I’ve been a painter for over 35 yrs, the work you did to that door just to paint over it again was incredible, wonderful to see someone taking there time to do it right, pleasure to see your work again on you tube.
Tha kyou!
@@johnsfurniturerepair Trena, another beautiful job! As the daughter of a professional painter I appreciate your thoroughness. A good paint job isnt possible without a complete prep job. Great work. 👍
Greetings from Detroit, A job well done….. I have to restore three French Doors and paint those also. Learned a lot, Thanks so much!!!
Oh ya stunning girl! Most excellent job! AS ALWAYS! KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!
True artistry.
Thank you
Your tenacity to close the panel gapes without replacing the moldings is truly admirable. I'm a trim carpenter and have restored a half dozen old raised panel doors. I've always told the customer that I can't guarantee saving the old moldings. In most cases I replaced with new. Having all the milling equip it's faster for me to replace than coax movement back into the panel like you did. Good show girl,, you have so much more patient than I. Love your work. Your scope of experience and range of skill is breath taking. Your up there with the Thomas Johnson's of the restoration world.
Thankyou Paul!
I watch Thomas Johnson also.!
@@melissataylor5494 As Thomas winds down his career it's great to know that there are younger finishers at Trina's level keeping the craft alive. What's so impressive to me about her is her depth of knowledge in particular her skills matching color and finish. This just take thousands of hours at the bench there really aren't any short cuts.
There is something sublimely joyous about watching a Master at their craft. Thanks Trena, for sharing with us.
My favorite part is watching you do all the repairs. Sometimes you have to get pretty creative. I like both painted and natural wood. It all depends on the wood and the application. Which ever is more appropriate. It’s all good! Beautiful door! 👍🏼
I was wondering when you would be moving back to your Dads studio and you answered my question straight off by announcing this would be your last work in Windsor. All the best for your future endeavors. I think you worked a miracle on that door.
well, actually just my last door, there are a few more projects to come from this shop. ill let you know when its the last one. cheers
Love a bit of Trena and her skills.
You had no choice, that door had to be painted. Looks beautiful.
The chisel work was great. The paint finish was amazing. But the panels being slid back into place was exquisitely satisfying. Loved it. The Before/After segment was good too
That stripper on the white paint reminds me of a relief map of snowy mountains. The customer wanted the door painted. That's fine. You did and amazing job! I think it turned out fantastic and the customer should be very pleased.
Wonderful job on that door! I'm grateful that you share your work in so much detail. It's a privilege to see the skill and the effort you put into achieving an end result of such quality.
Thanks!
You are just a master at making something look the best it can be. I am very sure your local customers are so sad to see you leave. Thank you so much in letting us travel along with you. Thanks Michael
thanks to you
Ur name definitely is not john@@johnsfurniturerepair
And this throwaway world we live in these days it would have been so much easier to discard that door and replace it with something new and modern. I'm so thankful that there are people like you who are willing still to put in the work and appreciate the character of old pieces like this.
It's a much happier door without all those layers of paint. You have a lot going on, sending you positive vibes. Take care.
yes thankyou!
The dog and cat are buds! That is so sweet! Heck of a struggle on that one! But you always prevail in the end!
I was born and raised in Windsor but moved up to Belleville in 99. When you said “Windsor/Essex” my ears perked up. Lol
Hey Trena, you took a door that was destined for the dumpster and restored for your customer, you are truly a master craftswomen, an artist. It doesn’t matter how the door was finished, stain , paint, varnish, whatever, it your customer’s door and they are the ones that have to love your work.
Yea Thankyou!
From scrap to a million dollar piece by Trena. 👍👍
Wow! Lovely, lovely, lovely! I truly love old worn and flawed pine doors and cabinetry with the natural marks and wear of age. However, I think that you gave this limping repurposed door more life than it could have had any other way. Wonderful work! Thank you for sharing!
Thankyou Jerry!
Just beautiful
Hello Trena. I admire your skills and knowledge. Thank you and greetings from Sweden
Thankyou
The first front door I painted was a bright yellow. My landlord asked if the paint job would calm down after a bit. It never did. A glorious sunshiny welcoming door during grim north-east Scottish winters.
Ya, I think it's nice to see a splash of colour in the shop occasionally 😂. Every time I watch a video, I say God Bless your hands Trenna. Continued success.
Patricia, Dublin 🇮🇪
thankyou!
I continue to be impressed by your skill and attention to detail. I would have replaced that door, but you made it look better than new. Thanks for the video.
Looks wonderful! I was gutted when my parents junked the original 1936 door on my childhood home. What a waste. It was gorgeous and the hardware! Ah, to die for.
I'm thankful for your time and effort to post these videos. You tackle such a wide spectrum of projects with so much know-how. I'm always amazed with your creativity and problem solving skills, and I learn new things as I watch each video. I'm so glad and grateful for your channel. Cheers! 😎👍🏻🥂
Thankyou so much!
This is going to sound odd but I just love Doors! Doors, chairs and muscle cars. You've taken a beat up ugly duckling and made it a NEW old door. Beautiful.
Der sanfte Glanz passt wunderbar, eine Tür mit Charakter - Thanks for sharing
Beautiful! Now I want to strip mine down, LOL Great job!
Go for it! Lol
Beautifully done, kudos to your tenacity and skills. Your customers are very, very fortunate.
Thank you very much!
Wow look at this girl.. magnificentTTTT .. some people are blessed with their working skillls..
thankyou!
I cannot believe the work you did on just the bottom of the door… then you said you were painting *jaw dropped* amazing job you are so bad ass
I watch your videos because I love to see how you work, but I also loved seeing your house and shop.
You did this beautifully!! The customer will be happy with it!!! Niek.
As always, you did wonderful job on that door. You have the caring touch!
@25:55
I see that it is break time for the shop employees.
I too enjoy working on doors. What a feeling you get after you rejuvenate what someone spent years messing up.
Keep up the great work.
That blue color looks so good with the brass
i agree
Thumbs up just for shifting the centre panels! 👍🏻👏🏻
creepy old door sounds ASMR!
amazing work, really enjoyed this!
Amazing restoration job I never thought it would come out as nice as this, your father has taught you an amazing skill I bet he is so proud of you.
Wow, that was a pretty ratty looking door when you started. It’s bad when you see something and you think hmm, eight prior coats of paint? You did a fantastic job on the repairs ❤. Good to watch the technique and process. Thank you for sharing your skills ❤. Until next time 💕
The amount of effort it takes to restore a piece like this vs just replacing with a new one is what makes this work really stand out. We need more of this in our lifes, not just quick fixes. Even though I work in a completely different field (healthcare), I can relate to the work done here. Thank you for the amazing job!
thankyou
Yea, this door had COPD, and got a lung transplant...
Great work Trena. Your attention to detail is second to none. Perhaps you can put a photo up of how the door looks when re-installed in its final place.
will do!
@@johnsfurniturerepair can't wait!!!
I love the way shop dog and shop cat sit together!
Fearless, ingenious and knowledgeable and more! That’s who you are ❤
I always hold my breath on the weekend when I open CZcams and hope to see a new Trena video. I get giddy when I see you at the top of my feed. 😂 🎉🎉
lol, awesome!
Nice job Trena!
Terrific work. I love to watch you ply your trade.
Thanks!
OMG that old surface-mounted lock was *THUGGLY*
yes, lol
I have admired beautifully painted front doors for many years. It was such a pleasure to see you restore this antique 10/10 💙💙💙
thankyou
Why anyone would not want to see the door painted is beyond me. It is beautiful. Thank you for showing your skills Trena. Showing your skills for free. Lovely job.
In the beginning your expression said it all. If the door could smile, it would be a happy smile, but I'm sure your smile was even happier.
I can't count the number of times i grimace when I see you doing a repair in your videos that I think is wrong and then have to eat some humble pie when it turns out beautiful. Great work Trena, you inspire me.
Lol, thanks for being Honest
That's the bad thing about using soft woods on raised door panels. They tend to shrink over time. That other house was beautiful! And you were such a cutie!
I would have cut out that whole lock section and replaced it since it was so rotten. But you are the expert. I'm just a hobbyist.
yes if it was more rotten i would have had too, but the rot was very superficial thank goodness. cheers!
Once again I'm totally amazed!
I don't know why I thought it was the worst idea to restore this sorry looking door. Obviously, the people who insisted you do the job knew you are a magician. Only someone versed in the dark arts would be able to tackle such an insane job. Seriously, the result is unbelievable. Thank you for filming it.
Thankyou!
That teal like color is really appealing. Wonderful work. Great attention to detail.
yes i think so too!
ThanksTrina.Enjoy watching you employ your craft. Thank you from Bill in NovaScotia.👍👍
Best quality restoration and repairs ever! I want to come to her shop to be an apprentice for a week!! 😁
Super job, as much as I enjoy the work you do on furniture, this was a nice change of pace.
It's hard to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear but, you did a wonderful job.
Thanks for posting.
What an absolutely beautiful transformation!
WOW, If had not watched the whole video I would have said you got a new door, but you gave this old door a new lease on life. Trena you do amazing work. I love the colour you painted on the outside of this old door. You are doing fantastic work with all the fine details on those pieces you work on. I am sure the customer was very pleased with how it turned out.
Yes they were very happy. Thankyou so much!
Boy is Windsor gonna miss you!
Another beautiful save....nice job!!!
Trena it's not that I don't like painted wood,it that I love natural better. This is lovely. This will add pizazz to someone's front door
Angie from Transcend Furniture Gallery sent me. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this project. True craftsmanship! Will love to go back and see what you've already done and looking forward to future projects.
welcome! tell Angie thankyou, always happy to grow my community. cheers
The finished product turned out remarkably well considering all its shortcomings. Thanks for sharing your brand of thinking outside the box skills.
great work sweetie .....that is hard work for even the intelligent and skilled professionals ! great job !
The door of the human heart can only be opened from inside, you're a treasure in every sense, thanks for letting us look in ! loving the door too !
You always go above and beyond! An excellent job! X
Superb job, I could watch and learn all day, thank you so much for sharing
Beautiful and awesome words from everyone. All have expressed my words to you. You are a Master Craftswomen in your field. That door looks great and I love the color. Thanks for sharing.
Tha kyou!
Now that was quirky!!! And the door is now beautiful and functional.
When I was much younger (75 now) I truly wish I had been able to apprentice under your father. I just wound up as an electrician but I always had a love of furniture craftsmanship.
I wasn’t sure I would like the added blocks but it makes sense and the look grew on me. After all the door needs to be functional. I’m very impressed
My heart was broken when this was painted but I wasn't about to not watch to the end. The final result is beautiful, as usual, and the color is beautiful. I'm always amazed at the results of your superior repairs. No one else does a better job!
Thankyou for sticking it out. 🥰
the cracks were hypnotics ^^ and that work again is incroyable.
YOU ARE AMAZING. I WATCH YOU ALL THE TIME AND YOU CAN DO ANYTHING IN THE RESTORATION BUSINESS.
Thankyou Judy!
Just Wow😮
It came out great
Your patience with that is amazing. I am a very patient person but I think you would win this one. LOL
That door was so used and deteriorated but you make miracles and you surely did on this piece. It lookit s beautiful and I never could imagine it looking so amazing again. I loved that. I don't mind painted doors as much as I do furniture. The yellow door on your other home was gorgeous and I loved that. The trim or woodwork in your home was absolutely beyond words beautiful as well. Love it! I grew up and dad always rented old early 1900 homes until he and mother bought a home when I was in 8th grade. All the woodwork in your brick home looks like homes I was raised in until I was about 12 or so. Absolutely gorgeous woodwork and big bedrooms and tall ceilings and trim everywhere in dark wood with wooden floors. Back then, as a child, I knew nothing of homes etc. except it was home. Growing up of course we start to learn and appreciate the beauty of such. I would love to have one of those homes now. One had 10' pocket doors of heavy heavy wood which appeared to look like mahogany but perhaps cherry and of course marble on top of full wall length radiators. Beautiful and I wish I owned that home now. Big old beautiful homes in the cold northern border states in the US. Sorry for the rabbit hole story, but your home and the doors triggered memories...........TY for sharing all your beautiful work/talent and it truly is a time of pure relaxation as I watch you renovate the furniture or whatever you are working on at that time. I always want to congratulate you again on your upcoming move and the new shop.
Blessings!!
thankyou for sharing your beautiful memories, cheers!
Beautiful job. (Why am I not surprised?) I applaud your courage in moving those panels!
Trena, where do I begin, upon seing the subject of today's video, I eagerly poured my 24 ounce of sweet and creamy in what i can honestly say was my favorite part of the work. I was the wood detail guy and the only painter in our whole shop of maybe 30 craftsmen and 30 skilled laborers. So my bell instantly rang for this. You started with the best strip work revealing a pristine surface I never put under paint myself as i will say i felt i could get away with it. How wrong I was. I think at times my experience was fueled by arogance. You at every turn take it to a shining example of professional skill. Forgive my fawning over it but I still will 😂. You taking a painted surface down to a beautiful example antiqued natural and unfinished look again, had me agog! And your carpentry skills are only defined by your necessary ability to make changes that work all the better than your original plan. That ogee and mortise repair was damn craft snappy! 🤗
Let me also add that showing your all products from the type(s) of stripper and flitz product is something I rewound to see before i realized you were doing it👍🏼exactly what an informative instructional topic should do. I'm hooked and you must know that by now. Anyway, I look forward everybit more you post.⚘
wow! thanks Ray. i am very grateful fo your kind words and i always appreciate comments from industry professionals. cheers!
Your mum and dad must be very proud of you trena.? Top of the class trena 😊
Thanks for sharing. Great job as always. Cheers.
Bravo!!!
Such a beautiful job Trena. I just love it.
Hi Trena, Great result, really like the blue finish 😍 never sprayed a door before! Got to do mine this year, Buckingham green me thinks! I was taught by some really great guys when I was doing my City and Guilds in decorating and when I see any painted surface not done right just buggs the crap out of me, I don't do it as a job anymore just my own stuff... TFS, GB :)
Wonderful. That door needed paint and you did it soooo well. I love all the fixing you do to make it a solid piece to last long.
Thanks so much!
Loved Shop Dog and Shp Cat watching the world together!
They say you can't polish a turd but you did looks fantastic!!
Lol
That's great, thanks for your video, saved the door.
I like the mitres on the little blocks and the dull blue brings out the gleaming brass a treat, nice. 😄👍
I can just imagine what's it's like for a new piece of furniture coming into your shop. It would be scared and tired and worn out, but when it comes in, the pieces that you've worked on telling it, it's ok your in safe hands now. You were always going to win the battle, the door just needed a little bit of care and coaxing. 👍🤗
Another great job Trena. Love that you kept the antique look under the paint.
Tremendous save of an old door.
You do excellent work
Excellent job Trina!!!
Fantastic transformation Trena ,always love your work
You are so talented.
Just fabulous!😊 I love it!
