Both have automatic transmissions. Curb weight of the 1963 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS is 2700 pounds, while the Camaro is around 3150.

    I think the '67 Camaro, in this trim and color combo, may be the most beautiful car ever to come out of Detroit. I don't care how impractical it may be, or how inauthentic the LS swap makes it - just drop-dead gorgeous.

Looking for an S-10 to drop it in, as I've got a complete AirRide suspension system and a list of other after market goodies for one just collecting dust. I despise LS engines. I'm an old school Chevy small block guy. My first car, in 1975, at age 16, was my dad's 1963 Nova SS. It was a sweet car, except for that six cylinder engine. It was a 2 door hardtop, and looked great with the front and back windows down. The first thing I did was swap out that six with a 283 V8. It had a Powerglide, and a highly modified posi rear end out of a late '60s full sized wagon. I didn't build the rear end, so I don't remember the specs on it. I also put Gabriel Hi Jacker air shocks on it. A big issue with the Nova/Chevy II of those early years was the single leaf rear spring. Air shocks were an easy way to beef up the rear suspension.

    I called it, but I'm extremely biased to be honest! Although I do love, and am a huge fan of the L.S.! I have built many of the, may I say conventional/historic small block Chevy v8 engines, and have an created an extreme appreciation for the 383 Stroker, hell I've built them to create a naturally aspirated 675hp. So it's no surprise to see, in this situation, it beat an L.S., even in a light weight 67 Camaro.

      Stock 6 bolt mains holding the crankshaft to the block and stock cylinder heads that flow 315cfm on the intake side are two very big steps forward that the old smallblock doesn't have or do making 550-575 horsepower with a otherwise stock LS3 stock engine and heads with a decent camshaft and matching valve springs and hardened pushrods that will turn 6800-7200rpm is the kind of power a all forged 406 smallblock makes with expensive AFR cylinder heads and after market crank rods pistons on premium pump gas

    • @josephmcintyre752
      @josephmcintyre752 Před 2 lety +1

      Because the ls is waaaay better. Why do you upgrade anything, to improve it. The LS is a VAST improvement over, the best of the original era, hands down.

    • @SweatyFatGuy
      @SweatyFatGuy Před 2 lety

      because the LS is a huge upgrade compared to the sbc and most bbcs. It takes a lot to get the sbc up to the point the LS is from the factory. I'm putting 6.0s in my square body C10s, and a 5.3 in the 88 C1500, but my Pontiacs make more power and torque than the LS does until you do a lot to the LS, so the GTOs, LeMans's and Formulas are not getting LS power. One of the Opel GTs probably will, and the other is getting a Pontiac engine, probably the 467 or another stroked 400.
      I like the LS, great truck engine, best part is they don't leak like the sbc.

    • @SweatyFatGuy
      @SweatyFatGuy Před 2 lety +3

      @@gloriamaletta8667 Curiously I threw a 455 together on the cheap($2700), forged pistons, stock rods, mild hydraulic cam with 228/232-110, stuffed it in a 3750lb 79 Formula with a 3.42 gear and it ran 11.40s through the mufflers, oh and a 1900-2200 stall. No nitrous needed, just an 850 Holley. Raced it for ten years. Then I built a bigger, nastier 467 with heads that flow more than the LS3. Fun times making 650ftlbs at 3000 and carrying it to 5500.
      A bud of mine has a 99 Z28 that had 2.73 gears, he put a 4200 stall, headers, Y pipe, pulleys and a lid on it, with the passenger seats pulled he ran an 11.8 something. That impressed me so I bought a 98 Formula with the LS1 in it, just happened to have 2.73 gears. it might get one of the 6.0s I have laying around now, for science. It was my long distance highway cruiser and daily driven fun toy while I was stationed 1500 miles from where I grew up.
      All my chevy powered trucks are getting LS swaps. Gotta have decent power, and the sbc doesn't do that easily nor cheap. Gotta spin the snot out of em. The LS does pretty decent in stock form.
