I have friends that are divorce attorneys. A woman is more likely to lose custody when she alleges abuse. Judges tend to believe the woman is making it up and trying to alienate the child. The best thing to do is to call the police during an incident and have him arrested, get a restraining order, and to file (pull money out and get a credit card that he can’t access),
Also something nobody ever talks about is the lengths he went to hide his friendship w/ the cop. I'm sure once shit got serious w/ slim he had to tell him like "aye bruh, you know you can't come to my wedding right? & she can't know we're friends". For her to never have seen his face again up until he was helping him look for her.
The friendship was fake anyway. Mitch needed a crooked cop "friend", Robbie needed a rich "friend." They were both pathetic terrible ppl, so they used one another as needed.

I found it really gross and icky that Ginny basically offers herself to Joe (the former boyfriend), kisses him, and proposes that they sleep together while they are dancing at Slim’s wedding. It takes two to tangle, so obviously, Joe isn’t a saint in this either. But as her friend, why are you even interested in Slim’s former boyfriend. That’s just… creepy. @bondy I had a friend encourage me to take a number from a guy that was trying to talk to me. I took it, but felt something was off..... I called him at 1am, I could hear this man backflip out the bed😂. He whispered hello, what's going on!? I said oh not much, you said call anytime. Tell your wife I said hi! 3 weeks later my friend confirmed that one of her other friends told her the guy was married.

1:18:40 It was this exact thing that nade my 5yr old, (now 7yr old) not want to talk to his dad anymore. We were on a facetime call and for a moment he was talking to me and then him not knowing my son was back on the call he started hollering and cursing. I don't curse, so my son was shocked and started crying. When i hung up my son said he never wants to speak to him again. And he hasn't ever since! And im not going to force him either. He doesn't even ask about him anymore.

I absolutely loved this review, and also a big Jlo fan myself, I still listen to a lot of her early music. And you were absolutely correct about all the red flags in this movie. I had two ex bf's who would give me those red flags, the first one tried to cheat on me and so I left before he could so when we broken up and guys liked me, he started threatening to hit me. I never went back after that. Another ex of mines use to joke around about punching me in the face and I found out around the sametime that he got into a fist fight with a racist woman on his job. He would blame me for feeling scared about things so I broke it off with him too, but long story short im glad I left those situations before they got worse, even though people made it seem as if I was wrong for leaving. Women need to know when its time to leave and discontinue with men who have red flags.

I could listen to your view on religion for hours! Omg I agree sooo much. When I look at documentaries about religion and cults and the bottom line is they convince you to be grateful for absolutely nothing, so they can continue to give you nothing. And if you question the nothing you’re given, you’re the bad guy & how dare you. And when you do get little things attribute it to god or something else, discount all of the work you did to get it. It’s wild. But it DEFINITELY works.

Bondy it sounds like we damn near had the same dad. And I was the EXACT same with protecting my mom (at the time not realizing that’s what I was doing) but my presence used to curb the anger/arguing. My dad was def a good n bad example. When I look at him as a father, he was present, he cared about n for us abs loved us… but as a husband to my mom? He was HORRENDOUS! He was physically abusive to her early on in their relationship but my mom flipped on him n started fighting back (because she didn’t want me raised seeing her be abused) so by the time I can remember, their arguments were no longer physical, but they were verbally abusive to one another. Their arguments were UGLY (n my dad was definitely the aggressor in them). But like I said, he was there as a father, he never put his hands on us. N now that both of my parents r passed, I had to end up working thru n coming to terms with the decisions they made n how they affected me in therapy. It was hard, but I did the work n am on the other side now thank God. So I know exactly what u mean when u talk about doing the work to get thru that trauma. And that even though my dad wasn’t the best husband, I still had a very present father (raised in a two parent household) but it was a toxic environment because frfr my parents should’ve BEEN broke up, but they didn’t n stayed together until my dad passed. N I used to hold resentment towards my mom for staying, but then I had to look at her background n upbringing, n she was just doing what she thought was best by keeping us altogether. That’s how I was able to forgive both of them, when I looked at their upbringing, my parents honestly did an AMAZING job considering where they came from…
I feel like the complaints people had about Fifty Shades of Grey is because they've seen this movie. Realistically his personality in that movie fits the personalities of the husband in this movie.
Also in abusive homes the kids grow up to be abusive or thinking that the behavior is normal and how relationships go I myself thought physically fighting was OK and most of the way solve problems instead of dealing with their emotions and feelings because they don't know any other way
Another red flag was when she had the baby and asked him to let her see their new baby and he wouldn't give the baby to her when she asked him to. He just ignored her.
I just got out of an abusive relationship with an older man that ended with me getting a restraining order on him. Every man I knew and met during that time told me after the fact that they thought I knew he was abusive and they knew this was going to happen because he does this with all women. One of the men that told me that was someone I held in regard, a state trooper that I was close to months before I even met my abuser. It was 2 months ago and I wake up in cold sweats sometimes and shame myself for running to save my life. Not one single man, and there were many, warned or checked on me after.

Does anyone know what Jupiter does for a living in the movie? I know he was wealthy but I don’t think they ever disclosed his profession. I’m also curious to know where his office was filmed? Because I really liked the artwork and the murals on his walls.
Edited to add: It took me forever to find the information, but I finally figured it out. Jupiter was a Venture Capitalist. I couldn’t find where the interior shots were filmed, but the outer shots of the building is located at:

i went through a domestic. Moved did everything I needed to do. Had the no-contact order and everything. The courts chose to dismiss the case 6 months later and dropped the no contact order without even speaking with me or even having a court hearing. Iowa is only a mother state when i comes to money (stamps, health, child care, child support)
