“DISAPPEAR on these niggas until they ACT right” took me down 😂
The fact he cried for a baby he couldn’t support, burned me up
This was a horror movie lol
💯 nothing but
😂😂😂
😂
Nah but fr 😅😂😂. They really had us liking these toxic ass “romance” movies!
😂😂😂😂
As a kid I remember asking myself why she was with him
As Jill has told us "Some of them want to break you down, steal your crown, use and abuse you" Amen !
Chile, that is my ish!!
My ex mother in law tried to convince me to get pregnant for her son because that would help him do better. Baby please! I thank God I don't have a child by him.
I looked at this movie as a cautionary tale! 😂
Me too...I was 19 when I read the book and 22 when this movie came out...My Foeva cautionary tale...Unfortunately when this book was written Franklin wasn't typical, now in 2023 Franklin type brothers are the norm😢😢😢😢
Regina Hall, played tf out of Portia. Now that I'm grown, I realize that Portia wasn't being a man hating heifer. She was being realistic. And wanted more for Zora.
Lol yes!!!
Some women have to be the clean up. It sure as hell won't be me. As soon as he said he had a wife and two kids, I'm out. I do not care if they're separated. When she found out she was pregnant, she made the mistake of telling him before she thought about what she wanted to do. These men will beg for a baby that they won't take care of.
He was exhausting and she stayed too long with a baby on top of that.smh
I didn’t think Franklin was that bad until I rewatched this in my 30s. This man was a nightmare😭
NTWG I realize that this was not a love story At All. This was struggle 101. And Terry McMillan made us think it was ok to settle, suffer and wait for things to get better. To accept less than we deserve and give more than we're given, as long as there's passion and good sex.
Terry sound like Ilyana Vanzant right about now 💅🏾
@@CandieP😂😂😂
Now that I’m GROWN grown, I realize that the music aspect of the movie and Zora’s character is what kept me coming back (I wanted to be a singer). The relationship was TRASH from the beginning and I don’t think I could stomach multiple re-watches now.
Men try to trap you and then tell ppl that you set them up. Smh
Thank you for talking about the men who try to trap you with a baby. 3 tried really hard. I became the queen of birth control and made it past the goalpost.🤣 49, no kids.
Yep! I’ll be 43 Thursday. The three P’s helped me…pills, plastic, prayer!
I've watched this movie a million times never knew why I was crying. At a big old age of 57 I finally realized it. And now i'm Work it on being celebrated.
Emotional trauma 📝. You got down on this... real therapeutic 🙌🏾
I didn't think I couldn't dislike Franklin's character more than I did in the movie......until I read the book.
Oh but the music was fire....'Just for my Baby' is definitely on my playlist
“Just For My Baby” is sublime! 🙌🏾🔥
I read the book first lol over the course of a weekend. Laid out at my grandma’s. Snuck it from my mom’s library ❤️
The book made me hate him before i watched the movie 😂😂😂. The movie just solidified my feelings.
I couldn’t be with him after he cussed me out on my birthday😡 and he had exhibited a heaping amount of red flags already. Aww hell no she did too much coddling for me. I can’t
Zora was dehydrated lol 😂
I’m so happy younger ladies are not falling for this trope. Additionally Franklin also was supposed written as a 6’4” muscular man….Wesley should NOT have been cast for this……Maybe Henry Simmons?
It's giving...Pick Me: The Movie 🎥 😂😂😂
This has to be one of my least favorite movies of that time period. But I love your breakdown of this movie.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time So Underrated
Bondy! Please do Mo Better Blues, School Daze, and Jungle Fever!
School Daze will be a good one. Thanks for saying it.
Zora had great friends... They always had her back....I wish the movie had addressed Zora weight problem.. It was a whole subplot cause she had an eating disorder and everything. She had bulimia.
Can you do Cladine for a NTWG video?
Love this movie and loved the book even more, however; I used Terry McMillan material as what NOT to tolerate in a relationship. I used to feel bad that I couldn’t date men that were broke for long because of my humble beginnings, but in reality, why do women have to struggle just because some men lack aspirations to be better. Whitley Gilbert says it best, “A educated, enterprising, and ambitious man is never broke.”
🙌🏾
No fr! It was a great write. Like terry can write but the book irritated me so bad 😂
I've been a fan of Meshell N'degeochello since Madonna signed her in the early 90s. I've had the pleasure of seeing her live 4-5 times. I feel a lot of Terry McMillians books were about subpar men that dickmatized black women. 😅
Well, look at how her marriage went, after she desperately nabbed a young, non-working, and gay man from Jamaica.
I’m enjoying this series so much I know I’ve commented that like 5 times but I really love it! Can’t wait for Friday!
Franklin had too much ego and too many excuses off top! He quit before exhausting possibilities for his family and that’s the difference from BW n BM. My aunts cleaned homes back then becuz they had to. My uncles didn’t do enuf. I still see that pride n entitlement issue in BM in 2023.
One of my all time favorite movies .. Wesley and Sanna had good chemistry
Oh my God Bondy you hit it right on the nail at 53 minute mins. As a woman that was ways with both of my parents in the home and seeing my father be such a loving caring man; I Afforded men that I dated too much grace and compassion. Damn shawty you didn't have to snatch my edges so aggressively lol
I SEEN THIS MOVIE ONE TIME AND NEVER WATCHED AGAIN AFTER THAT!!! 🧐🤯
Add Crooklyn to the list!!!
Yeah the dad in Crooklyn pissed me off!
Ok he was lazy@@queenyaa5043
I knew you would have a good time with all the mess that went on in this movie. Franklin and his massive ego and anger management issues made me wanna throw something at the tv.
Bondy: Those are the breeeeaks!
My slow ahh: Break it up! Break it up! Break it uuuuup! 😂😂😂
But yes, this movie really taught me as a young girl to really watch out for yaself… and watch for men that really just wanna waste ya time and use you. Because in essence, he really did use d and bubblegum to manipulate his life existence. It’s literally sad. In the now, men are so upset that they have to contribute the full package. That beat ya chest, primitive attitude ain’t allowed no more… Because let’s be honest, it NEVER worked to begin with.
I’m sure no one will agree with me on the next one but can you break down “Beloved”? Cause I was confused then and now that we’re grown I’m still confused. 🤷🏽♀️
His cognitive dissonance really irritated me to the core
"Nobody told ya ass to get drunk on the job!" Always loved how Sanaa delivered that line.
New sub! Bondy your channel is one of the most entertaining and thought provoking. It speaks to the movie buff/acting dramatics/ dialogue memorizing addict in me😊
You sing very sweetly AND you are highly hilarious😂 I will binge watch older videos and keep looking forward to the new videos.
✌️👏👏👏👏💚
I've been binge watching these all week.
To think Franklyn is the norm
I almost dropped my phone when this popped up because I LOVE this movie. Good job Bondy!!! ❤❤❤❤
I've never thought Westly Snipes was fine, NEVER😖and I wished that somebody else played that role! watching him irked me so bad lol!!!!
Thank you! Entire time I kept thinking how did he bag her? 😂
@@Sasha-vb3mh 🤣😂 exactly!!
Wesley Snipes is NOT attractive. BW have a weird dark skinned "preference/fetish" where if a dude is dipped in dark skin then he's automatically attractive 😂
I think so terry books are not more that we should settle but she she writes "Cautionary Tales"; hence the reason why you shouldn't date a bus driver when u not riding the bus. Their generation did it already.
When you look at who she married, I think she really thought this way. I don't believe she wrote these books with the intention of being "cautionary tales."
She seems like she needs massive healing
I just watched this yesterday so I am here for this!! 🙌🏾😩🤣
I don’t like the stigma attached to high value men like all they’re good for is their money. You have high valued men who are good in bed, they have personality and they are family oriented.
A broke dusty is a broke dusty no matter how charming they are. Broke dusties can also be whack in bed, abusive emotionally, physically and spiritually. Broke dusties can also lack personality as well.
Omg the book irritated me so much I could never do the movie.
But they got time to go and drink down to the bar 🤣🤣 I’m Ctfu!!
The book did not have a happy ending as they separated. I don't think the book was supporting struggle love but was portraying what it looks like. The movie was trash
Wesley gaslighting skills were on 150%
I remember requesting this and thank you for hearing your BonBons 💙
ive been waiting for this particular movie review all my life. 😊😊😊😊Thanks Bondy
Omg yessss!!! I needed some type of closure after this movie & never got it!
I'm glad I found this.
Imma have to take a good look through all of yout content!
❤
I’ve never taken the time to watch this movie, but I’m going to now!! Thanks Bondy! Great review!!
I have not watched this movie in a long time. Wesley Snipes is a hero for dark skinned dudes. He put light skinned dudes out of style in New Jack City.
It makes you feel a way when he only views you as a sex object while pregnant, but it also makes you feel a way when he doesn't want to have sex while you're pregnant... that's my current situation. :/ He swears nothing is going on every time I ask. I've given up.
Great review. I've read this book several times over the years. The 1st time I was 11 at home with the chicken pocks reading my mom's book 😅 I finally just finished the movie. I had never watched in its entirety
After watching your video I legit went home and rewatched this movie...😂
I loved this film as a youngster...it moved me
From the book to the movie. This is my guilty pleasure
One of my favorite movies!
BONDY 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤
Never saw this movie so I'm glad for your review so I don't have to watch it! Thank Bondy blue
so happy this one made the ntwg list.
When hbo had their black movies it sealed their fandom of them
Remember dancing September?
Oh that one was another good hbo one with Nicole Ari in her beginning acting and Isaiah Washington looking all good but being an a-hole
Pregnant at the bus stop holding groceries 😂😂😂
Bondy so funny💙😂😂
Why was Franklin so ashy?
Literally the whole movie 😂😅
Right? Like it’s hard to believe she really fell for him
Rewatched this today. And couldn’t finish it. It was so cringe. Mind you I watched it in my 20s when it first came out.
Wow I have never seen this movie before.
This is one of mom's favorite movies smh....now I'm interested in reading the book
I don't even wanna watch this show no more 😂😂😂😂
This was very inciteful and triggering. When I watched this back in the day, I was too young to understand the undertones.
I hated him
The book was so much better than the book. Favorite
Hello. What happened at the end of the book?
Pleasee do daddy little girl 😊
I knew there was a reason why I didn't like this movie...smh! Love your review
Back in the day when this came out, we all liked this movie. But listening to this now, his a** is irritating. UGH!
Terry McMillan made beautifully written cautionary tales for Black women. Be well rounded ladies. Dont be so set in your ways that a bum with a coke problem and amazing dick can take your peace of mind.
I really didnt not like this movie. I read the book as a kid and seeing the actual meaning behind the words she wrote disgusted me.
I've only watched this movie once. Both me and my husband was like this was a trash az movie.
Crazy added with the ending she probably took his arze back. I was 17 when I watched it I was annoyed as heck
Bondy can you please do a review on Netflix series sex life
Oooouu… i love that series. I hope they have another season
@@StarringShameka it's been canceled....no season 3! 😢 I loved the show too!
@@tamcar04 heartbreaking 💔
Love isn't always pretty
this happened to me, I broke it off with him then one week later I found out I was pregnant.
Damn sis. What did you wind up doing? (If you don’t mind sharing)
Same
New subbie. This was so good. The book is way worse this is super watered down compared to it. 🥲🥲🥲
