  • The Riese and Muller Homage has always been very popular in our shop. The Homage has recently gotten a massive update with a bunch of new and improved features. It now includes the 4th Generation Bosch Motor, which is available in both the CX and Speed variety. We also see more integration with the batteries including an option for dual powertube batteries which is quite cool!
    Let us know what you think of this bike or if you have any other questions!

    Chris, your videos are always very good. I believe that you are one of a very few people who are teaching the public about eBikes. Yes, it’s your livelihood, but you are honest and share what you have learned. If I lived in Southern California or New York City, I would have bought my bike at your shop. Keep up the great work.

    Just got mine yesterday. Ordered in December, was supposed to be here late February. Overall I'm thrilled to get it this early. Rode it once. I was looking for bumps 😊, can barely feel them. I have lower back problems and this bike is awesome.

    I’m a fan of the Homage. For commuting in any weather, the HS version with the eRohloff set up can handle pretty much anything you throw at it and is maintenance free. This is how you turn a 1hour and 10 minute commute by public transport into 45 minutes.

    Ooops…I hit the wrong button…OK…I’m a “Bike Guy” meaning I’m really into the design and technical features of bicycles as well as the ride experience. I’m 72 years old. I’ve had 3 back operations in the last 10 years which resulted in my no longer being able to ride a traditional road bike. So about two years ago I took delivery on a R&M NEVO which brought back the joy of cycling. In late 2020 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease so riding a bicycle the way I want to ride has become a bit more of a challenge and yet riding a bicycle has been clinically proven to be one of the best things that helps slow the progression of this disease. So riding has taken on a whole new meaning for me. I’ve studied and researched countless full suspension ebikes that can be set up with a dropper seat post and nothing even comes close to the R&M Homage. In my opinion no matter what type, category or brand of bike that’s out there, nothing can come close to the Homage. I’ll be ordering one very shortly and hopefully the current chaos in the industry won’t mess things up too bad for an early 2021 delivery.

    You know one feature I'd love to see on a R&M (or any bike for that matter) is the ability to raise and lower the handlebars either electronically or in a similar fashion to the seat dropper post. Sometimes you want the bar higher to reduce fatigue on long trips and other times you want a more aerodynamic stance to make the best of slopes. Just a thought that I hope comes true.

    Full suspension commuters make a lot of sense in Europe because of the C-o-o-o-b-b-b-b-l-e-s-t-o-o-o-o-n-e. But even regardless of the road surface it's still super handy to be able to hop down curbs without worrying about being thrown all over the place especially when you're loaded up with groceries or have a child seat on the back.

      True, Propel is, with Citrus bikes, the best Channel about Riese& Müller.
      Also, interesting how american ppl seem not to complain about the price like Germans do.
      In Germany you can work hard and earn a lot, but it’s socially not much accepted to show it.

    I have already made a small tour in hilly country around Toulouse. I would be perfectly happy with no suspension at all by the way, but if you go trew a big bumb, it would be nice that both your wheeles can handle it. But most bicycles do not offer that, kind of no thinking. I am not happy with my front suspension for that reason, give me no suspension at all. That is not an easy motion for the wrist to be doing all the time. I tried the automatic shifting on a Specialized bike with an Enviolo hub and couldn't believe how fun it was. Not sure I would get another bike without it. Also I would like to know how easy it is to use the electronic shifter buttons on the R&M and when you would even need them with an auto shifting bike ? My Vado with the auto has no additional shifting buttons and I don't find a need for them. Thanks

    After nearly 3 months (and 2 transports between France and Germany...) I have my Homage back !
    Front carrier and bag have been installed (for the time being, I am not fond of this front bag because it is not practical at all to close it).
    Now I need to shorten a bit the handlebar (which is more than 70 cm wide, that is far too wide for my tastes, and my shoulders and arms).
    Looking to the fork, I have been surprised to discover that this Suntour Aion is for 29' wheel, according to stickers on it, and not for 27.5.
    Second surprise comes from R&M site: according to new specifications, a Marzocchi fork (Marzocchi Bomber Z2, Air, tapered, 100mm) should be installed at front of the Homage, instead of the Suntour Aion.
    Do you know why this change occurs ?
    Edit: I have checked some other R&M bikes'specifications: other bikes (Delite, Superdelite, Supercharger) use also Mazorchi forks, instead of Suntour.

    FIRST‼️ My World Champion medal awaits. When I've actually watched the video, I will comment further‼️
    O.K., Chris, I've watched your video, and, straightaway, I must say I like the increase in levity and naturalness - with every new video you look less and less like a rabbit caught in the headlights - and I really, really like the increased participation of the absolutely charming young lady associate. I'm referring, of course, to the lady who, previously, patiently and painstakingly explained acronym to you.
    Your appraisal of the Homage is, as we have come to expect, nonpareil. Your combination of hard facts, personal opinion, and real-world experience, delivers a comprehensive review that I've never seen equalled, let alone bettered.
    The bike itself is an absolute world beater, and has replaced the Superdelite as my bike of choice. Once the world has returned to, for want of a better word, normal, I'll be out there shopping.

    2. can you please advise best frame size i am 186cm is 54 or 58 better?
    3.if bike was dropped or in a minor accident are parts avaiable off the shelf or is the wait time considerable where bike would be off the road.

    Hi Chris, quick question.
    What is the lifespan in the Bosch motor?
    How long do they plan on stocking these particular motors and parts for them?
    Where my question is coming from us the integration of the motor with the frame. It seems to me if they are already in generation 4, and the shape changed each generation, then the lifespan of this very expensive bike will be limited?

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 3 lety +1

      There is a minimum commitment to support the system for 7 years after production stops, but the reality is Bosch won’t stand in anyone’s way if they stop offering this. Think of the way the automotive market works. Service kits already exist for older systems that need it and backwards compatibility is baked into the Bosch model.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! Glad you like it. The idea is that you adjust the optimal height to the fully extended seatpost length. So when you drop down are you going to go as low as you can go I wanna go back up it’ll get you exactly where you need to be

    • @ecoworrier
      @ecoworrier Před 3 lety

      There are two parts to the seat post tube, a fixed part at the base which you can adjust up and down to your height like a normal seat post, then an upper part which you can raise and lower to any position between the top and bottom stops (over maybe 7 inches range).
      First set the bottom part to your height with full extension on the top part. The bike shop should do this when you collect.
      When your weight is on the seat and you push the lever, the seat will drop all the way to the bottom stop. Then stand up on the pedals, hit the lever and the seat will rise up until it meets your butt or the top stop. So it's kind of self adjusting. Or you can crouch lower and it will stop lower when it hits your butt. Its adjustable to anywhere in that 7 inch range.
      My son is shorter than me and it's really nice to adjust it quickly to his leg length when he wants to ride it. He pushes it down with his forearm, gets on, stands up on the pedals at full leg extension and the seat raises to meet his butt and stops. Let go of the lever and its locked off at the perfect height for him. Super gadget.

    • @Propelbikes

      350lbs is beyond the recommended weight and you would likely bottom out the suspension. I think a hardtail with wide tires and a suspension post is a better way to go. The Kinect XXL is a great post as well.
