Absolutely love the work done on my chair. She has a great talent. Turned out beautiful, couldn’t be more pleased
Thankyou Bev it was such a pleasure!
What a great family piece. Bless you for having it restored. Jealous actually.
She's brilliant! The chair is skillfully, masterfully restored to it's former glory.....but what really matters is that her customer, the owner, is well pleased and loves the work she's done. Well done Trena!
I am so glad that you shared your feelings about the outcome with all of us. As the final result was revealed I found myself really wanting to know what the owner's reaction was. It's a beautiful piece obviously very full of memories. So glad you had it restored.
You’re so lucky to have access to such an amazing artist!!!
When i saw the seat, I immediately thought "Washikozo paper". Guess I've been watching way too many Baumgartner restorations. :)
If I had some I would have used it Love his channel
For a paper seat, I was gobsmacked by the amount of work/pressure it could take. Another masterful repair/restore and preservation of family memories. Kudos!
Thankyou
Exactly, and I would have thought there would no way on Earth it could be fixed. She did it. *shrug*
This chair should be renamed as "Lazarus ". Only Trena's miracle repair on the paper has brought it back to life!
My Granny had a rocker that every time I came to visit, my cousin tried to get in Granny's lap first. When Granny died, my cousin took the rocker and had it renovated and still has it today. We are both 75 now.
Wow. That’s so nice
OMG! As a sign painter, I can't tell you how many times I tipped over the paint or dropped the brush on a finished sign! It's nice to know I'm not the only klutz in the world. Beautiful work, as usual!
Lol oh no. That sounds worse than a table. Cheers
Trena has it all in hand.yes no doubt Trena knows her stuff.❤😊
Fantastic work on that pressed paper! Clearly you a master of the dark arts! Well done, Trina.
Lol thanks
I love how you did that seat and of course the rest of the rocker. But the seat is remarkable Trena. I had my doubts and I shouldn’t have. You are the best restorer.
Thankyou.
The tool you use to extract the nails, is called a side cutter (pliers) or nippers.
Yep
@@johnsfurniturerepair I was not being berating, but sometimes my mansplaining is out of control. 😆
Like gluing a paper plate back together . Miraculous! Letting no one sit on it ever again!😊
Goodness!!! When you said that was a paper seat cover I really didn't know how you were going to repair it. Well done I am suitably impressed.
Thanks so much!
I would have never thought you could fix a paper seat like that. That's pretty amazing.
What a beauty! It would be interesting to know how old the chair is. We visited the farm in So Dak back when young and I remember the chairs having wire wrapped around the bottom of some of them. People didn't find things as disposable as many do today. Everything was kept, restore, renewed or "fixed" as best they could. I don't remember many new things but repaired and made to look new or just repaired as best a nail could do it. The memories touch my heart and there was a happiness in the old things as they showed the past and use those items got. Love those memories. I so wish there was a greater love of the items from the past as I felt they were when growing up. I love your trade for that very reason and the perfection ane pride you take in your work. Thank you for retaining the past and keeping memories "new" for so many of your customers. Thank you for sharing all these things with us. Beautifully done once again!
Blessings
Thankyou so much. Beautiful words and I agree.
My great grandmother owned it and she was born in 1870’s. so probably Early 1900
Great job on the chair Trena, you would never know that, that seat was messed up. Most people would have done away with the seat and replace it with something else, by you saving it, that shows the kind of love and respect you show to your client's and their furniture. My hats off to you, looking forward to your next video!!!
Thankyou
I was raised on a farm and remember a chair wired up that was my grandparents left for my folks, when they took over the farm.
Nice. I kinda like it
Beautiful dream result from a nightmare old wreck.
No wonder the owner is over the moon.
Inspired work, Trena.
You have a beautiful hand at repairing items, no matter the material. Thank you for sharing your skills.
Thankyou
The paper seat really shocked me. I though no way. I was wrong. Nice work. I am really in shock. You really do nice work. We all could learn something from you. fantastic job!
Thanks
You performed a miracle on that seat.
Thankyou
I didn't think there was any way you could fix that seat. I was certainly wrong! Great job!
Oh my goodness!! I can't believe the seat repair!! WOW it looks like it was never all broken. Just amazing!
Tha kyou!
A most beautiful restoration. The seat turned out almost like brand new. You have great skills, Daddy taught you well. Thank you for inviting us to witness your magic. Dave & Amy in North Carolina.❤
Thankyou
You are good... really, really, really good! The seat work alone was worth the whole repair!
Thankyou
I’ve never seen a paper insert that is placed on the seat. I’ve seen them on other places. Absolutely a beautiful piece restored perfectly. Knowing that’s it’s paper and not leather I doubt I would want to sit on it. (I’m not a big person and it makes me nervous) definitely the right decision to salvage its beauty. ❤❤❤
You did a great job on that chair, it looks lovely!
I am a paper conservator so I look after paper things all day, every day, and I gotta say, what you did to that seat...good work. That thing would be difficult to repair for anybody, especially to restore it to functionality. I think you did great with the initial repair and the reinforcing/support layers.
Wow. Coming from you that is a lovely comment. Cheers
Very fascinating repair! I’d never heard of a paper seat before. I’ve seen Julian Baumgartner use his hot table to flatten distorted canvas artwork. Since it’s traditionally not a flat seat, that process may not have been successful. It turned out amazing Trena. I didn’t expect anything less. See you in the next installment.
Thanks Jim
Is there anything you can't do? That seat repair is a stroke of genius !
I wouldn’t mind sitting on that seat myself Trena…😊❤🎉
Never seen a paper seat before. How awesome. Job well done. Loved watching this one. ❤
The Paper Seat repair, and restoration - that was really well done. Impressive even.
Thanks
You did an outstanding gorgeous job on the rocker! I'm blown away at the seat. If I hadn't seen the damage I would have never known it was wrecked before! Your customer is going to be amazed at how beautiful it looks now,! Awesome job 👍! ❤❤
Yea. Thankyou so much!
Are you sure that what you do is repair things? I think you work miracles!!!
🥰
Wow what a beautiful job
I have watched a lot of these restorations and repairs and what comes accross most is Trena's patience. something that I do not posess. Great videos.
Thankyou
Wonderful finish and repair on that chair.
I have to say Trena I am exceptionally impressed with what you did with that paper seat. I truly thought you lost your mind when you said you were going to try and fix it.😂
Lol well I may have but it worked out.
I bet the owner will be over the moon with this restoration. Great work as always
Yes!
Trena, amazing job as always. The repair of that paper seat is absolutely amazing. It's a shame there is no picture of the seat with the colors. Can't wait for the next video. Hope the prep for moving is going well.
Thanks. So far so good.
I wish we could see the owners reaction to seeing these amazing transformations.
She is pretty happy. It was my great grandmother’s
Thankyou Bev
Repairing that ole tattered pressed paper seat has to be the most remarkable examples of breathing life into an unusable chair that I have ever seen. Thanks for showing us that not everything that is too far gone to fix is really beyond repair.
I am sure that when the customer saw this chair the memories were restored along with the rocker.
You are very talented. Keep up the good work.
Thankyou
Pat yourself on the back!! Outstanding job.
Turned out beautifully. I’m sure your client was thrilled!
Yes Thankyou
the paper seat is unreal, i am surprise it has lasted so much abuse. love the restoration job. it looks brand new to say the lease
I had doubts that you were going to be able to finish that seat as good as you did. Super job well done. X
Wonderful repair. Your customer will be very happy!
You had me on my toes trying to guess how on earth you were going to fix the seat and rocking chair!!!😮
You are a detective the way you analyze the problems
You must have strong hands you love your ball pien hammer
It's said the devil's in the details. You whup him every time. With that said, when you were taking the wire off the legs, a piece was left on one leg. My OCD had me saying, "Trena, take that wire off" every time I saw it! Absolutely beautiful work!
Lol sorry. It did come off later.
Loved the work, enjoyed the comment where you "Bumped" the stain all over the work bench. "When served raw meat, you make a stew, and waste not, want not" scenario, eh? LOL
Lol yes
Beautiful chair and excellent work as always!
I'm so happy to have found your videos!! your knowledge, expertise, dedication and love for your work is admirable. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching, your videos are a master class for the next generation of furniture repair people. You are so generous and amazing. Thank you Trena!!!
A big hug from the other side of the world, Argentina.☺
Thankyou so kind
I had an old rocker with a tooled leather medallion tacked across the seatl Never saw another like it. You do great work Trena. Good luck on your move. 🌞
Thankyou
I grew up with a lot of relatives on farms and just accepted that wooden chairs with twisted wire holding the legs together was just how they were made. It was only years later, working for a furniture refinisher, that I heard the term "farmer fix". An d I agree. there is something quaint(?) about that kind of repair.
Trina, one of the true masters of the craft, and I have seen quite a few very talented artists! You are definitely up in the top five I have ever seen!! You are a beauty!!❤
Tha kyou!
I agree with your assessment that this is indeed an 'unusual' seat but as my late wise father used to say: ' There's an '--- for every seat". Great job as always..
Lol thanks
Good golly girl, is there nothing you can’t repair? If your customer isn’t thrilled they should be ashamed. That came out great. Thanks for bringing us along. 🙏🏻
They were very happy. Thankyou
I thought you cut your hair from the intro but I think it was just back still. You have such a classic Hollywood look about you. I can see you in a gown with barely there makeup and a bold lip. Just classically gorgeous with the patience and gentle soul to boot! I could watch you work for hours (I actually have binge watched your videos a time or two) and your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me! You truly have a rare kind of pride that the internet needs more of. It’s refreshing. Thank you! I learn so much from every single video you post.
wow, thankyou for your very kind and generous words. i actually did cut my hair, cheers
I wouldn't have dreamed the repair of that seat was possible! A fabulous result!
Wow! another victory over the ravages of time and abuse. Hopefully no one will try standing on the seat again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, skill, and sense of adventure.
Yes Thankyou
Next time I have a press paper seat to repair, I am coming to find you. That was an amazing result!
Lol deal. Thanks
I was so excited about this video because I just did one of these chairs, but mine had no seat included. So I ordered the leather insert. So happy to watch. Thank you. Vicki
If I hadn't seen it for myself I thought that seat could not be fixed. Amazing how you made a cherished family heirloom have a new life. I absolutely love your work. You show me everytime your know how to problemsolve. Absolutely astonished what you can do. If I could I would give you a standing ovation. And it would be well deserved. ❤❤❤
🥰
Amazing professional work Trena! You are a master of your craft.
Thankyou
Looking at that paper seat repair, I can hear @BaumgartnerRestoration "So this is where we need to add the nylon gossamer to do the backing"
Your rescue of the peacock seat was another glowing testimony. Few would dare try such let alone succeed.
Thankyou
You are a magician. I thought that task of saving this chair was not solvable. Looking so good, and i love the bees wax, taking back that "in your face" sheen. Good job as always!
Yes. Thankyou
Simply amazing!
That seat repair turned out so so so gorgeous!
Love your channel
Thankyou
I love watching you work Trena! Your results are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your art with us.
Tha kyou.
Masterpiece... love it .your dad and god made you for this skill of patients thank you for sharing
My mom refinished a rocker almost like that one. I remember it well. Thanks for giving it more memories for others to have as well.
I can't imagine how you know how to tackle that seat. The chair looks so beautiful. A cherished heirloom.
Nice outcome. That was an interesting seat repair. It should last at least another hundred years. Now I want to find out how it was made.
My grandmother had a chair with a seat like that, been a very long time since I saw that. Thanks for the memory.
Glad you enjoyed it
I really believe there is nothing in the world of furniture that you cannot repair and do it excellently.
Oh Thankyou
You are something else girl God Bliss you.
Good timing I was looking for something great to watch
Thankyou
Great job on the seat. Love the way you tackle problems. No fluster just get it done well. Great attitude.
Thankyou
Great rebuild, I have never seen a pressed paper seat before.
I loved the seat repair. My grandparents used a similar technique to repair book covers. On another CZcams channel I noticed a guy using a small drill bit to remove wood around a nail so that he could gain a grip on it for removal. He also uses wood plane shavings to fill in the gap for loose tenons. Thanks for sharing your restoration skills.
Great idea
Love old rocking chairs, you brought her back to life. Beautiful! Your ingenuity is inspiring💗!
Wow. Double wow. Truly remarkable! Cheers to my very favoritest person that I have never met.
Awe. Thanks Steve
Again you prove you are not only a genius with with wood but a true artist. Love your work Trina ♥️
Thankyou
The work on the seat is REMARKABLE!
You have an amazing tool collection ❤
Thanks
Great job on the chair and the seat. You take pride in your work even if your hinge had an contribution in its finish.
Lol
Trina you have Golden hands....... superjob
Thankyou
The seat repair is absolutely amazing!
Being a former farm kid, and remembering how something’s were repaired, it was usually, what we referred to as baling wire, wire and nails, generally way oversized nails for the application, was the getter done and move on. I think the wire was the duct tape of the day, and nails were the quick dry glue of the day.😊 I think wire was used universally no matter where in the world you are/ were from. Another great save, especially on the seat, thanks for the video young lady, enjoyed it, and as usual learned something again.
Awesome. Thankyou
Trinna, fantastic tear down/rebuild! Definitely verifies that your are at the top of your game in your craft!! Good going.
Thankyou
This was great! Unreal how that seat turned out! Super job!
The seat restoration is incredible!
You can not see the cracks. Wow-great job saving the chair.
Thanks
@@johnsfurniturerepair Always glad to watch workmanship at it's greatest. Enjoy your videos.
Fantastic job. Most folks would have tossed that old seat, but you made it beautiful again. You are a true master at what you do.
Thankyou
Love that you will try anything to repair whatever comes your way. That was mind blowing!
Thanks
Not too dab-shabby, Trena. I enjoy conservation work.
I'd say I'm amazed at how well this turned out, but let's face it... from you we expect nothing less! You are just amazing. Great Work!
Awe. Thankyou
