178K subscribers I'm thinking about building one of these Imperium Battlebarges out of LEGO bricks. (I have built other Warhammer 40K spaces out of LEGO bricks and that includes the Imperium Dauntless-class Light Cruiser, the Necron Shroud-class Light Cruiser, the Orc Kill Kroozer, the Eldari Eclipse-class Battlecruiser, and even a Tau Il'Porrui Class Cruiser (also known as the Emissary).
always found it odd how a chapter of 1000 guys needed several ships that were over several km in size, were they like 99% full of serfs?
andrzej wysocki yes, each Astartes battle barge equivalent has a crew of at least 5000 up to ten times that of human serfs and servitors. And that was true for the Great crusade fleets too, and each ship is commonly commanded by a highly skilled human, non-Astartes naval captain such as Lothara Sarrin, captain of the Conqueror, flag ship of the World Eaters legion's primarch.
Though she herself is probably assimilated into the ship or granted the blood god's favour and elevated to daemon queen or a tragic loss of the long war.
Also the Deathworld series by Harrison, some Stainless Steel Rat stuff in the early WH40K universe too. Bill was a piss take of Starship Troopers IIRC? WH40K is really a massive mashup of just about everything popular with hairy metallers circa 1987, but the obvious literary influences are Mike Moorcock (they used to play Hawkwind in the GW shop back then), Frank Herbert, Harry Harrison, lots of concepts stolen. Also 2000AD big influence. As a young spod I remember being surprised at how many WH40K tropes were turning up in my dad's SF collection.... These days it's all a bit corporate, no?

TY for begining to cover the warpships of 40k, they dont get enough coverage w/the exception of those gamers familiar with battlefleet gothic. I think this is because players cant feild them alongside their regular infantry miniatures & the occasional titan because their vast size would require a van to take to a game or con & thats for something small like a destroyer. Suggestion: Light Cruisers & destroyer escorts ( I added the destroyers in case their wasnt enough material to do a whole video & BF players will be familiar w/taking these extra ships to fill out their fleet during a game). TY again & eep up the good work

Not to critizice 40k universe for not making a bit of sense but how could the life of imperial guardsman be less than value of their rifle when brinning that guardsman anywhere requires construction of warp navigating starships. Its like saying value of an astronaut is less than value of a rifle.
Question: what is life like serving on an Imperial vessel? keep up the good work.

Cory Dismuke necrons can't be captured as the teleport away upon death or destroy there corpses. The imperium also barley knows necron tech.

maybe i missheard but didn't he say "girded in kilometers..."? In this part he is describing the plating of the ship. Legth on it self is of no importance to that topic.
