      @SleepyOwl101 They aren't economically viable. It is unlikely that you will get more benefit out of them compared to the effort put in.
      You could do things to tweak that, like modifying the game to support more players. or introduce cheaper (relatively) "bulk production" mechanics, or make non-bulk production more expensive but out of the box, it's easy enough for players to do everything themselves (and has to be since singleplayer exists)... so many do.

    I miss the transitionary phase between the Yogcastian Story-Telling phase, and the focus on Modded minecraft. A lot of playthroughs were generated at the time, especially by the Yogscast themselves (The "Tekkit Days," for my fellow Yognaughts), which were effectively just modpack playthroughs, but added an element of forced story in the background to keep things from stagnating.
    I wonder from time to time what the next phase will be, what the next "Minecraft Generation" is interested in. I think we might see a move back towards complex builds, but less with a view for aestetics, and more a view for rarity. Especially with Netherite; even having a 3x3x3 base on a survival world made of netherite would be insane, and I feel the natural human tendency for collection will continue to influence this variety of play.

    • @GuiSmith
      @GuiSmith Před 4 lety +22

      I see some really big shifts coming. The modded world is probably going to have some old mods burn out harder than when 1.10 was immediately succeeded by one update then another. Building continues to trend towards variety, less building up and more out. We get "town style" bases all the time. I've made multiple. Multiplayer is a huge focus and ideal place to play. Minigames probably will have a resurgence again at some point, though the ones that exist now continue to be lucrative on Bedrock (because there are so few large public ones). Vanilla seems to be in again, we seem to be falling off of mega-farms, and I think people are still somewhat hooked on tweaks instead of massive changes. A ton of vanilla+ mods, datapacks, and resourcepacks are being made to tinker with the game without shoving a completely new system on top of it all.

If Markiplier didn't make that video of him playing fnaf, it almost certainly wouldn't have gotten to where it got to. The same is with Minecraft. Like everything was mysterious and untamed, but maybe that had more to do with my unfamiliarity with the game mechanics at the time. Minecraft has achieved something that I have never seen in other games before: A completely blank canvas.
    All other games still have "lines" that you need to draw into, so when CZcamsrs play other games, yes it's different, but it all looks the same, just with a different commentator. Minecraft on the other hand allows CZcamsrs to incorporate their personality into the game almost flawlessly. That is why every generation always gets renewed not because of the "canvas" (Minecraft) that gets renewed but a new style of "painting". If you look at all of the big Minecraft CZcamsrs, you'll see almost all of them have stumbled upon this.
    I myself am about to start something new. And I am ecstatic to see where it will go! Let's see if my theory holds water :)

    • @InventorZahran
      @InventorZahran Před 2 lety +1

      Good point! With linear, narrative-driven games, I usually only watch one 'Tuber's playthrough. That way I can experience the story even if I'm not interested in actually playing it. But once I've seen it, there's nothing left to see. Of course not all games are linear like that, and some types of games can offer many different ways to play. Minecraft just takes that creative freedom and open-endedness further than almost anything else, enabling the diversity of experiences we see and play today.

      I feel on the contrary. Minecraft during its dark age when it was regarded as a kids game, we were persecuted for playing MC, we were alone and voicing our opinions on the game had to be discrete. Moreover, the fanbase felt dwindling and the game dying. The resurgence phase lifted the game back to relevancy and made us in the green zone. With its old players back in Minecraft, and the game thrusting forth towards its second golden age is amazing. I say that the resurgence phase is the renaissance era to the game, and certainly is a great miracle to have happened.

    For me the biggest shift I've noticed over the years that wasn't some mere trend kicked off by some CZcamsr that usually only lasted a year has been the dismissal there for a while of the technical community by the wider community and then the technical community becoming more and more a key part of the scene. I remember a time when even a basic iron farm was enough to get banned form some servers , mostly as an early adopter of a more technical style of playing I was on the receiving end more than once.
    Which I think is part of what lead to the technical community kind of disappearing there for a while either into mostly playing single player or on dedicated technical servers, some servers I would argue just slowly drifted into being technical servers from them having older and longer term players. But now that it's became such a core part of the game for so many I've noticed that the a lot of the technical survival players that do CZcams have seen massive surges in subscriber count the last year or two.

    I remember the mod spotlight days very fondly, watching hours of mod playthroughs and reviews.
    I've been playing the Enigmatica 2 Expert modpack the last couple weeks, and I am beyond words at how far the modding community has come since the OG Tekkit days.
    Sure, IndustrialCraft 2 is still here, but TMI and NEI are both gone, replaced with JEI.
    Buildcraft pipes and quarry are gone, replaced with Thermal Expansion itemducts and the Digital Miner or Ender Quarry.
    Redpower came and went, got remade from scratch, then went again.
    The introduction of the oredictionary and standardisations changed modpack gameplay entirely.
    Equivalent Exchange 2 was the backbone of Tekkit playthroughs, then vanished entirely after EE3.
    In my original tekkit base, the redpower panels didn't hide the buildcraft pipes under my floor. Now the cable facades work on anything.
    I remember waiting over a week for the Yogcast Voltz episode 'The Bomb' to come out, knowing full well what Red Matter explosives did.
