I have little sympathy for the Republican Party, but this is actually quite standard around the world--a party has official positions it expects members to adhere to, and members who openly defy those positions can be subject to party discipline up to and including having their party endorsement withdrawn. This is quite common in the UK for example. Now, the official position of the Republican Party happens to be fascism, but that is an entirely different issue

He would have won the primary in 2016 if not for the machinations of the Clinton/Obama party managers, with a big assist from corporate media. For example, Phil Griffin, head hancho at MSNBC, wouldn't even allow Ed Schultz (who was already there in Vermont with Bernie's family) to announce Bernie's decision to run. Not on _their_ air. What most people still don't get is that _we_ don't decide who wins the nomination. The same thing happened in 2020. After Bernie won four out of the first five states, Obama dropped a dime, then, literally overnight, virtually all of the many Democrats seeking the nomination dropped out and endorsed Joe Biden - right before Super Tuesday. All of that while the corporate media executed their 'Bernie Blackout'...pretended like he didn't even exist. The puppet masters behind the scenes were fine with Biden _or_ Trump, but they couldn't abide someone like Sanders, who genuinely wants to make things better for the average American.
The people who elect democrats won’t vote for a women any time soon. I am left wing af but Sarah Palin was a VP candidate first, Margaret thatcher was PM decades ago and Canada had a conservative female PM for a short time.
