- The chief superintendent of the Royal Bahamas Police Force has been placed on leave, officials announced July 5, amid a search for missing Chicago woman Taylor Casey, who was last seen on the island.
There’s no indication this is related to that case, but NewsNation’s Brian Entin says the new development doesn’t give Casey’s family faith in the investigation.

The tent isn’t the problem- the problem is the secrecy the yoga retreat keeps trying to maintain along with the Bahamian government. They have details and refuse to share and that is a crime in itself. The owners of this ashram are not the upstanding spiritualist they truly “think” they are.

Family and friends should have disclosed upfront that Taylor Casey is a biological male and is considered transgender. That may have helped with the investigation as it may play a vital role as to what transpired.

I agree. The US has stopped putting in a lot of effort when they have travel advisories and the one for the Bahamas has increased in severity this year. I too believe that the trans thing did something. It is well known that if you go to some of those carribean islands and they find out you are lgbtq your life is in danger and the police will turn their heads because they think it is a sin. You can’t go to a foreign place and expect the same protections that you have in the US and why was she staying in a tent that is insecure baes on the recent reports of danger. She went on a walk on the beach and the resort told people not to do that because it was unsafe. My gut feeling is that she is dead. Her family is going to have to beg for donations to bring the body back home because the IS isn’t going to help with that either. $50K . This is so sad but we have to look at how we conduct our lives and be accountable for it. I don’t care about her being trans. For me that is incidental - it’s not being safe in an area where you k ow there is danger in being trans is the problem.

I really agree with you. The ashram knows more. Where I live there are multiple yoga retreats. And I know personally of someone who died on a retreat, and the leader was a total cult guy, white clothes , ...it was the cult leaders fault because he could have helped him go to the hospital. But instead he let him die and buried him under a tree in the forest. When the family went looking they only had a pic of the tree and the place, and they asked the police to investigate and they didn't even call in forensics. There needs to be a proper forensic investigation of the room, and it's a small place for sure the truth of what happened is evident, and someone knows and a proper investigation needs to be held
Honey it is a low cost ashram, trust me, not lots of staff- its run by lots of volunteer folks (I wouldnt' stay in a tent) but it's a low cost way for folks to board during the weeks long yoga teacher training.

What kind of journalism is this! How is the dismissal of a police chief in any way related to this young lady going missing. Yes there was a police chief who had to be disciplined and he was. An investigation is underway the government will be assisted by Scotland Yard and US police officials because they are pursuing a fair and independent inquiry. That is what happens in a country with rule of law. But i guess because no law official in America has ever been disciplined then this course of action must be viewed with suspicion and spurious linkages must be made with the unfortunate disappearance of tourist. Everyone wants that young lady disappearance to be resolved for the sake of the family

That statement from the retreat is garbage. When she initially went missing they showed no interest in her disappearance. It seems like they were more concerned with the reputation of the resort and not drawing bad publicity. A woman is missing for god’s sake. They need to do something.

How very weird. This news report drops the term "discrimination" when talking about this incident and Bahamian police corruption at the beginning of the report yet never says one word about discrimination again. Are we supposed to assume that the discrimination is based on race? That would be silly as 85% of the Bahamas is of African origin/ethnicity. I assume the implication of discrimination at the beginning of this report actually is reference to Taylor Casey's transgender identity. Taylor could easily have been targeted by a Bahamian gang member (or gang members) based on that transgender identity but that would negatively impact the ESG corporations that own and run the Atlantis resort next door. Maybe Taylor snuck out to meet someone that night and was murdered. Maybe someone came and took Taylor from the tent. Whatever happened, the nearby Atlantis resort is a huge money maker and Brookfield Asset Management LLC (owner of the Atlantis) and Marriott International (resort operator) probably could do without negative press about Paradise Island. Whatever the case, the ashram that Taylor was staying with warned all guests not to go out walking on the beach alone. Obviously the island is dangerous.

I agree the story was confusing but re: discrimination: it's actually not silly I'm black and black folks do indeed SOMETIMES (depending on history/culture) treat other blacks badly compared to how they treat a similar person who is white. It happens-- ask any black person. For example for you or those who care, if you visit an African resort- they are used to white people with money as customers, if a black person shows up they MAY treat that person badly. Because they literally are thinking "what are you doing here..."

The owner developed a yoga class called Gospel Yoga Flow, where we worship the Lord on the mat. I've learned that my yoga practice does not rival my Christianity, they actually go hand in hand. I don’t believe that Taylor left on her own, because she hasn’t contacted her mother, and she wouldn’t have thrown her cellphone in the ocean, and left with her passport. None of that makes sense for someone who wasn’t on the run from something. Which begs the question, was Taylor on the run from something?
Since Taylor’s a male (trans woman), I believe that a male has Taylor. Also, was Taylor’s phone found near the retreat, or where was it found in relation to the retreat?
Did Taylor meet a man online in the Bahamas? Sometimes, those encounters for trans women go wrong when men do not know upfront that a person who identifies as a woman is actually a man.
Hopefully, the police will unlock the phone. That’s where this investigation will unfold.

Mark my word! That young woman was kidnapped through what appears to be a scheme they are running through that Yoga Retreat. I strongly believe she was targeted once she submitted her information to register for the retreat. Whoever acquired that info is connected to something corrupt on the island. I pray that God gives her family comfort. This is unacceptable!
When tourism is #1 for your economy, you’d think the Bahamian law enforcement agencies would have responded more aggressively to the investigation. What a tragedy, this is anti tourism advertising for the Bahamas.

The branch of the police in the Bahamas responsible for these types of investigations is the CID (Central Investigation Division). The Chief of Police removal has nothing to do with this case. Do your homework when reporting on foreign jurisdictions that you clearly know little about. Keep it factually honest. The credibility of journalism has enough shade as is.

🤔Question: How hard would it be for someone like Taylor to simply go missing somewhere in the ocean on that particular island? I feel only two possibilities exist here. I didn't know she was transgender. Im truly sorry that she's missing. I definitely suspect foul play. They unalive ppl who are transgender or gay in some west indian countries. Im not saying its right to take a life, but this commonly happens.
There was a case of a missing women here where I live , and the police did not do anything at first. The pics and footage of her room which is now available, are what friends had to do to investigate..... The Bahama police try to get into phone? How about they do a whole forensics on the room, spray it with luminol and see what .
She Drowned, I Bet ! It’s being said the waves were strong & residents were urged to stay clear of beaches ! The phone in the water is VERY TELLING😢. She’s 40, wise, healthy and kind. Nothing vindictive 😮i I’m sure she’s always been upfront with her sexuality.
