  • The 2022 Honda Civic Si ($33,150 CAD starting, $27,300 USD starting) has returned after taking a step back for the 2021 model year. While this new generation may have a few less horsepower than the previous one, it now comes equipped with a limited slip differential. That will hopefully help make this new Si even more fun off the line and in a corner. As a manual only sporty daily driver, can the 2022 Honda Civic Si give you the best of both worlds? Can you have your cake on the commute and eat it too on the drive home? Watch to see what the guys think! SUBSCRIBE!

wait until it starts giving you issues. I have a '22 Si and it's on its 3rd steering rack. Now the cruise control randomly turns off and won't turn back on without turning off the car and restarting it. Wireless Android auto randomly disconnects and forgets my phone even exists which can only be solved by factory resetting the head unit. Refuses to stay aligned properly as the steering wheek is somehow perpetually offset by a degree or two. It's incredibly frustrating.

Rev hang has to do mostly with electronics and the ecu. It can be fixed a little by using a lighter fly-wheel. But it is purposely put on the car for emissions to burn off excess fuel, and can be removed with a simple tune.

Nice review. I had an ‘05 Civic Si, my 2nd favorite car I’ve owned after my current ND1 Miata. The new Si is one of the cars I’m considering for its replacement, along with the new GR86 or BRZ. But I might just wait to see the production version of the new Integra. I know many people hate it, but the Si drivetrain in a 4-door hatch - and an even nicer interior, plus likely getting the amenities we should have gotten on the US Si - really appeals to me. I’m also considering the Civic Sport Touring hatch w/6-speed manual, but really want the additional power of the Si. Can’t wait to drive all of these and see which I like best!

I had actually decided on this car over the Elantra N or WRX. Sadly dealers in my area are charging $5k+ markup, which makes this car lose quite a bit of it's bang for the buck it had going for it. Had the same issue but worse with the Elantra. I ended up with a WRX since Subaru itself is cracking down on dealers charging anything more than MSRP. Is what it is I guess.

I agree it’s the best one ever made but I also agree for this day and age it coulda been way better in a lot of aspects such as power plant, gearing, optional free summer tires etc. I mean there is no justifying the price tag of 28k for 200 HP out of a 1.5 Thats getting at best 0-60 in the 7 seconds and quarter mile in the 15s. I know 0-60 and 1/4 isn’t everything but when paying nearly 30k for a car that’s advertised as a daily performance sedan, it just doesn’t sit right.

If this specific version was released in the US, I would've already made my choice of next vehicle, especially with Hondata debunking the power loss. I guess Honda is really banking on the new Integra to win over younger enthusiasts (others have said it and I agree, all the missing features will most likely show up in that car when it arrives). For now, the Jetta GLI will remain at the top of my list for next car.

Just from exterior aesthetics POV I feel like this looks a little better than the upcoming Integra, which is a little awkward with it's hatch design. But I'm also sure they deconted the US Spec Si to not canabalize and promote the Integra as the "premium" option. If they had this spec here I'd likely get this as well.
