- Hello and welcome to TUESDAY NEWSDAY! Your number one resource for the entire week's worth of VR news! I recently travelled down to Las Vegas for the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, basically where almost every company shows off their newest cutting edge electronics and VR had a MASSIVE presence! From HTC Vive's newest XR Elite, to Shiftall and their Flp VR and MeganeX to Pimax and their newest Portal and Crystal.. This year was really an awesome CES for the VR industry and I am glad to be able to show it to you all!

I made sure the audio was especially crispy this video after the last one. CES was amazing and it made me feel really excited about VR again for the coming year.. although it is looking pricey.. What do you think?

The audio is pretty crispy
Yep sounds back to normal 👍
If there was one flatscreen game you'd wanna see in vr what would it be?
Please answer my question idc if its in the next vid or not i've just been asking for so long

I know it's a prototype and bulky but i really love the aesthetic of the flip controllers. Look like controls straight out of a mech suit.
Yeah they’re pretty cool in their current state.
I want them for HOTAS use in flught sims with hand presence.
I NEEEEEEEED it to stay that bulky. O man they look so cool. Literally mech warrior becoming more real everyday 1 part at a time haha
@@EU-mf7sd the spring and metallic hinges make it look so good, if they cover those up I'm gonna be really mad
Imagine they add hand - Tracking via cameras in the Controllers when in the "flip - Mode" would be absolutely insane
Thank you Thrill for covering the 2023 Brad Event.
The best brad so far

This guy gets it
Lol
ThrillSeeker is always going above and beyond to provide us with all of the VR content and news that you could ever need. Thank you for all the work that you do!
Hey thank you so much!!! :D
Brad dose a far better job at this and actually knows what he talking about !!! Thrill is way too optimistic about everything new that he touches in VR lol, and only plays vr chat,,, i fell like every video is just like his '' future '' Vail vr shooter video, i hate how i search for ''vr news'' and Thrill , Matteo311 and Mysticle, are always is at the top all they do is click bait vr news with "awesome new update" or ''vr just got so much better'' no matter how many dislikes i give they always show in the feed and flood real vr news channels from people that are actual vr gamers and not just a vr chat furries or casual's

@@pLayChey, hey, i think i know why they keep getting recommended to you...
maybe idk stop clicking on them.... and maybe, stop commenting, y'know, like normal, no one is forcing you to watch them, yet you do anyway, just watch Brad if you like him better. see how easy that was!

BRILLIANT writing as usual.
Thank you!!! :)
Now this is a tech video I've been waiting for... CES is awesome, but this year, I'm all in on the VR scene. Thanks for all the info!
I'm always so excited to watch your videos! Can't wait for part 2!
I cant wait for the future of vr. There already getting insane day by day. So exited!
Yes omg like imagine in 2040 how vr is going to be💀, we are going to be in a different world of vr like almost realistic
Eye and face tracking bro 😭 vive pro eye is sold out, I’m still rocking my HTC vive
excited
The future of VR gaming I believe is still tethered VR. Stand alone cannot possibly provide good enough graphics to sell any "triple A" titles. I also doubt that inside out tracking will be realible enough.
For me that's no problem. Combine already existing ultralight ultracompact headset designs with a tether and we have a decent future ahead of us :)
What do you think of PSVR2?
I've watched a lot of coverage from other content creaters and they all seemed really positive.
Thanks for this thorough first batch of impressions. I gotta say the Pimax hype got me real good last year, I'm a bit disappointed by my Index since I can't wear it for more than one hour without getting eye strain so I was kind of betting the farm on the insane Crystal "12K blabla" edition. Happy to hear that it seems to be at least interesting and desserving of a closer look. Megane X is a bummer, don't remember a product getting so much worse in a year. But hey, what we need most of all are GAMES and APPS after all !
Hey thanks SonShani. Yeah I’ve been pretty pumped for the new Pimax headsets for a while but also really skeptical.
MeganeX is a massive bummer for sure though. Also yes I agree, GANES AND APPS!!
@@ThrillSeekerVR ganes 💪💪
@@ThrillSeekerVR Nah, still hardware IMO. VR will take off when HMD can replace monitors, in convenient form factor. Maybe also good passthrough system. When devs use VR HMD as an PC user interface, GANES will follow.
Standalone soon will be just an expensive feature hopefully - maybe modular.
curious why you have eye strain with the index, i usually need to go 5+ hours to feel anything in my eyes
@@sinity8068 Ah yes, GANES... Totally not Games.
yooo newsday, lets GOOOO
Man, your videos are just such a treat. I love your energy, your positivity, and just the massive amount of enthusiastically presented information you share with us.
Thanks, Thrill.
The back-heavy XR Elite is pretty good, would like more companies to start putting the hardware in the back end.
Surprise it took them this long to make that happen! But I suppose it makes sense for the wait. Itrequire technology to reach that point for the components to be small enough for it to be viable.
Finally, some good news, this does bring a tear to my eye
GJ Thrill
You are the man!! Sorry I missed you when you were at the Somnium Booth but I look forward to running into you again at some point! Great review! Keep doing what you love brother, you're great at it!
Great video, I was at CES for 3 days and your video made me realize just how much I still didn't get to see! I was honestly blown away by the Crystal. In my opinion it was the best headset in terms of visuals at CES. I did a night flight on the flight sim demo and it was amazing. The night sky was actually black, and I could see moonlight being cast on the mountains by the moon and the shadows it cast. I could also see all the little details on the surface of the moon. I then had them turn the local dimming off and immediately wanted them to turn it back on, I was totally not expecting how much of a difference it made. I honestly cannot wait to buy one.
Imagine the flip controllers being combined with one of those wrist-mounted finger tracking things, so that if you're just sitting around in VRChat you can flip the controls out of the way and just have your hands, but then if you need to move being able to flip the controls back.
PCVR consistently being the most expensive option when all the hard work is being done by an external PC is genuinely mindblowing. Guess I'm waiting another 6 months to even consider getting a headset...
Thanks for coming to the pimax booth! im really glad you enjoyed the visuals and that we got to meet!- Daniel
Been looking forward to this from you! Really appreciate what you do 💜
Pretty disappointed you didn't cover psvr2. I would have loved to hear your opinion on it! Awesome video nevertheless and top notch editing quality as always! Keep it up 💪
Same
Maybe this video was meant to be negative as most of the content was about disappointments. Perhaps PSVR2 did not fit in this negative themed video :😜
I heard them PSVR2 lines were ridiculous. I don't blame him.
@@era3250 i stand corrected. He did a Part 2 in which he explained that he did not get a chance to enter for the demo. No blame on thrilseeker
Did you try the PSVR2 yet? It's looks very good on paper, I'm really curious about it.
Yeah same here. (I already pre-ordered it but still curious of his feedback)
I love watching your CES videos, very detailed and helps me stay updated! Keep up the great content!
i get so excited when i see you in my feed. such a good feeling and i thank you for that you gorgeous human
Now this… is poggers
Hopefully some PSVR2 in part 2?
I hope so
Thanks for the video looked great! Can't wait for part 2!
Nice, the video I was waiting for :)
The Gauntl33t made it into the first second and again at 1:06 for another second! Thank you so much for showing it 🙂 We will work hard on having it a lot further along before next CES and making an experience to go with it!
yoo that looks sick!! Im sure he's saving it for the next vid on crazy tech
@@-Macchi- thank you! Guess we will see 🙂 It is still an early prototype, and we had all the fingers operating at a fixed hardness value with no experience. Would appreciate any suggestions he might have.
Great video as always! Those flip controllers looked pretty useful. As a VR dev, my workflow would be GREATLY improved by having flip controllers. As it stands I havd to take my controllers off to type on the keyboard, use the mouse, then put everything back on to test the changes.
I was feeling that modding this year
Thank for coverage as always ❤
Been looking forward to this video!!!
The wireless HaritoraX had me psyched. SlimeVR is also in production at the moment as well so it's an amazing year for wireless standalone FBT
And hybridization of both tracker types might open a breakthrough in full body tracking
For these companies to think that human beings do not have elbows and don't need one is really very interesting.
@@vpamir Doesn't SlimeVR have elbow tracking in their Full-Body Set?
@NelemNaru yes, and so does the HaritoraX.
Was waiting for this video! I almost jumped on the pre-order for the xr elite, but I'll have to wait until it's fully released to really consider it. I'm mostly looking for a new PCVR headset with a little bit of future proofing so maybe I'll wait for the full release of the Crystal and Somnium as well! Extremely ready for the PSVR2 though!
Amazing as always, keep us updated
Thank you for updating us
Definitely can't wait for more info on those flip controllers! They looked sick even as prototypes
The pimax crystal had two things going for it that makes me want it even at 1600$.
Wireless wifi6e and steam tracking.
He's right the picture quality is really good. I got to try it at CES as well. Was really impressed by the detail I could see. Holding up objects in your hand and bringing them to your face to look at them was impressive. The backlit LED with local dimming does appear to work really well too.
Amazing video, great reviews!
Great video as always m8
The flip controllers look insane! I can see their utilization in something like space or flight sims, where you would use a HOTAS, for example, for precise flight, and the controllers to control all the various buttons and knobs (instead of having to invest heavily into button boxes.) My only concern with them is weight, as they seem pretty hefty.
Hell, I'd use them in vrchat when I'm drinking and world hopping with my buddies, moving, looking running around it gets annoying having to take off controllers to grab a drink
LOOOVVVE how the flip controllers look, easily what I'm most excited about from CES given how expensive or meh the headsets all seem to be. Good to know crystal is promising but I wish that they would have native lighthouse tracking and not an additional plate that you have to pay for and deal with the weight of, along with needing all those cameras inside for the subpar inside-out tracking.
We were demoing the some of the same things at the same time at CES! Was going to say hi and thanks for the content, but you were mid-demo and filming. Here's to a great 2023 in VR.
Hey! You’re always welcome to come up and say hey! I always like talking VR (except that last day I was really running around like a madman getting last minute coverage haha)
Tysm!
Absolutely insane how small the XR elite is just a few years after the quest 2
I'm surprised you didn't check out the PSVR2. Taking a look at the foveated rendering and the haptic controllers on the next important consumer-level headset would've been great~
Yup. I especially can't wait for the haptics which the headset itself also has.
It will be a way to sort of feel the VR, right out of the box. No need to get extra accessories.
Same here why didn't he review or try SONY VR 2 ???
I like the fact the guy from the Pimax video was THERE talking with you.
Great video! What an awesome CES for VR!
Thanks Skeeva!!! :):)
as much as I love VR hardware and can't wait to see where it goes, I still can't help but feel that there's no amazing games to play coming out. I can't wait for some proper VR titles to be created to really pull me back into VR
Great video all the same!
Psvr2? GT7? HORIZON VR, Switchback VR?? RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE VR?? Crossfire sierra squad, firewall ultra??? These should help you i think
@@waleedisnowagamecatspecifi1499 most of those are just ps exclusives
@daveblueballz6659 and??? This video and Tim's comment is general about VR hardware. PsVR2 is coming next month with these amazing games. If someone wants great quality games they should ho ahead and get PSVR2. The solution to Tim's problem is right here on feb 22 2023.
@@waleedisnowagamecatspecifi1499 I and many other people don't own a PS5 or PSVR2, so you're suggesting to pay over €/$1000 on around 7 games
Sorry to break it to you but most people can't just buy over a thousand worth of electronics to play a handful of games
Psvr2 in the second video? I get that pcvr is where the major advancements will be but psvr2 will be a major step in the vr industry for sure!
Not even mentioning PSVR2 in a video for headsets coming in 2023 is very strange. The 2nd video would likely now be a justification but this video should have mentioned PSVR2. He covered so many headsets that dont even have price or release date mentioned. And psvr2 is coming out next month!!! Very strange why it was completely omitted
Thanks for you time and a huge thankyou for top notch audio.
I use hearing aids so good audio is massive part of enjoying a video. Still rocking my cv1 when will a worthy no metbook hmd arrive...........
I have been all the week waiting for this ♥
Yo Thrill, wheres the PSVR2?!
I am sad at the lack of next gen HMDs under $1000
If Deckard doesn't announce in the next few months, i might have to settle on the XR Elite.
Thanks for adding the shiftall stuff 💖
Can’t wait till you have a million followers bro. You deserve it. I don’t even have VR yet and I watch your videos religiously. Makes me feel up to date and your video quality is so nice I get to decompress and relax for the length of the video. Just wanna say thanks for that. Making life a little brighter. 😢
Looking back at a previous video about Meta going back into PCVR, what do you think the expectations would be from them? Better resolution, better refresh rate, more comfort, or tracking? What do you think?
I can take an educated guess at what he's hoping for. Take the existing Quest 2, strip it down to sensor package and display over 2 Type C connectors (one Displayport over Type-C for the display, one Data over Type-C for the sensors and controller I/O), and sell it for the same price, call it "Rift Lite". That way it has no compression going on.
I know there is ~$100 in microcontrollers, cooling, batteries and etc in a Quest 2 that'd be removed in a "Rift Lite", but Meta needs to claw back their margins somewhere as they'd inevitably be losing out on a large chunk of software sales that otherwise subsidize the Quest 2's retail price. If they literally strip down a Quest 2 it's also save them some tooling cost, just a new midframe for the ports and controller board to handle the I/O.
@@KiraSlith What about tracking. I have extremely high doubts that they will make their own "Base Stations". Ever since the Quest Pro controllers that allow tracking behind your head with accuracy. They may do something like that again, or make you buy the Quest Pro controllers. Either way it'll be very interesting.
And I agree with you, it indeed would save "Meta" or "Facebook" A lot of money.
@@arcticwolfyt9836 You're right, they'd definitely stick to the inside-out tracking and wands they're already using for the Quest 2, just dumbed down on the software side for a cheap ARM chip in the headset to handle. Affordable, accessible, convenient, these are the 3 elements that drive mainstream adoption, base stations are none of these.
Was the psvr 2 there? And if it was did you try it??
Psvr2 was at ces
Thanks for the vid
Been eyeing Shiftfall's stuff for a while, the Haritorax wireless sounds super great. I was gonna see how there new 1.1 version is but the wireless version definitely has me interested. The somnuim is also a great potential headset, hopefully we'll get to know about it more soon! Thanks for the informative vid Thrill, this was super helpful. Looking forward to the next one!
I wonder if we will ever even make an 205° fov VR headset.

Thanks for the info. Glad i got all these years out of my CV1, almost 5 years now. Valve Index is for sure the next one.
Going to watch this a couple more times, waiting for Part two
VR is back baby!
Full body tracking with B&SN on the quest 2 is approaching on the horizon! Awesome video!
Amazing video! Thank you for sharing with us. It concludes that I should probably buy a Valve Index this year? xD I'm searching to know what's the best for pcvr right now
So excited to this year of vr
Great video.
Lucids haptic gloves paired with flip VR seem like a dream combo. So excited!
Cool vid, its nice to get some updates... Were they a lot of people in the stands trying the tech out ?... I feel that VR is an incredible achivement as a technology and it seems like the headsets are even getting better and better, but on the other side the general interest isn't there yet, perhaps due to a lack of awarness and/or content..... For you where should the industry put their r&d research efforts to make the VR experience(s) even more magical ? Resolution for 100% clarity, Fov for wider immersion, the confort and ease to use of the products, or sensitive stuff like the temperature pas you've shown or feeling gloves to touch ? And which objective in your opinion will be the likely to be reached in a short term future ?
Waiting for part 2 , to see all they crazy things you're tried 😬
The flip controllers are gonna be sick can't wait to get my hands on a pair
i REALLY like the flipvrs, i know its still a prototype but i'd love them to keep the same look/aesthetic, it looks so cool and is a pretty awesome piece

man i love this kind of technology!! imagine how many awsome things we will be able to make in the future i just CANT GET AROUND IT AGH
Been waiting on this vid
Dang I was also super excited to see more on the somnium one!
I share your opinon on most stuff and great to see you test out all that hardware. thx for these vids!
I tested the portal and crystal on the VR days in R'dam a month or 1.5 ago (immersive tech week as they called it now). Same guys from Pimax, feels like a small company. When testing the portal didn't even have 6DOF, crashing a lot and was just a 360 video demo with distortion and 10 fps with extreme vignetting. I hope they can sort it out as it sounds like a fun concept and any competition in that price range is very welcome.
The crystal was running flight sim on a 4070 I think. 40-45 fps, clarity really good and FOV is awesome but tracking (maybe bad lighthouse placement) was off, and didn't have controllers only flight sim joystick, basically a 3 dof VR demo like the good ol'days.
That HTC is looking interesting with those specs, wish I could test it somewhere. My front heavy Quest 2 (with prostrap), OG Rift and my old Vive (prostrap) are just never really comfortable for longer time, so any improvement there would be great. Diopter is a very welcome addition, although I never wear my glasses in VR, only while programming.
Imho HTC is making the biggest steps these days (maybe together with sony) in XR right now, hopefully Valve follows soon and 2023 will be a VR'ry interesting year ;)
Looking forward to updates from Somnium and their VR1, I love anything open-source and something nice and modular like this seems to me like a dream come true. Depending on how it looks it may even be my first own headset.
yoooooo Thrill!!!!!🔥
Got a whiskas ad so I'm hyped up already
