I'll be doing the project and posting shorter progress videos as I work on it. After it's done, I'll put all of those short videos together into a full build video and post that on my main channel.

That sled looks awesome. I'm not a fan of the subtitles personally, but for the people who need them, they will be helpful. So, keep the subtitles.
I actually had to go back and re watch the video, I didn't even notice them the first time, they weren't intrusive so I missed them.
The chair project, youll be sitting on that one for a while 😂
I was not a fan of the sub titles. You have a good video format and you make good videos. Please take this into consideration. Let CZcams handle the subtitles, you handle the awesome wood working.

As an aside, CZcams occasionally produces some ridiculous Chenglish in the subtitles, but nothing you can't figure out.
My understanding is you can add your own subtitle track rather than burning them into the video. Meaning, you can still make your own subtitles like you did, but instead add them to CZcams to be toggle-able. (This is different from the auto-generated captions.)
I saw some pretty drastic comments on the other video about the video being "unwatchable"... it wasn't even close to that, but it was an unnecessary distraction in my opinion.

Agreed, I find subtitles distracting and tend to focus there rather than on the content. Seems to be a trend from TikTok where they figure people watch stuff on mute and maybe it doesn't have built in CC. Only thing worse is when videos highlight each word as they're saying it, like its for toddlers learning to read.
All good feedback. I'm going to try the subtitles one more time a bit differently and see how that goes. At this point opinion is pretty much split on the question, with very little negative response in the video itself.
I also may try it with these videos, since these are all talking and you can use it as a handy way to stop having to look at my face for 10 minutes :)

I commented on the build video, stating i loved what you built, but wasn't keen on the subtles. My reasoning was i found it to be distracting. My two cents
English is not my primary language so I often enable subtitles on some videos but not always. I prefer to have the option to disable them even if the auto generated one are not perfect.

I like your embedded subtitles. I often watch your vids in bed, don't use headphones/ear buds so switch on the subs and have the audio switched off so as not to annoy my wife. The issue with YT's own generated subtitles is the timings and how they can be displayed, often making it challenging or confusing to read. Your version of subs were much better.
Subtitles are great,I like that you get to proof read,increases overall quality and I suspect that the synchronization would be better

I like the subtitles. Sometimes, I get a bit further away from the speakers than I thought I'd be, or there's noise that makes it hard to hear, so it's nice to have. And of course it's good for anyone that has a hearing impairment.

Did not mind the subtitle because they were out of the way and they are a quick reference on what was said if I missed it but your narrate well
Oh the subtitles, I would not burn them into the video. CZcams auto generation isn't as good as Premiere or Davinci and they both give you more control. You can still use the editors generated subtitles while giving the viewer the ability to turn them on/off. Just generate the cap file in your editor and upload that to CZcams.
You asked for input on the subtitles, so here goes; I like it, but for a reason you probably won't hear from others. I often pause a video to see/read something before it scrolls off. With the subtitles, the progress bar which appears when pausing does not cover up part of the video, which I appreciate a great deal. I wish all content creators would do this. Many is the time where a screen with text is included in a video which would scroll off too soon if not paused, and if paused, the bottom of the text would be covered. Great job!👍
In the build video I called it a jig, but it's a sled. It looks like a useful sled. I like it.
I use to dislike subtitles but after watching movies with my daughter I'm use to them now. Her generation is a bit disabled so they need the subs.
I think in general young people are more used to subtitles in the videos they watch. It's us old guys that get easily distracted :)

I am not a fan of subtitles hard coded in the video. At least the way you did it, i was able to zoom in and eliminate them. I still watched the whole video liked it.
Agreed, too distracting. I moved the window down, partially off the screen to "cover them up," couldn't watch otherwise
The subtitles don't matter to me one way or another. I honestly don't remember looking at them at all during the video.

I am very fortunate to still have perfect hearing so I don't need subtitles but, if they help one person with a hearing impairment, I'm all for them.

I quite enjoyed the subtitles. In particular, the placement below the video vs regular style of overlay

I don't mind the subs, however if you already have the script I believe it should be better to upload it as an English subtitle so that people who need them can turn it on and then configure their styles (many prefer using yellow letters with black borders, for example). When you press the CC it would display your English subs instead of the auto-generated CC.
Is there going to be plans for the sled that would be cool for making picture frames
... moving on to some other minor thing to complain about ... CZcams keeps notifying me about your Scrap Bin videos before it tells me about the main channel video ;)

Depends. Sometimes I'm all charged up, so...
as a non native speaker, im not a fan of the subtitles since they take my eye and i watch them instead of the video. on the other hand, as a non native speaker sometimes i miss a part and the subs come in handy to catch it all. also it helps with reading and writing skills. conclusion: not a fan but i dont mind them. if you keep them its fine with me :) and yes, they didnt take much viewing real estate so that was a good decision

I am fine either way with the subtitles. However, I really dislike overly intense music that a few other channels use. You are running a piece of wood through a saw, this is not "Mission Impossible". I really do like your ending segments.

Yes, get into the content, no music or "memes", audio at the end is cool.
As a non-native English speaker, subtitles can be handy for me (especially when there is a lot of background noise or people speak with a heavy regional accent) but so far I haven’t ever needed any for your videos and I find them slightly distracting as I tend to read them even though I don’t need them, moving the focus away from the actual content.
Are people in Canada really human?
Not a fan of the subtitles. Different part of the brain trying to read which distracts from the video. Leave it optional. Nobody was complaining...
