I have been in Law Enforcement for well over 30 years and this is one of THE best shooting technique demonstrations I have ever seen on You tube. The only thing that I would add for new shooters is not to over squeeze the grip.. Well done..

I have practiced for years on how to shoot accurately (hitting a tin can) without using my sights. A majority of the time I am within 4 inches of my target. That is from a Draw to shooting from the Hip. When my finger hits the Trigger I am ready to place my first shot. After that first shot I will place my sights on target. I do not rely on sights when I may be in total darkness. Practice muscle memory and stance. Remember Muzzle Flash in a dark room will cause vision problems. Practice shooting in the dark.

Well done video. Concise and to the point. As an NRA instructor teaching courses for about 10 years I did like your style. I do have a question for you. Why press check after you know you've just put a round in the chamber? This has always eluded me and I've never been able to receive an answer that I clearly understood the theory behind it. Thank you.

Excellent video, thank you. Love the idea of getting those sites up to your eye ASAP - good stuff.
    One thing, though.
This is great for range-shooting but for defensive, I was taught by a former tactical officer (SWAT) friend of mine, that more of a "blade stance" makes you less of a target. Flat-on like in this video, the entire width of your chest is now a target.
Thus - when I go to the range, I have been practicing shooting from that blade/tactical stance.
I'm open to opinions/thoughts by other experts?

I Agree with your friend in regards to making yourself a smaller target

I paid careful attention and I noted that your free hand and your draw hand both came right up to and practically touching your chest. You free hand moved under-fwd-over the pistol grip. I know you said in the beginning not to bring the pistol all the way out, but why so close as to be virtually on your chest on the draw and more so, why is not the free hand positioned out just a bit more to instantly get on the grip rather than the under-fwd-over method you preformed. Great Stuff, thank you.

It appears he has the 6354RDS-SP10 - ALS® Single Strap Tactical Holster by Safariland. If it isn't that one exactly it is certainly one of their line. I know there is a company that will modify your safariland holster to improve it but I can't recall the company name. Before safariland was offering holsters for RDS they would make them compatible. Not sure if his is a direct safariland or from that company.

I'm from Philly - what is a good draw technique if car jackers bump and jump out at your driver-side door at gun point? It happed to me 25 years ago - I didn't have CCW/gun and (of course) just gave them the car. Scary thing was that those guys were teenagers and they could have done bad things without thinking things through, but they only took my cash (gave me back my wallet and paper receipts from my wallet) I also got my car back days later minus premium sound electronics.
Fast forward to today, in Philadelphia, teens are savagely car-jacking at gun-point. In January, alone, there were three such incidents that were thwarted by good guys with CCW/gun that shot the bad guy(s) and thus prevented the the car jack. The news coverage did not get into the tactical aspects of the victims protecting themselves, so I was curious on your take? I understand that advice in this particular scenario could also be detrimental to LEO making legitimate vehicle stops, so I get that too.
