- This week Trena repairs and refinishes an old drop leaf table. It was made from pine and hadn't held up very well over the years. In the end he fights to colour-match a difficult factory stain that was mostly opaque.

Thar turned out beautifully, Trena. Thanks for letting us come along on your journey. It's always nice to watch you make something old look so good. We can't wait for the next one. Love, Dave and Amy ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Once again, you have met the challenge. Nicely done! Thanks for the video.
I am always amazed at how you color match. You are a true artist.
anytime you say something should have been burned i immediately know it will be a stellar restoration and this was no different. LOL.
Boy that was a lot of work. Hope your customer appreciates it. That looks lovely. I really learn alot from you Trena. I don't refinish anymore but I still love furniture.
Very nice job, Trena! You certainly did a great restoring/refurbishing job on this table!
Thanks so much!
You are the master of color, staining, finishing. anyone who’s ever tried to match or do stain on raw wood like that knows how incredibly hard it is to get it to look even like you do,and you do it every time.
Thankyou
Let us all pause and give thanks that Trena, and not I, was commissioned to color this piece. Frustration alone would have led to a hot pink table! Trena is an artist. Love watching her work!
Lol thanks Lorna!
I can't watch most repairers and there nonsense, you and ol'Thomas. Great job👍
The table was absolutely gorgeous when completed. That table will shine for the next 50 plus years because of the love you put into it.
wish I lived closer; I have an amazing radio from the 1900's I need restored.
You are the Houdini of furniture reconstruction! We just need more people with the creativity, patience and love of perfection like you in our world. What a treasure you are..... Cheers
Thankyou
I've met many pro polishers who do not have your skills, colour matching is a sort after skill in the furniture game and you have it.
Always stealing my ❤️ you furniture restoration hero! Lol, awesome job. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I lived close enough to be a customer. So often I see some great pieces of furniture that I think "Trena could do wonders with this".
Amazing work once again.
Thanks!
Trena is moving to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan soon. Maybe that is closer.
I look around my house and think "Trena could do wonders with this!"
@@30dayride67 I do too. I have an antique Stickley buffet with a very difficult to open drawer and I know she could fix it.
Yeah, me too!
I’m glad you made a new top. And I loved seeing your process for the color!
When you say probably should have burned this one... that means a must watch episode! You do amazing work! Thank you for sharing your experience and talent!
Lol you welcome
Exactly right, Connie. MUST WATCH; I can wash the car tomorrow or take out the trash or the laundry can wait another day but MUST WATCH this one.
Good one , I saw the grand Trina smile 😃 it's been a spell . And or I've been in a spell. So now I'll view a few 😁 Fun-tastic job !
Wow! Just amazing, Wow. Sure glad they dumped that pine.
Ms Trena .... We The Few ... enjoyed your attention to detail and patience in providing this repair. We look forward to your next workmanship we learned a lot 🧘♂, Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and prayers.... OORAH!!

Some things look better on fire, but not this one. I learn something from every video. Great job.
Really well done!! You turned a poor piece and turned it into a treasure!
I think the choice to replace the top was spot on. I don't feel like that pine was the original top anyway. Turned out great!
Beautiful job young lady.
Colours, colours, colours.... it can be very difficult, but you succeeded!!Very nice!!Niek.👌👌👌
Yes thankyou
The new color is such a pretty warm honey. In about 1960 my mom got new furniture, all Early American warm honey maple. Made for a warm, inviting home. This table brought back good memories. Beautiful job!
Perfect. Thankyou
Wow! Another silk purse from a ...., well it is a silk purse now! Wonderful work and great color lesson! Thank you for sharing.
Wow, that was a hard job. You did a wonderful looks beautiful. I hope your customer appreciates everything you went through and pays you at least five hundred dollars
Thank you so much!
Excellent!
I am often amazed at your eye for color and how you can match even a very difficult hue. Great work as always. Great little table for a "kids table" on the holidays.

DAMN Lady, you've got some SERIOUS SKILLS.!.!.! WTG.!.!.! And the table looks Amazing.!.!.!
Thankyou
Your color matching is incredible 💛🧡💛
Just beautiful!!!
When I saw you using the router to cut the rebate for the hinges I thought wow, Trena is doing it freehand! Then I noticed the template and I didn´t feel so inferior! Good job!
Wow, another amazing result - you have such patience and skill! Lee Valley is the best - I hope they sponsor you!
I love the colour testing/detective work you do to get the piece just right. No one else goes to that much effort
The master of color does it again.
WWTD=What Would Trena Do. I find myself thinking this all the time. You have changed how I think about furniture, colors, shades, functionality. Just how a piece will last and change with time. Thank you Trena
Wow. Thankyou
Wonderful work! The table looks like new. Always a pleasure to watch you. Dannke for this video, looking forward to a new one. See you soon Maria
Thanks Maria!
I love how you get such a delicate result with basically a wrecking bar and a big hammer.
Lol
Wow Trena you are a master! I would love to have half your knowledge and experience. This is the type work I love. You have such a good eye for color and finish. Keep up the amazing work!
Thankyou
Superb! I spray painted my clothesline and my trigger finger was locked up for a couple of days lol. Apparently you don’t have this issue. Lol. Keep up the great work. Very enjoyable to see them return to life!
Lol thanks.
Beautiful work by a gorgeous lady. Well done!
Those legs are exactly the same cut on a 1780s / 90s Pine dressing table I have from England!
Amazing work !
Lovely nails Trena, hand-wrought is best. ;-)
Trena, you know your stuff......Amazing!!!
Tha kyou!
I'm glad you're doing this. For this reason i do not do repairs on antiques. I stick to new design. I admire your work on colors. You really go the extra mile to get it as close as possible. Look how beautiful that table is now! Really enjoyed the before and after pictures too.
Great and inspirational teacher for us wannabes
absolutely amazing! Superb. 👍
The title got me. Awesome as always!
Hi Trena...beautiful work as always....Take care...cheers !!!
Fine job, Trena. As usual. Love the new top.
You worked your magic again! ❤
Very Nice!
hello, I volunteer at the seashore trolley museum in Kennebunkport, Maine. Over the years I've been involved with many restorations. When it comes to matching colors, paint and stains. The best way is to go outside and use the natural daylight. Overcast days are best the lighting is balanced. Incandescent lighting such as tungsten, florescent, and L.E.D. changes the actual color by eye sight being used as a sample. We get a perfect match every time. You're doing a great job. Love your work.
Thanks yes natural light is always best cheers
Wow. You do such beautiful work. I love this table. Great work.
gday from sunny Queensland Australia , thank you Trena , good job on this piece xoxo cheers
Your talent is endless not only can you take a piece that is so broken & repair it to doing small repairs like with this piece buy you can also match a color dead on no matter how many products or steps it takes to get it,,,every piece I have seen you do leaves me amazed at how you do it,,,love all of your videos ❤😊
Thankyou!
I uave watched you for a few years now(4-5) and your skillset amazes me. When I started, you were pretty dang good already. Fast forward to today and the last 3 big pieces (the big floor level drawer (with all the slider repair), the tall 3 pc. with the sad top veneers and the giant 5 or 6 pc set with chairs, all included cabinetry, carpentry and superb finish have elevated you and now highlight you so well. I have said I pour my cuppa and am entertained with your ease and confidence. thank you Trena, I am a true fan!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Ray. I think the channel is only 3yrs old but it’s lovely to have you along. 🥰
@@johnsfurniturerepair 3 yrs sounds right. I have aphasia from a stroke and my time cognition is slightly askew.⚘
Beautiful job Trena!
Nice work , greetings from Berlin Germany
Gosh that color is great but what a convoluted process. You are a pro to figure it out.❤
Excellent transformation that kept the piece true to its original aesthetic. The new top was a great call. Really liked the video technique of the raw insert to watch the development of the top as as you applied all those color and finish elements.
thankyou
Good job, great attention to detail. I would have liked to see the chair next to it to see how well they blended together.
Many of the pieces you restore look like they should be firewood, but you work your magic, and they look beautiful. I assume many of these are cherished family heirlooms.
Yea. Thankyou
Awesome work! Another piece saved from he fire! ❤
Very good job as usual.
When you know you know You did another fantastic job I
This is a great illustration of the decisions that have to be made in furniture restoration. Your instincts are spot on: this is a functioning piece of furniture, not a piece of art. It was built as a functioning piece of furniture and should be restored to be one. That is the best way to honor the original maker.
I agree
That color was quite a rough journey but you got us there in great shape! HURRAH!
Nice job!
It's very pretty and it looks functional as well. I love the legs. As usual a great video. Thank you for sharing.👍♥️
Tha kyou
Good sunday Trena,so beautiful
Really lovely work, Trena! 😘
Smashing job as usual, good call on the replacement top. 👍👋🇬🇧
Excellent musical choice.
That's looking so nice now with the new top, and finish. Well done, as always attention to detail leads to a beautiful table.
Thankyou
As always a perfect restoration with your skills 👌 😉 👏
I like your call of firewood on this renewal.
Masterpiece !!!! Love the color and it did take sometimes to find the right one but you succeed and this table is safe for many more years !!! So no burning this table......😅😅
Wow the color turn out great! Once again…fantastic job!
It takes you trena to. Make things work ,not a broblem, very nice job as usual😊
You are a master and matched the color beautifully as always. I would have never chose that style of chair for that table but client overrules.
The guy who built that table didn't have two nickels to rub together. You did a great job.
Yes probably not
Wonderful work Trena, really enjoy your content and always looking to see if you have new videos.

You don't always have to strip to make me appreciate your work!
Lol
Another amazing restoration!
I had doubts about the color but you know what you're doing. Nice work Trena, . Love you Trena.
Thanks Dad🥰😳🥰🥰
Lol, you say you like to fix everything and anything that looks like it should be worked over, but I believe that you do it because you must love the smell of that glue.
Lol
Beautiful work as usual Trena! A pleasure to watch. 👍
Thankyou
AWESOME!
You are the coolest woman on you tube!
