday. The story behind the song and the emotions that come with it is something you don’t want to re-live everyday. It has its place and time to listen to, but it is not like Storytime, Song of Myself, among others that pump you up, headbang, and feel good about the day.
It is funny you say that about Poet, which I agree you have a point, but I think that would equally apply to TGSOH.
tarja is the best but floor is great too
I totally disagree with this selection and order! Such is the depth of Nightwish work 1000000 people would come up with 1000000 different answers and each answer would be an equally valid assessment of THEIR journey with nightwish.

Might as well have been a top 20! Tribal, Poet & Pendulum, Shoemaker didn't even get honorable mentions? I see the focus on live performances however, and agree with your preference for the Valkyrie Goddess! I just joined "the Army"
It's a good list and I really respect your choices. I would have to think really hard before coming up with my own list, but I'm sure the Poet and the Pendulum and 7 Days to the Wolves would both be in there. I'm not sure why you left them out.

My personal favorite first place is Amaranth! It’s the first song I have ever heard as I can remember, Dark Passion Play is as old as me! The other ones are not really rankable, because all of Nightwish‘ Songs are very good!!! But if had to rank 'em I‘d go like that:

I have seen many others who have done a Top Ten or so List of Nightwish Songs. I did not agree with any of them.
This List is the first one, that makes sense. I would have put some of the songs higher, others lower, but in general I can clearly say: A very good Top 15 List.👍

Okay this is verry difficult because I have so many favourites but this is my top 15. I prefer mainly floor but their are a couple of them I love from tarja and a couple that I love from annete. I think nightwish as a band they are truly magic beyond human knowledge. 😅😁❤

planet hell with floor, don't fuck around, tarja sings it better.........., dark chest of wonder, definitely tarja, while your lips are still red I recorded it and sang it marko, although I would have liked to hear it with anette or tarja, (with piso no. sings ugly), the crow, the owl and the dove, it is definitely anette who sings it best, piso sings it reluctantly and with her orgasmic cries, without melody, I definitely count the time anette (floor singing the chorus nothing else), The islander anette and marko....Ghost love score, definitely tarja that ending to fried floor breaks my ears...poet and the pendulum with floor bores. ......anette sings it much better (the floor version is still toned down and marko's part seems to be growling instead of singing wildly like she did with anette)

Floor is great singer and everything, but there's no one that can top Tarja's versions from sleepring sun and nemo. Actually Tarja recommended Floor to be the next singer for Nightwish, before she left Nightwish.
And where is your proof of that?

I think Floor does Tarja songs better than Tarja. I think Annette is great with her songs and prefer her doing the songs on her two albums. All 3 of them are magnificent singers and I think Floor has the most overall talent. Nightwish "Greatest Hits" lists have the capability to extend to over 30 songs (which is why it would be difficult for them to put out an official greatest hits album that encompasses all 3 eras and make it fiscally reasonable for the consumer....but maybe in a limited edition release which, just like a Pink Floyd one, would be quite expensive).
Again, that's just my .02
This list is quite okay except for 2 things. 1) your Top 1 is totally out of place and 2) your mega error is that you have only Floor singing and almost only live. Where is Anette? Where is TARJA?? You can't just put all the songs THEY made famous with Floor on the vocals!
