  • In this video Jimmy teaches you how we make chai latte here at Artisti Coffee Roastery using the four different chai products that we stock and sell. As Jimmy says in the video "not everyone drinks coffee" so as a cafe you need to offer tasty alternatives such as a good chai latte.
    Chai is a popular coffee shop beverage here in Australia so it's important to understand how to serve them and serve them well. Here at Artisti we offer both an organic and a regular chai powder option. We also serve a syrup as well as a more wholesome brewed tea like sticky chai drink.
    The products we use are all Chai Me products and Jimmy shows you how we like to prepare and serve each option. They are all quite simple to make both at home or in the cafe and should definitely be apart of any good cafe drinks menu.
    Thanks so much for watching! 🤟

    We use loose leaves in a mobile environment, so it's good to know that you can safely steam milk with tea and spices in it.

    In Singapore, we do see a few brands of chai. Prana, Grounded Pleasures, chai me, and a bunch of different chai syrups. Of course, we have some places that blend their own in-house recipe too :)
    Most seem to work quite well with oat milk

      Sounds like lots of Aussie brands are getting over there. Amazing if they can make their own mix.

    we use Calmer Sutra fresh chai... it's so good. we use the steeping method of fresh chai and add honey. It really is next level. nice option if you dont want coffee but don't want chocolate either. also makes an amazing dirty chai

    Appreciate that, i found that depending on which milk we use we might need to put slightly more powder.

      Yep, it’s always worth testing each drink with different milks.
      Which is your favourite milk?

    I am confused you said in the beving did the sticky chai that you were adding hot water to “brewed chai”. Does the chai need to be pre brewed ? Or is it ready for use out of the package ?

    When brewing sticky chai, could you do 2 mins in the boiling water, steam the soymilk separately in another jug, then grab a mug and strain the chai mix out so it’s just the water that has steeped 2 mins of tea. Then pour the steamed soy milk into the mug? My homemade soymilk is so thick that it’s a pain trying to strain chai mix and soymilk all at the same time into my mug. Hope that makes sense.
    Or is the second minute of steeping with the chai mix in milk important to make the flavour better?
    Thank you.

    Why can you not occasionally steam Chai powder with milk if you purge straight away and wipe the wand? My experience is that it is a lot creamier and nicer than if milk added to dissolved chai water paste. What damage can it do to the steam wand?

    Would love to see how you sort out iced drinks. I was thinking of foaming milk with a french press or just putting some ice in the pitcher and steaming it so i get the foam but no temperature.

    IS there any brand of Chai powder or syrup in Australia that is not overly sweet?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před rokem +3

      Anything that has a pre made product will be sweet, you can make your own with chai tea, brew it in a pot and add your milk and sweeten to your taste

    How much water into the chai leaves? How much milk do you put in to the first chai leaves?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před rokem

      about 50ml boiling water, than as much milk as you need for the size of cup you want. Roughly 250ml.

    Hi. In the shop I work at they mix mocha powder with milk and then steam in a pitcher. Why is it bad to do this?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před rokem +1

      It’s bad for the steam wand as the sugar in the chocolate goes up and crystallises. Also, if you have left over milk, you’ve ripped off the customer of their chocolate and your recipe will always be different.

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před rokem

      It’s roughly 15g of chai. Always best to taste your own recipe based on your chai, size of the glass and amount of chai needed.

  • @realMasterprocrastinator

    I have a question, why is it called a chai latte instead of just being called chai?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před rokem +4

      Chai is the reference to the tea origins of the spices, brewed like tea, the latte is the newer version of the drink as it incorporates foamed milk like a latte.
