    I just bought their platinum AGM battery ($250+tax). Put it my truck,and the battery was down to 25%. Took it straight back to O Riley's and they would not exchange it. They offered to charge it for me if I wanted to wait in the store for an hr or more. They even said I could borrow their tools to get it out and bring it into the store for them. Never again! O'Reilly's will never get another dime from me!

      How long after you bought it was down to 25 per cent? The battery needs to be checked if It's bad and still under warranty, you get a new one. Sometimes the alternator is bad. Also you need to be respectful

    I was looking for a battery for my car and kept finding store branded, identical looking batteries on the shelves with stickers ranging from, Made in USA, Made in China and Made in Germany. This has happened at O'Reilly's, but at AutoZone as well. So there has to be clearly more than the 2x suppliers mentioned in this video. Further, I could not even find a one battery with decals mounted accurately, despite the approx. $300 asking price. For a company, not even caring to mount their advertising decals accurately hints volumes about their quality control of the hidden internals.

    In two years I've had to replace three Super Start batteries, They only last about 9 months max.

  • @alleyratAnderson

    I recently bought the best battery that O' Riley's sells for $230, and it went bad in 3 months, so I returned it for another of the same type, and it went bad in a month. So I then traded that one for the next cheapest battery, and this one is holding a charge. My pickup's current draw is only 3mA. It seems that they had a bad run of batteries, perhaps they weren't properly filled. I could fully charge the batteries, but in 5 days they were completely dead if I didn't run my pickup during that time.

    Quality is down %300 in the last 3 years. Their motorcycle batteries will only last for 6months now, even on a battery tender.
    They should cut their prices in HALF to reflect the new quality level.

      @kenji4861 oh do they?!? A hassle for sure! But hopefully it will at least be a data point on their quality.
      Thanks for the tip! I should looked

      I found this out the hard way, I bought a Lead Acid Motorcycle battery and road all last season and then put it on a Noco trickle charger that’s supposed to keep it charged all seasons, all weather.
      Come this riding season and it barely cranks over and barely holds a charge.

    When you say that premium and extreme batteries are better built, what does that mean? What inside the battery actually makes them "better"?

    • @mrtopcat2
      @mrtopcat2 Před 8 měsíci +3

      I have always suspected that in many if not most instances the difference was only in the warranty terms, with the premium line having a longer warranty.

    • @supermarioblue64
      @supermarioblue64 Před 3 měsíci

      Premiums, and Extremes also have a higher CCA, and CA (Cold Cranking Amps & Cranking Amps) That's only about it, besides the warranty period.

  • @randyroebauch1466

    They warranty for 3 years mine dies in two. How many times can you claim a battery warranty if it dies before the warranty is up with oriellys ? They told me once I was told by others not true

    • @supermarioblue64
      @supermarioblue64 Před 3 měsíci

      If we see an excess of 3+ batteries in the warranty period, with your warranty history, there's something going on with the vehicle and we recommending taking it to a garage, such as if its an alternator, or there's a parasitic drain on the battery. As long as its within the warranty period, I warranty replace it from the original purchase date. Any time we test and see Test & Charge, or straight up bad battery, that's when I run the replacement.

      Sucks you can’t just return the damn thing and get your money back back once it’s in? Had to do a warranty claim on one and got the same battery but new.

    I'm on my 3rd Superstart from O'Reilly's in about 5 years. Not happy. I need a new battery badly. My current one says its from Mexico. Thirty years ago, Diehards were my go to battery and I could get 7 years out of them before I noticed that they were just getting tired during winter startups. Though anecdotal, EVERYONE I talk to says the same thing. Battery quality sucks now. They don't last as long. You pay two to three times more for them. The warranties are half what they used to be. I also heard that 3 out of 10 are garbage right off the shelf. That's my experience too.

    Why does the super start premium have a Made in the USA sticker on it while the other 2 higher quality batteries don't? I believe All East Penn batteries are made in USA.

    is agm super start battery good?

    • @markb1911
      @markb1911 Před 4 měsíci +2

      It really just depends on your application for the battery, what type of vehicle it’s going to be used in.
      AGM batteries are the same electric chemistry as lead-acid batteries. They are lead acid batteries that have fiberglass matting between the lead plates that soaks up the liquid and “suspends” it, kind of like water gets absorbed into a sponge.
      In a regular lead-acid there is only liquid between the plates. This means that the battery can only be used in the upright position, as it will spill acid out of the vents on top if used in any other manner.
      For applications with a lot of movement and the possibility where the battery could flip upside down, such as ATV’s or motorcycles, or where the battery needs to be used at an angle and not upright in position, the Absorbed Glass Matt lead-acid battery is used; as the acid is suspended in the fiberglass, and will not slosh or spill out.
      In my experience, AGM batteries do not last as long as regular lead acid batteries, even when maintained.

    What are “leed acid batteries”?
    If you cant even pronounce lead properly you most likely dont know that these batteries contain lead, not leed.
