Wait, a Vietnam game that does NOT involve the song "Fortunate Son"?!?! Outrageous!
It aint mee it aint mee!!
My dad is dead and in hell, but anytime i want to remember him, I play this game's training course. and then i get PTSD. see you in hell, pops
!!!
Just curious are you perhaps prescribed any type of psychiatric medication
Seroquel is insane. I took 1/2 of one 20 years ago and I still feel it.
Fascinating. I played the PC version of Vietcong. As soon at the menu music started I realized it must be the same version (more or less). That song and three others were made for the game in the style of Jimi Hendrix and others from the era. Ashame this games so bad, the PC version was amazing. Shout out to all those who played it, I had the high score so many games because I learned great camping spots wearing the more camo like Vietcong skin, blended great in with bushes! ^_^ I think my ingame name was Assassin X at the time (you know, cause we were all edgy at the time).
Also I think the PC scores were something between 7 and 8 out of 10 from many outlets at the time. We really need more Vietnam based games. But most are so bad. Even Battlefiled Vietnam was a let down. I am always partial to that war as a game because of the fact Vietcong loved to bled in with the green of the country. Making them so hard to spot. Often mowing down our soldiers easily sadly. Along side deadly traps they would set, and of course the famous tunnel networks. Makes for great gameplay though if you understand their fighting style.
Yeah, the PC versions were terrific for the most part (other than some bugs, especially in the MP at the time) and I had a blast with Vietcong and me and my clan played the MP like crazy. Also if I remember correctly, the MP didn't require a key or anything so basically anyone that wanted to play the MP could just you know, do that thing people might do if they can't afford or get the game properly *wink wink* and the MP stayed alive for years because of that (and because it was fun as hell lol)
PC version had good online used to play it a fair bit
My usernames since early 2000 have all been quotes from le dhoy nut in this game(including this one), I loved the PC game so I couldn't believe I saw vietcong called the one of the worst games ever... oh its the console port no wonder.
I thought the be-wip had a typo calling them Fist Alpha, not First Alpha. But it really is Fist Alpha, what a strange name.
It's Full Metal Jacket but in a Low Budget, love the thumbnail of Peter and Ben.
More like platoon
Shame about the first bit of copyright music, I always dug The Stooges
the abrupt transition from "Now I Wanna Be Your Dog" to the twee stock ukulele-and-glockenspiel music is one of the funniest things this series has ever done
The drill Sgt’s dialogue in the tutorial was some of the most cringy military dialogue I’ve heard in a while (and that’s saying a lot). It’s like the writers watched R. Lee Emery in Full Metal Jacket a few too many times and still didn’t realize why it worked so well there.
Try Vietcong: Tropical Freeze
With new Funky Agent Orange mode!
Coming soon from Game Mill Entertainment: "Viet Kong: Skull Island". Make it happen lads!
I got to sit down and have a chat with a Vietnam war vet recently. His stories were harrowing.
I am a Vietnam war vet and I have to sit down to speak to people... I've got no legs.
I had this on PS2 I absolutely loved it
Peeta and Ben have knocked this out of the park
Vietnam war had the best soundtrack
I’ll never understand why there were so many military shooters for this console generation based on Vietnam. This is like the fourth one you’ve played on WGE between Vidiots and TripleJump and the second an old roommate of mine had for his Xbox (the other being Shellshock: Nam ‘67). Even back then I thought it was in poor taste, it’s the rare war even the American media hasn’t tried to glorify in the past 50 years.
"We didn't loose Vietnam! It was a draw!"
- Kevin Cline, "A Fish Called Wanda".
Thank you for this comment cause I could have SWORN they played this game before. I was having major Deja Vu.
Because. WW2 games were big before this. Vietnam was something different. This is probably the same time that battlefield Vietnam came out.
@@Dustemikkel_Revsay that for the last people in the helicopter leaving Vietnam 😂
Nam was a waste of American lives!! Americans have a new found respect for the men who won ever battle and never got the respect they deserve when they came home
9:43 British Hilbily accent lets go. 😹
I can’t believe DJ Khalid makes an appearance in this game. 21:03
ANOTHER ONE ☝🏻
As a PC player I don't remember this. Still, I've tried and failed to get Vietcong working from the DVDs I have and wish the GoG team would get it to work.
There are tons of sites for abandoned games. I downloaded the game, a patch and bam. Runs on windows 10 with all dlc and no problem.
Finally a game that I actually played! It has almost been 20 years, so I'm biased, but I enjoyed it!
I now have PTSD in 780p
The voice actor just read U.S. Special Forces as Us Special Forces lol 25:00
Military rookie mistake. Always check your compass when you’re heading for South Weast in the deepest parts of the jungle!
I remember playing Vietcong on PC back when it released and enjoying it, that menu music took me back. I may even have finished the campaign, I also played a lot of the multiplayer. The sequel Vietcong 2, now that was proper garbage.
Oh gosh. I forgot about the second one. I think I tried it then went back to the first one.
Good job resisting the temptation to make a joke about the name "Fist Alpha".
This game is so weird and funny at the same time. I love how the voice acting is so bad, the faces are just generic pixels, and how you have to struggle to move around the map. 😆
mechianics just weren't it back then! Miss this, it made games quirky and weird 😅
this was made by the same guys who did Mafia The City Of Lost Heaven (iirc)
I swear you played this before, but searching would suggest not
Edit - turns out the video I was remembering was “Worst Games Ever - Shellshock: Nam '67”
I actually got into these old school shooters recently and the intro to this one hooked me, also In shellshock '67 you get to mow down dozens of female VC because surprise surprise they were also fighting US forces at the time, its a totally more brutal game than this one but I do enjoy them both if not for their honesty, they're different and fun games, haven't tried the PC version of VC.
It'll be nice to see them suffer with a little bit of retro nostalgia from the NES / SNES era
A lot of older games are only worse-than-most because the controls and/or designs make them unfairly difficult, and in some cases they’re just flat-out ugly or boring. PS1 and later games offer a lot more to work with because of the potential for wonky cutscenes, animations, physics and voice acting.
Frontline from the coleco after this would be fitting. My first war shooting game early 80s. Game felt real back then getting shot. Youd feel the hits
I remember playing the PC version of this and thinking it was bloody impossible lol
Yeah. Prepare for angry czech gamers. This is almost national treasure here. :-D
I love how the first half of this video is one uninterrupted string of insults and profanity...and we are all acting like it's white noise 😂. You could also call this 'riding a bus simulator 2005'
You should play conflict: Vietnam. It's much better and it's squad based.
I believe that was the guitar riff from the Jimi Hendrix' song of the same name, Purple Haze.
Purple haze all through my butt
That drill instructor is no Hartman is he? 😆
Another hilarious video! 😂
incase yall were wondering i think the song they had to cover over was "I Wanne Be Your Dog" by the Stooges
“Purple haze” as a tagline is… a choice
5.30 - "Fist Alpha": that is something else entirely 😳
EDIT: it is actually Fist Alpha - I thought it was First Alpha (that would make more sense and be less rude)!
This game is perfect compared to Ho Chi Minh Trail. I got that game when I was 11, from a random store on an out of state trip. It was a static game, you just stood on a hill and shot Vietcong til you died.
No way! I just started playing this 😂
Beard meats food beat Ben Potter's record eating pizza slices in Darlington
"you have lost the game"
Opening with The Stooges is a pretty good hook from the game at least
Another quality PS2 game
Nguyen is pronounced Win basically
How you know?
@@demonreturns4336 Because he does? And it indeed it. It's the "Smith" of Vietnam.
4:17 "Is this music allowed? [I've never heard "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by the Stooges or really listened to music in general, just like I haven't seen any movies and that's okay]" - Peter
I loved Vietnam games as a kid, but I hated this one. Never bothered to finish, got stuck on the trench attack mission
Just checked out if the PC version is still online. It is not, however there are servers people have created for it. Sadly there are only about 16 players right now online. (sigh) I really want to play it again online, er, the PC version that is. However there is a HD remaster at ModDB that supposedly has way more players active online. I may check out that version.
Best intro music on CZcams
Ahhh I remember buying this game from my local blockbusters when they were going out if business
This game was definitely not meant for consoles, I've played the pc version and loved it.
I dare you to take on the 9/11 of video games, Beverly Hills Cop for the PS2
They already did it years ago and it is one of the funniest episodes that they ever did
Spoilers: they had a channel before this one called vidiots and they did it I highly recommended it
They already did, six years ago on Worst Games Ever’s previous home Vidiots.
@@davidstrange6759I miss that brief period when phone calls to Simon Miller were a semi-regular feature on WGE.
@@davidstrange6759 I'll have to check again. It wasn't showing up for me
I watch many of these videos and I’m like I used to have most of these games, I miss my massive collection
After over 5 years watching Worst Games Ever I can finally say I had this game (on PC) and I thought it was good!!
I appreciated the guerilla warfare joke
I haven't played the expansion "Purple Haze" but that Vietcong base game is incredible. One of the most immersive single player military games, especially from this era.
Purple haze was the console port, and I agree the PC game was great (All my user names are quotes from it lol)
Ben's hair looks lovely!
WOOT New Thumbnail Alert! Our bois looking very cute ❤
@@Spacething7474 Not the worst thumbnail art, just worse than most
I remember my local big Tesco had LCD screens around the entertainment section when this released. It got advertised a lot on those. As did Halo 2. I did try this game not long ago and it's so poor for PS2. Very badly optimised.
I heard this game is never happy or in misery.
They should remaster this game
I used to play this on the xbox.
I believe that name is pronounced like Nu - Yen grew up with someone who's last name was that, thats how they pronounced it
The PS2 version is very inferior to the PC version, but I wouldn't call it one of the "worst games ever" (I know they aren't saying it's one of the worst games ever technically lol) but it is less....good for sure. The PC version of the original game and the expansion (aka the Purple Haze release was the original and expansion in one package) were absolutely one of my favorite games of the time and I LOVED the MP in the game. The "realism" this game tried to offer was incredible to me back in those days. But I'd imagine the PS2 version is less, real I guess lol
Someone send these guys some American consoles that would be cool
The drill sergeant sounds way too much like Cotton Hill
This game was great
Why did they get rid of the PC pointman - le duy nhut
ITS more Like...
Weired-Cong!
Got him! 🤙🏻
G❤🫥🎋🍏🍏 30:03
I replayed this couple years ago. I hated it. It is a truly bad game. I don’t know why I gave us such a high rating the first time because it was one of the first games and I didn’t quite understand replay value.
I used to collect for the PS2 and by PS2 standards this is a butt ugly game. It looks like a PC game from 1998 on low settings.
I know graphics aren't everything but damn.
Is the drill sergeant Cotton Hill
Paying the handsome tax (I am taxed on watching handsome people on CZcams)
Naming a difficulty level as "vietnam" seems inappropriate 😅😅
Please do worst games ever, Triggerman!
I'm sure that this game's title is an offensive word
Vietcong was military/political organisation. Purple haze is song/drug.
@@tankian4545 you're kind of right, purple haze is a strain of weed
@@Deltrottersvan Yeah... named after the song. Not the other way around.
@@DamnedSilly so? Did you win something with that info? I was just saying it's a strain of weed
Viet Cong is just short for Viet nam Cong San. Which basically means Vietnam communist
If you’d like to forget how your minds work, try Perfect Weapon on the PS1. It is truly THE Worst Game Ever. 😃
13 year old me would have been so into this game lol
I use to love this game lol
Al Gore rhythm
You got that right bros😂 PCs....i had no idea it came out on ps2 and that it looked like minecraft😂😂 what a disgrace to original cult classic....
😂I love your videos
Nnnn'Goyen MVP
I’ve never played this and I’m sorry if you really like it… but this looks absolutely terrible to me. 😂
FISRT .. I WIN LOSERES
Yeah, back then they would swear at you, tear you to shreds verbally...etc. Sometimes even hit you. Now, no way. They can still make you suffer, but today's version of boot camp drill instructors are much less intimidating.
NOT VIET KONG
👽
It grosses me out how many video games allow you to recreate war crimes for fun.
Edit: Now I know why gamers have such a bad reputation lmao
Grand Theft Auto must really offend you.
Go vote for your next favourite war criminal then.
@SteveAustin-zv1nn what an accurate and not at all ridiculous comparison. You must be very well educated. Also, GTA offends me only in the sense that it's the most overrated franchise on the planet that isn't called star wars.
you should complain to the Manager of Video Games
@naturesinterface6663 that's nice, dear.
This is a really good game dude..
