I think everyone needs a 3d printer. I have used it for woodworking, repairs around the house, and a hundred other things. Absolutely a great tool.
You could shoot these videos just about anywhere and I’d still enjoy them. Loved the small parts organizer!

I like the video shot in your new office. Many of us watched the evolution of your house from when you first bought it (potable water, plumbing, bathroom\kitchen remodel, etc.) Would you consider a brief house update video?

John I produce tool accessories and have been using printer for my routing jigs. I recently did a ported 10" sub where I used a printed port that was actually the brace for the box. It makes for some incredibly interesting possibilities being able to print.
I would recommend that you also get an AMS for the Bambulab.
They work so great and you have a ton of more Options and handling material changes are a breeze with them.
I purchased my first 3D printer in Feb 2018. I have printed many items, some parts for jigs and tools, and some parts to repair things.
I upgraded to a Core XY printer in Nov 2023 for the much faster print speed.
I think many hobbyists would find a 3D printer useful.

I bought the P1P a few months back based on Shop Nation’s recommendation. Been very happy with it.

I got my first 3D printer about 6 months ago and more recently upgraded to a K1 Max. I find it really useful in making things that complement my woodworking hobby, among other things, of course.

Regardless of where you stage these videos, I'm a fan. I am most interested in following your 3d design and prototyping process. I suspect the new material will lead to some re-learning of your design approach.
I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with the 3D printer. Location... the background doesn't mstter because it's all about the interesting content you produce so work where you feel comfortable.

I’ve been looking at getting a 3D printer. My daughter, who is an electrical engineer, wants to go in on one with me, maybe I should take her up on the option…?
I colleague of mine has 3d printed a couple parts for me and I know I would have uses for it but I've always waited a bit for the tech to mature and it looks like it has. I think once you have one you'll find more uses for it, like prototyping.
I'm not use to you talking from that room yet but if your not doing a build video then I don't see the reason to go out to your shop just to talk. That room is just fine.
John, the thing that came to mind for the 3D printer was the bell end of speaker ports....
Don’t mind at all the new room and it will be for shure more comfortable in wintertime for you.
With all the changes coming up in the house, does that mean a reviving of ’’ I build it home ’’ channel or will it just go on the main channel?
I probably won't film any of the changes I make to set up the hobby room, but will show it after I'm done on my audio channel.

I think that the editing room looks a little cramped. A good alternative would be to use your future hobby room. I prefer your videos when you are standing and have the room for props. You seem more relaxed yet able to be more animated when you are standing. Your office would work for a podcast but not a video IMO. I am happy that you got a 3D printer and that you are already putting it to work.

Excuse me for my ignorance, but why do the full-extension runners have to be joined at the back? I'm a bit confused. In my mind the different sides work independently from one another and I cannot wrap my head around it.
You should start selling your 3d prints. That shop nation guy seems to have found quite a niche with 3d printing.
At the very least with a 3D printer you now can fabricate any dust port adapter you could ever need, plus a completely custom electronics project box instead of ordering one online and waiting a few days :)
The main thing I find with having printers is it frees up time. Theres thing you could just make yourself and not print or you could print them while you are getting something else done.

John, you've sold me, can I buy one? I dont have a 3d printer.
I've got the Bambu P1S with AMS, two A1's with AMS, a K1 Max, a Kobra 2 Max and a QIDI X Max 3. The Bambus are the best all-around, but the Max is solid and it's bigger. What are you using for design, John? I think you'll find the market for functional 3D prints and videos about them is much bigger than you assume. You made a solid choice although I'm curious why you didn't spring for for the extra $100 for the P1S since it gives you access to filaments like ASA, ABS and more of the engineering grade stuff. But what you have is enough for most things. If you're not already, I recommend you start moving toward PETG, which is about he same price but is stronger and more resistant and food safe. I buy that stuff from Sun Lu ten kilos at a time. Because I'm cheap.
I didn't want to spend more than I have to, but also didn't want to set myself up for a bad experience to start out. Now that I know I'll actually use the thing, I can upgrade it as I need to.
I'm not sure how you've faired, but holy shit, this has been the mildest winter here. It hit 60 F here today, and it's going to be even warmer tomorrow.
Been better than most. Less snow, less cold, and it seems to be flying by quite quickly :)
The only problem I see with the room is that you won't be able to do voice-overs while the CnC or the laundry is running. That's not the end of the world.
