I know there are much older artifacts in the world, but still, it amazes me that a 195-year-old guitar has survived that long in such remarkable condition. I'd love to know its history (how many owners, how many countries it has been in).
This is why we can still have good things in this world. I have listened to several videos already. it's so beautiful and the harmony hits me so good. I close my eyes and forget everything for a moment.
Another beautiful piece... I can only imagine how great it'd be to play such old and amazing guitars. Thank you for sharing!
Miss Whittinham, I am absolutely Captivated by your talents and ability to play music with a precision that she do. I am an absolute beginner guitar at the age of 62. After a stroke in 2019 I needed something to help me rehabilitate my left hand at the suggestion of a physical therapist I purchased a guitar and out slowly began to learn how to play chords and rhythm guitar. What I have realized at this time that I have perhaps purchased the wrong guitar and are now wishing I could find one that would help me to play music and learn to read music like I’ve never been able to do in the past. You have introduced me to a different genre music that I’ve never heard before and I appreciate that. I am a fan and will continue to be a parent as long as you’re here on CZcams thank you sincerely Timothy Lorey
Well, i see that your post is over a year old. Nonetheless i like to share my thoughts and my own experience.
The beginner cares about the equipment, the professional cares about the money, but the master cares about the music.
Believe me, it is the player that makes 95% of the tone. The differences in the instruments *do* exist, but a good player can still equalize them to a certain point. And they do that automatically and on the fly, often not knowing exactly what they would complain about. I believe that is a "This thing just plays and sounds what i intended it to!" - but still we are talking about 5% of sound and playability that the instrument is responsible for. Furthermore, not every instrument is great for each genre. All that leads me to the assumption that you should go to *experienced* luthiers and tell them what you like to play and how much money you are willing to spend. They will choose an instrument that matches your special needs. They see by far more then you might expect from them, just from how you handle the instrument.
But still the picture is: *You* make the sound by using the instrument, not vice versa.
OK. In the end of the Day, Mr. J. S. Bach is My favorit, but I must say, that I AM very, very glad that Alexandra has not forgotten this Lively piece.
Beautiful.... both the player & the rendition ~
Rich mellow sound from all 4 guitars in this wonderful piece, wonderfully played (as usual)
☺️💖
How very interesting! Lacote was the guitar Mme Pratten grenerally favoured, that example seemed to have a very large body for such an early date. She would also have known the 2nd maker, while the Ramirez was made around the time she died. I wonder if the Martin is X braced, it sounded a bit like a steel-string with nylons on.
Thank you Alex, enjoyed your new video about upcoming releases. Always, you are a treat to behold. Thank you for your candidness. A pleasure indeed.
I think I've got it now, after listening to the video a few times. First I thought number 3 is my favorite but it's number 4, the "José Ramirez" guitar. I like it when the tone is a bit warmer but not too warm. The José Ramirez has a warm tone but a little brighter than the C. F. Martin.
Beautiful playing, Alexandra. Thanks a lot. 😘
Yes I was thinking the same
Yes, I agree. Number 4 - the Ramirez - is outstanding.
first two were my favorite... there's a delicacy to the sound that you just don't get with modern instruments, and that piece just fits on them.
Great video! All sound fantastic!
I love the way you play the guitar. And it helps me play and learns to play the classical guitar.Thank you for that😘
Hermoso Alejandra, gracias por tanta sensibilidad
Magnifico, muy cálida tu interpretacion!
Hello Alexandra. Looking forward to it
Bravissima Alexandra! 👏👏👏. Stupendo. Ottima esecuzione 😘
Excellent and beautiful
Thank you
Great job!
Gorgeous guitars, all of them , and I thought you looked particularly happy playing the 1895 Jose Ramirez .... :)
Thanks Alex . I always feel joyful when you make music .
They all sounded fantastic very well balanced and clear! Last one was brighter more projection. First two was almost the same with the first having a little more bass. Third was most balanced of the four and my favorite.
Honestly all four guitars sound wonderful! This may have something to do with the person who is playing them! 🤓
Sound beautiful… I have literally been playing this song tonight… it’s a trinity grade 7 piece. Doesn’t sound quite like this when I play it though. 😂 a great video!
Alexandra, congratulations. A wonderful musician , a perfect technique, and a very especial talent in interpretation.
All have beautiful tone but the Ramirez stands out to me as the most balanced. The opening measures were familiar to me from a little end piece I made up from the tones of any bar chord and its half step neighbor(E to F), starting from the first string then a half tone up, 2nd string then half step up and so on.
Es un deleite escucharte, relajante, es magistral tu interpretación, me agrada esta música.
U r become a famous
For me, it's the Ramirez 😊, wonderful video ty
Thank you, Alexandra🐾...
It's not the guitar, it is you who make the instrument sound great.
Beautiful piece on amazing sounding truly classic classical instruments. Well done!
Mesmerisingly beautiful. 🎶🎶
Fabulous, just fabulous. 👏👏👏👏👏
2-Roudhloff...gave me shivers up and down my spine 💜🎶💜
ギター演奏のライブ配信を視聴できて嬉しいですありがとう😉👍🎶
Beautiful!!
Beautifully played, as always. Had to listen to all four guitars several times, to get an impression. Preferred the lovely mellow tone of the Lacote. I suppose that just as "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", so is the loveliness of music in the ear of the hearer.
Чувственно и нежно! Спасибо!
"José Ramirez", merci pour ce partage.
WOW !!! Greetings from Estonia.
Classic music sounds expressed nostalgic mood
Great!!!
Lovely
I discover your videos in March 2022.
I played (tried to play?) classical guitar since my college days in 1970s.
I had a Garcia (made in Japan), a Takamine which I gave away 12 years ago. Now I own 2 Kremona Sofia SC, inexpensive but beautiful.
My request, on behalf of all guitar players, is
an old piece by King Alfonso El Savio X,
El Cantigas De Santa Maria.
Please?
🙏
As always... thank you.😉
It would be really cool if a major company like Yamaha made replicas of guitars from the 1800's. I want an 1834 Martin-Stauffer so bad but getting one custom made would cost thousands.
Выше всяческих похвал! 👍👍👍👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👍👍👍
from earlier comments I got the impression you were Russian but now know you are decidedly not but you are a masterful guitar player and very glad to be included in your channel.
That was really nice. Went perfect with my morning coffee.
Beautiful
Great job
Beautiful ❤️🧡❤️
Delightful in all regards.
Great
❤️❤️❤️
Nice timbre and bass balance. Wonderully played
very sweet
I would be so nervous even touching those vintage guitars, let alone giving such a brilliant performance on them!
👍👍👍
😊 ✨
The four are very beautiful. The 1st sounds like a banjo in an old western 😃.
♥️
You are amazing
Alexandre votre talent n'a d'égal que votre beauté
Hej Alex, i love the Ramirez, oh so what, sorry, shure, i love your playing!
The Ramirez , the last one Washington certainly a very Nice guitar. But aiso nummer two Washington beatiful. Thore romantic peaces Alexandra does so very convincingly.
Hey Alexandra could you play "Toreo" of El Tano Gabarri or
"Malagueña" of Ernesto Lecuona? both are awsome spanish guitar songs :)
💙💙
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That piece compliments the tone of the instrument beautifully.
René François Lacôte (1827) is a nice tune, i like it very much, but looks hard to handle for a non professional player like me
C. F. Martin :-) But all are wonderful with the way you pay each one :-)
🤗🤗❤
The last guitar was so piano like incredible. Pity the Martin part was so short - the headstock shape has survived of these years. I can imagine handling such rare and indeed valuable instruments must have been stressful!
Beautiful music performed by a very beautiful person.
🥰
A great performer plays great music.
#3
A truly unsurpassed performance of your Incredibly beautiful covers of this magical music. Thank you Alexandra
👍👏🌹🌹🌹💕.
For me no. 3
I like the C.F Martin's sounds.
1-Ramirez
2-Lacote
The Ramirez is like playing a grand piano compared to the other Parlor like guitars. All are amazing instruments but it is clear why the trend has gone to concert size guitars.
Do they have nylon strings now? What kind of strings were used in 19th century?
Gut trebles and silver wound silk basses.
Ramírez y Martín los mejores
Alexandra thân mến , chúng tôi luôn luôn chờ đón bạn
👌🎵👌🎵👌🎵
💚💛🧡❤️
me inclino por la ÇRamírez
How comes there’s plastic binding on guitar made in 19th century ?
Jose Ramirez by quite a margin..🙂
Your one of a kind youngtimer 🤔🤫😶🌫️
Nice shoulders on that geetar.🥰🥰
Long hours of the right kind of practice--sacrificing your time practicing instead other things---the ability to feel what it is you are trying to put out to the listener. These things are of much greater importance than playing an expensive guitar---make sure your guitar is set up to be as easy to play as possible----then practice, practice and then practice some more.
At the level of this player and the time she has put in to her performance, I think she can indulge in sampling the tone of such rare and expensive instruments.
Yes Rebecca that is a good observation---however, one should not take out a loan to buy an expensive guitar in the hope it will make a dramatic improvement in technique but if you are rich---why not---as long as you donate an equal amount to charity-----@@rebecca4522
Hi Alexandra, I love the way you play guitar, your professionalism and charisma. Would you like to play and show on youtube, Zorba the Greek? As you know is a fast piece which I think you can handle it very well. When are you coming to the U.S.? When that happen, include L.A. in your tour. I'd love to see you performing live. All the best.
The first guitar has sort of a hollow sound. But still Nice.
👋👋👋👋💗🌹💐💟🎶🎶🎵
U r become a faumous guitarist.
The Roudhloff is better defined. The Ramirez the most complete, I think.
I like the older rigs, better.
